Most likely, you just can not. What's said is said.
I thought the coolest and most unique aspect of this game was that I could play as an individual and not be forced into neighborhood or clan concepts. Also playing in a global economy somewhat equally (still some side trading goes on) with lots of other cool people all across the planet.
Now the game has changed to a format common with other games and kind of lost it's individual contributor appeal. That is a disappointment to me and something I can no longer brag about to other folks about why I like this game.
My three cents...fwiw.
I am wondering if the next step is that we shall all be going to war with each other and the clans? Perhaps introducing zombie farmers into the game that we can shoot at?
Lol, exactly, I expect little people from coc to come invade my farm. :)
SC fundamentally changed the game with the update, it's their right do to whatever they like. I have said I will give it time. However I just sorted my gc friends by recent... Scrolled to the bottom, 8 no longer have had installed. 40 haven't played in 4 days. Anyone else care to do the same and see just how many are not playing any longer?
Very well said. Time will tell if this will become the norm or not. I know things are not back to the old style of play yet. One can only hope. The option is to find new friends and try to recoup the old feel and style of the game, or abandon it. The problem I see is they are going to continue to cram this nh stuff down our throats and make it more and more prominent ( read essential part of gameplay) and needed to enjoy the game.
There is another similar game called Township which allows a more individual aspect of play. It has farming and time management concepts also. I have tried it, preferred Hay Day better...but now with this new clan concept it might be worth taking a look at the at the Township app again.
I am hoping Supercell can balance out needs of both individual style play and clan play...but if not I might be moving to a different app.
Cricks explained the problem and how to find out when the player really last played here:

IMO, just checking their farms doesn't work. Some people haven't played for weeks, but their machines are still running. And some people play only on weekends, and their farms might look untended but aren't.
No offense at all, I appreciate your opinion and point of view. I am not mad or upset. Disappointed more than anything. It seems very poorly designed and implemented. They didn't even listen to what the people that wanted chat actually wanted. Somehow they managed to get SOCIAL out of people wanting chat. The missed the mark completely IMO.
I have said from the beginning I will give it time, however I am not hopeful it will get better. I've never seen a software company change paths once they start down the wrong one. :) They have ruined the game of hay day as it once was IMO.
Thanks, I was unaware that they experienced that. To be double sure enter their hd game in Game Center so it populates the most current date. I suspect they didn't wait until all of gc was updated. Watch the internet activity icon when entering gc and wait for it to stop. They likely did not wait until it fully populated.
It's disappointing to because all SC did was take the brilliant idea they already came up with and put it in this game. If I wanted to play COC I would, but I don't. While many love COC the concept to that game is much different then Hay Day but by doing these neighborhoods, it is now COC with farming. They had the big opportunity to come up with a new idea to bring communication to Hay Day, but instead they took their old idea(again brilliant for COC)and stuck it in Hay Day.
All anybody was asking for was a way to communicate or leave messages to existing neighbors and followers. I don't even see the point of following anyone anymore, unless I was below level 29. I wanted to help my low level followers, but now I can't communicate with them, I can't invite them into my neighborhood and I am busy now trying to make my own little neighborhood work. Why am I going to waste my supplies on helping my followers or existing neighbors? I need them to help my neighborhood or I might get kicked out for not contributing. This is the attitude people will take now and I just don't know if I like that attitude change.
You can also see by looking at this new global event who the top neighborhoods are, and that is just like COC, and I don't want to waste my time trying to compete with that, I would need to borrow money for you CAST to buy diamonds to keep up with that, lol.
COC with farming abilities. I think I would rather just play COC at least you would get some frustrations out by going and blowing up someone's area or beating the bots for an achievement.
Speaking of attitude change, my wife plays this game about two days ago she got muted and now every times she starts the game a pop-up appears saying she was muted cos said something inappropriate. She didn't cuss or anything like that, so what's up with that?
Are people in hay Day as stupid as some in general chat on CoC? I had a different impression about players of this game.
Not sure why someone was reported, but I will say it is very easy to hit the report button by accident. Have a look and you will see, people have already said in some threads that they accidently hit the report button. So that could be why and then it could be the neighborhood they are in is way fussy. I know some have family neighborhoods with kids in it, so they are being extra fussy for their kids, which is understandable.
SC did do some work later yesterday on the filter, so you can now type words like bolts. I know we were laughing cause we had to type steak because it was censoring stake. But it seems to be way better since they did a fix yesterday.
Exactly, how did communicate become NHs or social. All anyone wanted was a quick n easy way to communicate with your in game friends and followers, they failed miserably at the most basic level. Not sure who beta tested it or who was part of the designed, but you can bet they were CoC players. Hay day is not (err was not) CoC..
How many people actually talk with their irl neighbors? They could have opted for some sort of farmers coop based on location, USA vs canada vs Asia vs Australia etc. with no opt out feature, and implement a simple chat or msg feature. That would have made a whole lot more sense and feel inclusive not exclusive. Heck even let people select which country or continent they wanted to represent.
CAST. I am starting to feel the same way as you all and I am going to start a thread explaining to my friends what my actions are going to be, but it has taken me three attempts to do that because of the emotions flowing through my fingers. Thanks for all your thoughts. At first I didn't agree with you and like you wanted to give it some time. I have and instead of liking it more I am liking it less.
Tigg.
Hi Kanga,
Our hood has been chatting a lot. I love it! And couldn't be happier. Until you get a real fix answer from SC, try just sending a bunch of messages with one period each. The thread length that remains in view is limited. So you can for all intensive purposes "hide" this errant chat. A temporary fix.
Ruby Robbins, a friend of ours, is in our hood, Gramercy Park. We see that you're already in a hood but we wanted you to know that we would like to extend you an invitation to Gramercy Park. We're a fun group of daily players that are very helpful to each other and have great stalls. We tried sending you an invite but since you are already enrolled in a hood, the invite immediately bounces back. Should you find yourself looking for a great hood in the future, please kik me at janet789 or PM janet*m
Happy farming!
Janet
It is just so limited with 20 players.
Yesterday morning people were posting their neighborhood names and I kept searching and could not find them. I finally found one, turned out it was the NH you were in Cast. There was only you and 1 other guy at the time, I posted hello, just popping in to test this out. I stayed for awhile but it was very clear to me that you were both so much further in the game, that with the limited 20 spots, I felt me staying would be unhelpful to both of you. You both could have helped me big time I'm sure, but I would have nothing really to offer back.
I could not figure out how I could benefit either one of you since you were both well over 10 levels above me. Your stocked well, so what the heck would someone at my level have to offer. So limiting this to so few, can impact the game for some in this way. I have a decent list of existing neighbors and I worked hard to get that list balanced with different level players, that way I could benefit many and many could benefit me. But that theory does not work with the 20 limit. I found that out when I started the game months ago, had to increase my friend list by many and I worked to get higher levels then me, some at the same and some lower levels. But now with the limited amount it will work best if you pretty much stick to mostly people in your neighborhood close to your level.
:( it's a shame too, however if you post a msg or start a thread it will be better received then mine. You have 10x the posts I do and are well respected here. They really screwed the pooch with this nh garbage...IMO and I do realize it's just an opinion :) hopefully shared by more than just a few.
yea, I tried Credendum's nh called the red lobster, and enjoyed chatting with him, Katy and a few others (not sure what your farm name is). However after 1/2 a day, it just didn't feel right. It felt odd, like IRC 1st feels odd. It doesn't belong in the game, I can't just leave a msg for my followers or friends. I can't go to sleep then wake up and scroll back through what I missed. Additionally no way to tell who is idle, what language they speak. Furthermore my farm was being neglected and the notification someone chatted is broken. Add that to that underlying change to the dd, my neighbors rss and the boat filling issue, it's ruined the game.
I'm currently offshore and can't play.
So I haven't updated Hay Day yet, and haven't experienced any of the new features of the game.
But reading through the forum and all threads...............my first feeling is exactly what is described over here.
It will ruin the game for me.
I really thought they would enable the possibility to chat with everyone in your friends/last helper/follower list.
That would be useful! And shouldn't be difficult to develop.
If you're only allowed to chat with people with who you're connected in a neighborhood, then that doesn't add any value.
Especially if there are only 20 people allowed in a neighborhood.
I will give it a try when I'm back onshore next week, but I don't think I'll join a neighborhood (I've got 100+ neighbors, which of them neighborhoods should I participate in without being neglected by all the others?).
Will my neighbors still want to trade BEM/SEM/food etc with me when I'm not in their neighborhood?
I guess not, they'll trade only with the people in their neighborhood. So this will effect for me the game drastically, and not in a positive way unfortunately.
I think in the long run, this will turn into CoC with a bit of farming, the whole social part is ruined, while if SC had done their homework the social part would have been extended (being able to chat with your in-game neighbors, helpers and followers).
They bring this feature as we all requested this................but in fact, no one asked for this kind of chat. No one!
Its actually worse than what is being described, I am putting it mildly to ward of the mods. :) I look forward to your opinion when you get back and can experience it in alls its' glory. Lol
i am searching the forums about chat and as of yet can't find where anyone wanted this type of chat. All the posts are about simple ways to chat with your neighbors. I guess sc figured neighbors were not friends and followers and fumbled miserably at implementing a simple msging system.
As this thread has taken a different turn to what the title suggests, it's time to close this now.
Please post your feedback in one of the other threads on this topic.
