Don't feed the troll.
Alright, why would a company making large amounts of money per day not strive to fight off rising competition?
The goal is to reach the top, and then stay there and increase market share if possible.
They do this by continuous improvements to the product (CoC) , and to satisfy their customers.
If they were to stop updating, competition will catch up and surpass CoC, because you are left with an out-of-date game content-wise. It would be like playing a PS2 when there is an established PS3 and now PS4 out. It would just feel lackluster and like you are getting ripped for the time put in. Its the same concept with other products on the market. Take the IPhone. If they stopped at the first one, the loyal fan base would slowly disappear, and better products/companies take their place.
The only way that stopping updates would be remotely feasible, would be if they had a plan to get this player-base to a new game. The con is that it is obviously very high-risk, players may not want to 'start-over' etc.
IMO, if they really wanted to, they could have an in-game poll system to engage the non-forum members and help implement new content ideas. That way you develop a close relationship with the customer and you develop a strong reputation that gives the players what they want.
Edit: History shows that companies that do not update their product, get left in the dust.
The amount of... ignorance in this thread... lol He just made a poll to see what people thought, not like he's arguing for no updates or anything
If there is nothing game changing out on the next update, I would consider it irrelevant. They need to start adding more than flashing lights for kids. I have been preaching this for months, among other things that need a change.
In regards to the poll, of course they should keep updating.
