L0L that's not the point, hes talking about maxed defenses.

They're not meant for maxed defenses... Maxed Golems are.
I use a mixture of giants and hogs, with a healer. Most of the time it works well. Spring traps are my worst enemy, man they kick my tail sometimes....
Giants are still great if you use enough wallbreakers and have enough archers and wizards to do the real damage..
How to properly use giants.
Step 1. Don't use healers. They take 14 spaces that can be used for better troops.
Step two. U have to deploy giants in different columns. One for each tower facing you. so they don't get out-flanked and get attacked from 3-sides.
Never rely on giants to break walls. As soon as all the towers are locked in. Send wallbreakers (in groups of two$ away from slash damage).
Back up each column of giants with wizards (if the tower is hitting fast) or archers (cheaper and good enough for most buildings), or minions (against wiz towers since they are dealing slash damage to group only.
It's very important to deploy a ring of ranged troops around the two corners. They take out distracting buildings so yr guys go for the middle.
Try to make at least two entry points on the first layer with two sets of WBs so they converge toward the middle. On the second layer. Then send a single file wall breaker toward the middle.
Once the path to the middle is cleared, lay down the rage spell. And start sending in archers and the barbs. Send it one to make sure it's targeting something in the middle, if not, adjust the deployment position until it targets the middle. Look at the red circle indicating the destination when u drop the troop. Adjust till they aim for the middle. Then send in the horde. Archers are easier to stay on track for the middle than the barbs. But barbs last a little longer.
As soon as the the inferno towers and the xbows are engaged. It's time to send in the heroes. They should follow the path of the barbs so they aim straight for the middle.
As the heroes take out the townhall, send more troops on the side to make sure u get to the 50% so u two star.
If it looks like u could three-star (ie heroes aren't badly damaged) it's time to distract the towers on the opposite side with it leftover troops. This step is critical to leveling maxed bases. I haven't had much practice since I never have any troops left for this step (always impulsively send in all my troops to level the core). To 3-star, u need both quick decision-making AND the temperament to not send way more troops then u need.
First, Id love to see this used in action by yourself
Secondly, you discounted all the people that use giant-healer by claiming them to be a waste of space, though many have mastered it and used it for months and advanced 50+ levels with it.
And your final claim of "to 3 star" isnt that helpful, since its very general and the base you attack obviously dictates that far more.
"This step is critical to leveling maxed bases." really? all the champs that use golems would love to know how to level maxed bases with giants
giants-healer work on bases that can be taken out with much less expensive troops. healing spells are marginally more expensive, work on more troops, more predictable, and don't take up any spaces. you can advance 50 levels by donating a lot of troops, so I don't see how that's relevant. nobody who consistently wins in crystal/master uses any healers (consistency is essential to earning and maintaining cups)
"you can advance 50 levels by donating a lot of troops, so I don't see how that's relevant." its relevant because most people that advance 50 levels dont do it by donating (10% of the levels in general or less), so by saving advancing 50 levels, it indicates experience and time playing the game and number of times raided.
Also, I am sure there are experienced people using giant healer up in crystal.
giants-healer work on bases that can be taken out with much less expensive troops. like barch? same could be said about many more strategies then.
