proverbial Nail on the Head. This is TH10 in a nutshell. That said i maxed out TH10 Defs well over 1 month ago so even with my reduced Looting rates it is still possible just seems to take 3 times longer to do ANYTHING.

I think the other thing people are forgetting is that SC underestimated how many people in the game were simply going to stick out their TH and just.......farm.
It's in one of those old youtube interviews with Steve. He says it in there himself. They had no idea farming was going to become this "thing" in the game.
So what did SC do? They did all this stuff to curb farming. They introduced the ranking system. They tweaked loot penalty, so on and so forth.
All of their million and one simulations didn't prepare them for the level at which the million or so players were simply going to farm. they thought we were just going to fight our way to some high lvl and as a bonus were going to accept gold as a bonus to use on defense and of coarse dump real money into the game if we wanted to go higher than that.
The problem here is that everyone seems to be looking at each problem separately, when in actuality both the new content and trophy problems are significantly intertwined. The prototypical clash player starts out with a desire to build his base strong through farming. When he finally get his base there the goal is to trophy hunt. As an almost maxed Th9 I'm coming to the end of my journey and have started to think about my next course of action should I make it there. The answer is I don't know right now. Why? Mainly because the thought of staring at clouds all day doesn't particularly entertain me. I also don't care to be defensive minded i.e. I don't want to sit on a shield all day then watch a defense. This game has engrained in me an aggressive nature throughout my farming days. Everything up until this point has been about continuous raids and constant action in order to properly develop my base. Strategic planning through army training, spell creation, and hero use in order to find the right return for my investment. Once this goes away and things come down to trophies what then for a player like me? No strategic planning anymore. It is simply staring at clouds with at most two army combinations that are viable in the upper leagues. Don't forget the necessary gemming that is required in order to get value out of the time you are putting into getting those trophies. To me it sounds like the game just suddenly goes away from everything it has been trying to engrained in us since day one. Why upgrade those unused troops? Why upgrade those defensive towers? Why upgrade those walls? They aren't going to help you with high league gameplay. The ONLY thing you need to go after cups is a few specific troops, heroes, gems and time. Need proof just look at some of the players who have been top 100 without any defenses or walls. There is no strategy in high cup play other than the same respective raid types and pressing the screen every few seconds to keep from logging off. That just doesn't sound like fun to me after being entertained so long with the concept of base building.
How do you remedy this? The way i see it you have three options:
1 Reduce the loot amounts so that upgrading is harder and takes more time. Make people spend more of their time in the farming stage so that attention is removed from the trophy stage.
2 Add a wealth of new content that farmers will now need to work to obtain. This will also take the spotlight off the trophy aspect
3 Overhaul upper league gameplay to make it more in line with the earlier stages of the game. Somehow make raids more rewarding. Somehow make searching more viable. Somehow make raiding and defending more strategic.
Obviously the first point above is the least attractive, but it seems to me like it would be the easiest course of action on SC's end. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it was their goal with the update. Just merely stating the plausibility of that course of action. As a consumer I want options two and three, but they are the hardest to implement. Even still, the problems are intertwined and at this point in its life, with so many long term clashers reaching the end of their farming journeys, we are coming to a point of critical mass where things will either begin to takeoff or they will began to rapidly deteriorate. I truly believe this year will be a monumental one for clash whether for good or bad.
Yeah I see your point, I also don't ever want to trophy push for more than the odd little week here and there, it really doesn't sound very fun being a champs players.
More content is needed so the cups actually have some real reward please SC, because I know well that I will never be a top 200 player and also wouldn't really care to be. But farming is also not something I want to have to do indefinitely. Clan Wars would help a lot to take many players minds off of all the games problems IMO.
i make 6 million-7 million a day if im lucky but i do need to switch my army comp and use barch or bam to attack eatch 10 min and make 2 million per hour.
but finding empty bases is becoming harder here in gold 1-2
and the loot is pretty horrible i spend 200k on the next just to find a 200k raid T_T the profit i made was the loot bonus
that happend to me 3-4 raids in a row..
even if i looked for 150k i didnt find any.. ARGHHH
The loot system is based on hoping people have either resources in the storages or uncollected mines and pumps. Farmers hit next more then trophy hunters. So the results are probably not going to favor us farmers when it comes to the next button. With the loot system making it that you can lose 400k resources ( if you have 4 million in storages) most people will dump gold into walls which makes no loot available. Thats why people are hitting next! Not a very hard concept to understand jeez.
Please jesus just give us more loot!No world peace!Just loot please
