If I buy gems, what should I spend them on?

I might buy some gems, and I'm getting th9 quite soon, probably start the upgrade by then end of February, what should I gem?

Exactly what i would do. Except only finish them when you have enough resources for the next upgrade.

I would use them to boost mines. However I would encourage you not to buy gems till the time bug and/ or loot issues are fixed..
