I, too, am thinking about quitting.
I used to love playing Hay Day (in fact, I'm much too addicted). I've always felt happy farming, I loved doing the farm work, looking after my animals and pets, helping other people and shopping in DD. Now, since the introduction of this *** NH system, the emotional experience is different. Seeing all these NH badges on other farms brings up all kinds of bad real life memories about groups I didn't belong to or felt excluded from.
Of course I've got several invitations to join nice NHs. That's not the point, and it's in fact another problem because I can't join them all.
And the chat doesn't add any benefit. If I can choose only one NH, then of course I would join people I already have KIK or some other kind of communications with.
Not happy at all.

I have many of the same fears that have already been stated in this thread. I know I'm still playing the same game I was playing before the update yesterday. When I logged on this morning(I was later then normal for me), after I did my own boat and flagged 2 crates, I hit my existing friends help list first. When I went through that and helped who I could, then I did my neighborhood list. That is how I will continue.
I also through this picked up a couple of new friends to add to my neighbors through the forum. I think that is one thing that we can do is try to add in new forum players that want to continue to play the game they were playing. I only joined the neighborhood I did because of one of my existing neighbors from this forum. We already communicated and did a few things for each other through PM's and the chat has made that easier. However it is not the chat I wanted, I just wanted to be able to communicate with existing neighbors, say hey thanks for the help, come to my shop for a reward or whatever like that. I also wanted to give some of my lower level players and followers some extra feedback.
But it is what it is and I'm gonna stick it out for a bit and see what happens. Fingers are crossed that it does not change the play to much. Any forum member that I am not already neighbors with feel free to add me, info is in the sig line.
I started a neighborhood for my wife and daughter and myself to swap building materials. That worked great! They knew the NH name, searched for it, and joined. I set the NH as "anyone can join"...it is now filled with 20 members. Great, but I can't communicate directly with any of them. All we can do is write something in the chat box...and then what???...wait for them to see it. You can only chat with someone if they are in the NH at that time.
Also, what is this INBOX? I have yet to receive anything in there. How do I send something to someone else's inbox? Is there some sort of email within the NH that I have yet to see or figure out?
Invitation issues...some of my followers are not in a NH, so I click the invite button, but it still says I can only invite my FB friends! Seriously!?! Finally, someone that is NOT in a NH and I still can't invite them, nor communicate with them!?!
As far as FB is concerned, the only ones interested in farming are already deep into farmville...and the others are NOT interested in any game like Hay Day.
Finally, why is there a minimum level of 29 to be able to join my farm? What if I want to help lower level players? I just got a co-worker interested in HD but I can't even have her part of my NH. If my neighborhood remains full at 20 members, when she does hit level 29, I would have to kick someone out of my NH to allow her to join.
In another thread, I saw someone suggest not to slam the update until the bugs are worked out. Well, I dont see these things as bugs, rather design flaws. The only "bug" I have experienced is the asterisk issue, but that is well documented in other threads, so no need to add it here.

Thanks for all the feedback and opinions.
like I said time will tell. New system, people still haven't updated, global event, holiday in some parts of the world, etc. I will stick around a while longer, and will write a nice letter to the CFO and management of Supecell and SoftBank outlining my concerns.
However I concur with the post about seeing the badges on shops, it seems very clickish, clannish, etc and very exclusionary not inclusionary.
there has only been one company in history that I can remember that recovered from such a disasterus fumble. It was coca cola when they introduced new coke and brought back regular coke as coke classic.
Unfortunately I feel they will continue to push the social aspect and include NH competition etc. just look at this cookie event and look at the NH competing. Somehow the powers at be screwed the pooch and figured the chat/NH was needed.
why fix something what is not broke. Hayday was an escape, now it is not.
DD is good, but its not a key to the game, imho. Its function is equal to every other tab available.
The DD is no different a tool than the "Followers" tab, the "Friends" tab, the "Last Helpers" tab.
"Neighborhoods" is just another tab to add to the fray to click on to find goods you need.
Pretty simple stuff. :o
To be honest, it's not made any difference as to how I play and it won't. I still help people from the DD, my neighbours and I've had people help me and still am able to find land and barn items. I see the neighbourhood and chat as an in game facility as to what exists outside. Having seen some of the very high level farms In motion and responses to people asking how people manage to contribute so much so quickly to events, I'm sure that are groups of players who do work in a neighbourhood type environment and system and do sell and buy items to each other before this facility existed.
I've set up a neighbourhood with those who I know personally as that's how I want it to work for me but maybe in time, I might change it. Others will have other ways as to how they want it to work for them and that's ok with me.
Couldn't have said it any better, lexy.
Spot on!! :)
I don't think you need to feel that way about the badges. I believe there are lots of ppl who just started their own NH with nobody else. I also created a NH but I set it to invite only and actually I have no intention to invite anyone :p I did it so that nobody can invite me and also I like that cat icon :p
Exactly Lexyboo, however with one important difference, the quantity of people that we're playing this way... Before the hardcore traders already had their systems setup and it was a very small percentage. Now the entire mas has access to play this way, that's where the error lies. It fundamentally changed the scope and gameplay not just for a handful, but for all.
An observation can be made that not all groups of friends are going to be effected, but some will, mine definitely has.
That isn't to say I can't cull out/unfriend those that are now playing. After all, my friends I have now played a certain way up until this last update, will it balance out and change? Time will tell.
I can certainly tailor my game by eliminating those in neighborhoods, only helping those not affiliated with neighborhoods as someone pointed out above. Not selling in my rss any longer, it is easy to be self sufficient at my level. The only thing it's going to do is slow me progressing to the next level.
However, if you take all my comments into view, it means less diamond purchases by me, which does in a small way effect SC. I am printing my App Store receipts to PDF to attach to my letter to SC and my numbers were off, I have spent $6,000 since I started to play, not including my wife. I am very fortunate that $6k isn't a lot of money, especially for something I enjoy. Based on SC revenue I am a drop in the bucket, however I suspect I am not the only one that spends a bit on this game.
I do realize it is just a game, it isn't the end of the world and I do appreciate everyone's point of views and opinions.
