Why do attacks happen while you are offline?

One thing I can't figure out, about this game, is the logic behind having attacks happen while you are offline. Can anyone explain this?

Surely attacks happening while you are online makes far more sense. That way we could be given the ability to deploy warriors to attack the attackers in the same way you deploy them when attacking other villages. Surely this would be much more fun than what happens now?

People switching the game off to kill attacks need not be a problem. All that needs to happen is for the village to remain accessable to the attackers until the end of the alloted attack time. Also enabling the owners of attacked villages to fight back would reduce the amount of resources pillaged. This could help encourage people to buy diamonds to get extra resources for upgrades.

If they could attack you while online, they would be able to attack you while reorganizing your base

If you could sent troops at them on defense , there would be no chance to win the attack ....

If there was no chance to win a battle,nobody would play

I don't have problem with being attacked while reorganising my village. In my view, it is alot fairer that having the place trashed while I am offline. Beside, if you have plenty of troops to defend with there is no problem.

Your assertion that there would be no chance to win the attack is not logical. Surely that would depend on what troops both the attacker and the defender have and use? Is actually winning the attack important as long as you pilfer resources?

Depends on the player :

A trophy chaser at 3000 cups would say winning is more important than anything

A farmer at 0 cups would say winning is not important at all

Every player in between would have a different answer for the same question... It's all based on your personal strategy :p

Most of us are out of game more than we are in game. If you could only attack people who were in game, there would be even fewer targets.

I think you will find there will still be plenty of targets to choose from.

If we cant attack when people are offline, there will be a lot of people only online to build their buildings and after the builder is working. They go offline. And they will be safe...

If you want real time strategy game go buy Starcraft 2 or world of Warcraft. Having two players interact is much different as a game than what clash of clan offers, and on a scale much more difficult.

If I had army camp that could defend, the game mechanics would change too much... Players don't want to lose their trophies or resources but don't really think through the impact of a change... It's not your job to think about it, but if you did you'd know why a lot of suggestions will never happen without big changes to gAme play

I've been attacked while offline, yet when I try to get revenge and they're offline I can't attack. That is very unfair that they can attack me but I can't attack back. On the iPhone, when the game is closed does it keep the game logged in even though the game is closed, because that's ♥♥ that I get attacked while I'm in bed yet I can't get revenge later because they're offline.

Most of the time, what happens to me is that im attacked offline but if they destroy my base completely, im usually on a shield and i dont want to get of my shield to get revenge, just to get attacked by another person. Another that happens is somebody will come to my base, and take resources, but my defense wins, then i get attacked again, but this time they destroy my base, which makes me lose over 100,000 gold and elixir. But, alas the game has its advantages and dis advantages. (im a lvl 20)

I agree. If you want a real time strategy game, like starcraft, then simply buy it. The whole point of the game is to level up your army and attack. When offline, you should have a decent defense.
