Helpful forum tips/answers NOT listed in the FAQs. HYPERLINKS, GROUPS, MODSHIP.
Okay-
We all love the forums. We are all here with the goal of being a community and improving Clash of Clans as a game. We also have a lot of questions about HOW to do certain things like hyperlinking, how to join or create forum groups, and how to become a mod.
HYPERLINKING:
Hyperlinking is when you link a URL to a certain word without pasting the URL into the post. For example, let's say I wanted to have it so that when you click on the word HERE, it will take you to the forum rules.
In order to do this, you first have to type the word HERE.
Then, you double click on HERE so that it is highlighted.
Next, click on the world in chains icon directly under the smiley face icon. (NOTE: This is NOT the icon with the red X.)
Now you want to enter the URL into the box that appears, and click OK.
The word HERE is now hyperlinked to the forum rules page.
FORUM GROUPS:
There are a bunch of groups around the forums for many different purposes, sort of like clans in the game, and in fact there are forum groups for certain clan families. Creating or joining a forum group is easy, and no, it doesn't require a clan castle or cost you 40k gold.
HOW TO JOIN
You can join a forum group easily.
Go to groups by clicking the 'community' tab at the top to the left of 'forum actions'.
Click on 'Groups'. This wil take you to the group page, where you will have a list of recommended groups. You can view the full list of groups by clicking 'view all'.
When you join a group, that group will appear when you enter 'Groups' by clicking on 'Community'.
HOW TO CREATE
Creating a forum group is just as easy as joining one.
Enter groups as we did earlier.
Like a thread, the option to 'create a group' is at the top of the group page, and looks very similar to the 'reply to thread' button.
Now you'll need to select your group type, Name your group, and create a description. You can change all of these after you've created the group EXCEPT for the group name.
After this, just hit save, and you've created a group!
MODERATORS AND MODSHIP
Moderators are the backbone of the forums. They keep everything running smoothly and help out a lot. As they are such instrumental and powerful figures, a lot of people are interested in becoming mods, and wonder just how to be considered.
REQUIREMENTS FOR MODSHIP:
1. You must be at least 18 years or older.
2. You cannot have any recent infractions.
IT'S A GOOD IDEA TO:
1. Have a reliable and solid track record of forum- rule- abiding posts.
2. Know the forum rules, ToS, and stickies very well, if not by heart.
QUOTING A POST
You may see a lot of people who quote posts, where the text that they're quoting is in a separate box and is in italics. This, as well as the multi-quote option will allow you to directly respond to comments on your thread.
TO QUOTE
To quote a post you need to click the "Reply with quote" button that is at the bottom right corner of the post that you'd like to quote.
Now just type what you want to say into the box that appears, and you've posted a quote!
TO MULTI- QUOTE
In order to multi- quote, letting you quote and respond to more than one post at a time, is just as easy.
Find the "+ speech bubble icon to the right of the "Reply with quote" button.
Click this icon on all of the posts that you want to quote. On the last post that you want to multi- quote, instead of hitting the multi- quote icon just hit "Reply with quote".
You'll be taken to the screen that has all of the quotes you checked listed in it. You've multi- quoted!
