Chat is useless at the moment, and SC shot themselves in the foot.

That isn't to say I can't cull out/unfriend those that are now playing. After all, my friends I have now played a certain way up until this last update, will it balance out and change? Time will tell.

I can certainly tailor my game by eliminating those in neighborhoods, only helping those not affiliated with neighborhoods as someone pointed out above. Not selling in my rss any longer, it is easy to be self sufficient at my level. The only thing it's going to do is slow me progressing to the next level.

However, if you take all my comments into view, it means less diamond purchases by me, which does in a small way effect SC. I am printing my App Store receipts to PDF to attach to my letter to SC and my numbers were off, I have spent $6,000 since I started to play, not including my wife. I am very fortunate that $6k isn't a lot of money, especially for something I enjoy. Based on SC revenue I am a drop in the bucket, however I suspect I am not the only one that spends a bit on this game.

I do realize it is just a game, it isn't the end of the world and I do appreciate everyone's point of views and opinions.

i am passionate for some other reasons too, but I won't go into those. However it's less money than I have in my console games and a whole lot more fun... Well at least it used to be. I am still waiting to see how things shake out.

fwiw a ps3 game here is between $80 to $120 new at Walmart and 30% more for ps4 games.

judging from the other threads people are already leaving or have left.

I've only spent $50 and that is only because I was given an ITunes card 2 years ago and never spent it. I was waiting until they rolled out the confirmation button for everyone(I have had it since Nov)before I bought more diamonds. Now there is no way I could ever spend $6000 like Cast has, just don't have that kind of money, however my $50 I have spent to me is the same as Cast spending $6000. It depends on how much a player has to spend on entertainment, I don't have the money he does, but to spend $50 is a big deal for me on a game. I'm sure others feel the same about the little bit they have spent.

I'm really low on diamonds, I passed up the Valentines special of $2.99 last night, good deal, I can afford that, but I am waiting to see how this all pans out before I spend even $2.99 on this game. I absolutely love the game, actually have given up other hobbies for this game. But it's back to waiting for me and no diamond buying until I see how this all pans out.

Not much for complaining and I try to be very picky when it comes to this game about complaining, not said a word about the donkey price(lol), but there is a huge difference between the donkey price and major changes.

Hi. I don't have to time to finish reading the rest of the replies to this thread, but was curious if this is true? I thought your Game Center friends would still be able to access your farm/rss even when you aren't connected to GC?

I never purchase diamonds and immediately regretted using them.
I thought the chat function would be different.

Its not entirely true as there are still 5 friends not in FB or gc that can still access your rss. Also anyone on the leaderboard can, and anyone they have helped in the past can access there rss. So it's not true lol.

I've started a neighbourhood, there are currently 7 members. We've had a chat, asked if anyone needs any help, discussed what boats are coming in. But we are all still selling in the RSS. I'm still going through the DD looking to help with boats and trees. It hasn't changed the way we play. But we are all friends from another game and forum. If we weren't friends previously I don't believe that this transition to chat would have smooth and plain sailing. I do believe that the chat feature will have an effect on what items are sold in the DD and some now will only help those in their neighbourhoods. I think the points that CAST made are very valid. It will be interesting to see if long term players who put money in to the game leave and I think many will consider it.

The part I personally dislike about the chat feature is that I cannot chat to all of the people I have added as neighbours over time. Very often my neighbours and I have helped each other out, sent PM's back and forth and almost got to know each other a little (as much as you can in a game I suppose) some of us have been playing and been neighbours pretty much since the game started. Sure, we are all still neighbours, and can still send messages through the forum, but for me, to be able to chat to all of the friends I added would have been great.

I wish we could just chat with our neighbors instead.. I haven't joined a NH yet because I feel like I won't chat enough or something along those lines and I'd get kicked out, easier to just not be in one at the moment.

Well, I definitely see an effect on DD. Naysayers or not, I have eyes, and definitely feel it. I have not joined any neighborhood. One I created I promptly left, it's not what what I expected.

I expected chat, not clash of clans clicks and private trading on massive scale. Oh well. I guess time will tell if this is a death blow to a great game. So sad too, as diamond confirm was added and I bought diamonds last night after a very long drought.
