One of the first thing CoC tells you is to protect your TH. One of the first things you learn by yourself (or through clan mates advice) is that that is hogwash. But, to me, in a game where you spend so much time upgrading defences, to have so many players say they don't want to win defences, because the game actually punishes you in every way but trophies, when you actually win defences. If you actually do what the game tells you to, to protect your TH, and do it well, you are punished with attack after attack after attack, and if you are a TH10 saving up for a 7.5 million or 8 million upgrade and have over 4 million of each resource, that means each time you lose a single storage, that's 100k lost. I've had stretches where I've defended over 10 times before I get a shield (and only got the shield because every trap, cc troop, inferno tower and xbow were used up/depleted) My reward? Sure, some trophies. But also nearly a million lost of elixir and gold, and probably around 8000 DE lost.
I personally think the game would be better if they provided more incentive to actually win defences. Less people would be on shields, so more loot will be available. It just seems silly that what seems to be a majority of CC players don't even try to win defences. Yes, farming is paramount for most in the game, and I don't blame anyone for putting TH's on the outside, even the lvl 135 trying to save up his walls. I do blame SC for not addressing the disincentive there is to protect one's TH and win defences, and in fact, making it a hell of a lot worse in the last loot update)
What can they do, to create less of a disincentive/more incentive to protecting TH?
1. Loot Bonus for winning defences? This could help, I would make them bigger than the attack loot bonuses.
2. Short Shield after an successful defence? You really get punished for keeping the attacker under 40%. Have a poor defence? You get rewarded with a shield! Good defence? No shield for you. Instead, at least give a short shield to a successful defence to at least give them some time to refill xbows, towers, traps, and CC. This would still ignore that some people actually have to sleep and do things other than play CC all day, but still, it would stop the defence log where once you get attacked once, you get barraged continuously until you finally get a shield
3. Don't make gravestones visible to attackers? As mentioned in previous point, you tend to get barraged with attacks after you get attacked once. Easy reason. Because people see gravestones at your base and assume no CC troops so its open season on your base.
4. CHANGE THE LOOT SYSTEM: Make it so the more stars someone gets, the more loot is available. Drop the base available from storages considerable (say, to 175k/175k/1.75k). Then, you multiply that amount by 1.5x if you 1 star a base, by 2.0x if you 2 star a base, and 2.5% if you 3 star a base. This would be my favourite solution (of course, don't need to do just one).
It's just frustrating actually winning defences and then looking at loot lost and saying "what's the freaking point"?
