I Quit

First of all I would like to thank Supercell for a great game and the “Mad cherries” for being my one and only clan.
My story. I have been playing this game (farming mostly) for about 15 months and in that time I have only bought 2 piles of gems (500s) which were used for builders huts (VERY important in this game).
But I now it is time to call it a day, WHY!!
Well I have maxed all my buildings, storages, defenses and mines, all my Elixir troops and spells as well as most of my Dark troops are maxed, King and Queen are only at level 8 (I did not like them sleeping too long) and my walls are all level 9 because I refuse to pay the enormous sum of 3 million per wall
(250 walls X 3 million = £750,000,000) if I raided 2 million a day it would take over a year to upgrade them all, far far too much and too long.

Hmm.. Guess you have given up on waiting for SC to put som fun back in the game aswell ? ;-))

But yeah.. Just got to create your own fun and chalanges then, that will do for a while at least :-)

I truly applaud you for your efforts in the game. I also applaud you for THANKING Supercell, not raging at then for "terrible updates." Last, but not least, I applaud you for making a GREAT retirement base. Now don't mind me, I'll just be moving to Gold 2 now.......

Why can't I stumble upon bases like these? although I'd probably get so excited I'd "next" it on accident...

A few of the big raids on me but are now getting smaller.
Lost about 7 million gold and elixir in one night but have gained about 600 cups.
Will I make it to the masters league.

I think you need to decide for yourself. If your goal was maxing TH10, then it is time to quit. If it's about hanging with your clan buddies then maybe not. Why do you even ask the question and not just quit? Seems to me you want to hear a reason not to quit. What is holding you back? Maybe you should search for an answer to that question and see how much it means to you?

Just an update - OP currently at 2257 trophies though there ain't much loots left lol..

But to OP - why quit after all the effort for such a strong base? Many so-called farmers are dreaming hard to reach where u are now in terms of base standards. Why not try to push your limit with your defense and base design now and see whether u can reach Masters and Champions league etc. I voted no for u - hang around a while more, donate some awesome troops, try some trophy push, do some level 10 walls casually like i am now etc.

I know the never ending grinding and farming is really boring but maybe.. Just maybe next update SC will be giving us some cool new game play mechanisms instead of a TH11?

I tip my hat to you, you have farmed and upgraded to what I hope I can get too and eventually when I get to gold, hope to see your base. Very nice retirement.

Id say, if the game is not fun anymore, Id quit to. Your base is awesome, and i will probably quit to at that point myself..
Level 9 walls is my aim aswell as i have to much RL going on to Waste (yes i said Waste) that amount of time just to get Level 10 walls, in a game which in my view aint that much fun when you have grinded all the way up to where you are now.

I hope i come across Your Retirement base, thank you for doing that!

Well looking at his Heroes he's not into Mid to High level farming either.

If I was him and only doing boring low level grinding I'd have quit a long time ago.

The beauty of this game is that you can experience it in such different ways. He's basically playing 1 way to death and then given up WITHOUT even trying the other ways.

Not really, if i don't like seafood, I don't have to eat it again to say that I don't like it. He obviously had a taste of pushing (even though very low) before, and it's just his decision to stay farming.


The reason he quit is because he refuse to upgrade his walls, which is incredibly tedious even for a hardcore farmer. Everything else is done, his purpose on this game has been achieved, and he quit. Simple as that, imo. Happen all the time.

You say that's "boring low level grinding", he might think otherwise. Who knows.

Btw, he's already given his reason behind the low level heroes.

Fair enough. There are many types of seafood though, I don't like some, but I love others. Maybe you should try experimenting?

And "a taste of pushing"? If I left a maxed base with my TH protected for 7 days it would rise up to 2,500 without me doing anything.

I just don't get it. He's more than happy to build defence upgrades that take 14 days but he can't wait 4 days for his BK to reach level 9? He's clearly a very good player having farmed all of that base so you can't tell me he relys on level 8 Heroes every battle at those low trophy levels.

If I've enjoyed something for 15 months then I wouldn't just stop because there are no more defences to upgrade, seems a bit pathetic to me.

I'm merely trying to say this game has so many different sides to it and all should be tried and enjoyed (if you are a serious player for 15 months).

Collectors and storages outside please. On wait, it won't help be aide they will remove you. Nevermind, just quit.

Meh! your logic is sound but in reality its all pointless, he is one of the lucky few who is getting out whilst he still enjoyed the game.


Trophy Hunting for a farmer is fun until you hit the ceiling where its either drop and Farm or Gem a little.

Lets ask the question...
"why do we Farm" - Back in the early days the reason for this, for me, was so that my base can be better equipped when I hunt Trophies.

Now, when I ask that question I honestly cannot find an answer that I find acceptable. The Answer is simply because I Do not wish to hunt Trophies.

You say there "different ways" to play this game, however there are only 4 that I can think off. And as you can see 4 is being generous.

1) Hunt Trophies
2) Farm
3) alternate between 1 & 2
4) Just chill empty Mines and Drills (asking yourself why) and Socialise with Clannies


When 1 and 2 are exhausted where do you go... And when you hit number 4 its generally just a matter of time.

Exactly. If you are not farming with the ultimate goal of going up the trophy range as high as you can, what's the point of gathering all the resources? And if someone is tired to farming and not interested in pushing, it's time to take a break.

Good points and nice to see you back.

I guess it's like anything in life, after a while you just hit the wall and then need a new direction. If a different direction cannot be found in-game then it should be pursued outside.

The majority of the people I speak with say this is by far the longest they have ever played one game, so yes, it should be commended for that, but it'll always come to an end, or slow down, eventually.

How are the level 10 walls coming along?

I buy maybe 1 or 2 a week sometimes more but that's a by-product of DE Hunting, AQ on her way to Lv 27 as I write and BK sat at Lv 20.

I loathe it, I know I should be higher, maybe in Masters but I struggle to maintain that count effectively... For anyone reading it... Don't ignore your heros like I did (and the OP did)

So I Barch up to 2400 (or as high as I can until I suffer an loss on attack) then Farm DE until im back down in 1800s.. Rinse & Repeat.

I can only focus on one Hero at a time. It annoys me (or more accurately annoys my OCD Side) that I cannot hold more than 200k DE hence I cannot co-ordinate my hero upgrades together. Hence my AQ is getting the love.

Yeah, I think it's a waste of a nice base as well. Hopefully he'll be back sometime in the future, when SC figures out some ways to integrate farming and trophy pushing better, or something more interesting is introduced. His base would be ready for him by then.

PS: I think by "waiting" he meant "regeneration time", which is quite hideous for higher level heroes.

I wonder if the OP tried pushing, that's the way to keep the game interesting until we get clan wars. A break from farming to push every 6 weeks is the way we do it in our clan as we get bored of farming pretty fast.

I am in the same shoes as the OP. My base is maxed, I play for about the same time as he, me walls are nearly as good as his and my heroes much better.

So I farmed as much as he did, for the same time. And now OP, I can tell you, I pushed to champion last trophy push with my clan, CoC was as exciting as in the beginning. So really, try pushing hard. It brings back so much fun like you had in the start.

I've been farming for over a year in hopes to one day trophy hunt and not worry about resources. I don't think I will ever quit. Ever. They will have to force me out. I may take long breaks, but not quit. If there was some kind of monthly fee then I would quit, but until then I will clash on!


... So I voted no

wow , nice job , still being kind after you quited the game, by "giving" your resources.


anyway, to be even more kind, put all achievement-earning buildings in 1 corner. (builder huts, inferno towers, x-bows etc...)

Its a new level of fun and adrenaline rush when pushing. Especially when i hit Masters many months back as TH9 and hit Champion recently in TH10. Almost like the same joyous feeling when i hit 1250 trophies as TH6 lol..

But as others mentioned - it will come to a point where u hit the ceiling and unless u gem troops to constantly attack or stay online indefinitely to avoid a Gowiwi, otherwise its back to farming.

However i hope OP can enjoy that fun again and try trophy pushing once so that his efforts and his nice base wont go to such a waste.

Meanwhile... Lets pray hard that SC really has something spectacular coming.. Note I'm not refering to TH11 or Clan Wars exclusively or upgradable traps or tress or bushes... :rolleyes:

I did trophy push for a while but found it so hard to get a decent amount of gold and at 1,000 every time you hit NEXT it seemed pointless to spend 50,000 - 100,000+ to find a base where you could make a profit also I did enjoy farming.
Also I liked to battle a lot and would use quick trained troops usually I would take
10 hogs
9 Giants
1 Healer
10 Bombers
40 archers
6 Barbarians
4 Minions and
57 Goblins
into battle. Using these troops meant I could have a battle every 20 mins or less.
I only used my King and Queen when I had to because even at level 8 they could take up to an hour and a half before you could use them again, anyway when you get a lot of DE you would always get people coming and using a lightning spell on your DE storage.
I have kept everything else inside my walls out of curiosity to see how many people will try to win the battle or just take my gold and elixir.
I have so far noticed that the higher up I have went more people are trying to win the battles than just take my gold.

Sorry man, sad to see people who have done such a good job like that leave the game. Well, you can always come back!

But that doesn't happen to me. I only play at weekends, but my base gets attacked at least once a day for the whole weekdays.

Edit: But that was 2 weeks ago. Maybe something has changed.

I stopped playing 3 days ago. Not wanting to spend anymore on gems and sick off waiting for troops to train.
The most fun I had with this game was over Christmas. It was great fun spending a few gems for a quick 45 minute season. Don't have the time most days to do a 2 hour stint and gave up tying to push for trophies as every time the game timed out some one would take 20+ with a full hog attack.

It's a rich man's game. Once you have had your fun and realize it will take years to upgrade the insanely ridiculously high priced walls - you quit. I have seen more than half the players in my high end clan walk away from the game - people i know personally - once they realize they will NEVER be able to compete at the highest levels (due to not having resources to buy lev 40 king and queen and 5 million dollar wall pieces) - so why try? None of you will ever compete without that level 40 king and queen and high level wall pieces. Take a look - NO ONE with less is anywhere near the top and never will be. That is the flaw in this game. It was perfect for being a cash cow. But as people realized the uselessness of trying to compete with those who dropped 10K on the game - they simply quit.

Now add to that the fact that the company sold and you have seen NO NEW material in 8 months (other than adding levels to what already exists) - players got board and left. The game just isn't exciting any more. You need new material to keep it exciting - nothing....crickets...

Now read the posts here - i play with my knees - i let my dog play - to keep interested. That's what you call lack of new material - which spells the end for any game.

So there are a few reasons players walk - but the realization that you will never have a shot at the top without dropping some serious cash will mean players quitting. If enough players quit - all those small dollars dropped on gems will hurt SC - thus leaving the game for rich players only. That's a bad end game plan. Wall prices are a joke.

He will eventually - yes. Once he realizes he will never be pro - it will become just another thing in the background. He won't run out and buy the latest gear and put his heart into it they way he did when he first started - thinking he will be - when he won't. So yes - he will and it's the same feeling when you quit a game you realize you can't win. Those are just the facts of life.

But more importantly - his game does not require him to spend 10K either...does it?

Well I have maxed all my buildings, storages, defenses and mines, all my Elixir troops and spells as well as most of my Dark troops are maxed, King and Queen are only at level 8 (I did not like them sleeping too long) and my walls are all level 9 because I refuse to pay the enormous sum of 3 million per wall
(250 walls X 3 million = £750,000,000) if I raided 2 million a day it would take over a year to upgrade them all, far far too much and too long.

Im sorry you feel that way.

I have passion for many sports, I realized I would never be pro but it doesnt stop me enjoying my sessions or wanting to buy improved kit. I set my own challenges and would never quit just because I cant be number one.

lol no its not illegal , it may however be against supercells t&c's but i have no idea about that all i know is there are loads of bases for sale on the famous auction website
