Don't know if the difference would be negligible or not, but if it only takes (relatively speaking) a small amount of Elixir to upgrade all currently available elixir-needed-upgrade-ables, why not have a conversion option? Convert your Elixir into Gold. If it is truly 3 billion to upgrade the Gold-requiring stuff and since elixir and gold both produce at the same rate, then the exchange rate should be 1 for 1.
Or, perhaps introduce a fusion feature where you can 'fuse' two mines into a 'super mine' and have that mine produce at say 150% more than if the mines were kept separate. This would only be available at lvl 10 or 11 mines. (If you've played Marvel: War of Heroes, you are familiar with the fusion concept and what it does)
He is right, but I don't think there's much they can do...maybe increase the gold production a little, but they can't increase it too much. And his economics aren't "ludicrous" they r actually well thought out. Albeit his original presentation was a bit weird and uncomprehenseable, his clarified point is based on sound fact
