First post...premature TH9, need lots of advice...

get your giants to 6.. and start farming and building up your splash defense

The good news is that your troops aren't too far behind. You are going to want to farm, which means hanging low in trophies, putting your TH outside to get shields easily, and raiding with cheap and quick to build armies.

To elaborate, I mean your barbs and archers are at good levels, so use those to farm. You will want to focus your lab on getting giants and wall breakers higher asap. Expect to get destroyed 100% on defense, and plan accordingly by not logging off with large amounts in storages. Don't break a shield unless you can get in multiple raids.

The advice so far is good, although I myself would rather go with goblin upgrade over giant upgrade, since BAG (barb archer gob) is faster cooking than a giant-centered army - that's user preference though. BAM is also good and could work, albeit your minions are on the lower side. Check youtube for guides. Either way you should be farming at lowish rating, somewhere between mid silver and mid gold would be my guess - where ever you find decent loot. Look for bases with exposed collectors with goodies in them, or easy/premmie TH8+ bases.

Building-wise, you need to max your army camps, 20 extra troops adds a lot. You have to work on Mortars, WTs, and getting X-bows up and running. After that you can focus more on point defenses, and don't neglect walls - get them to level 7 at least, but preferably 8 and your core surrounded by 9s (before moving on to TH10 that is, don't need those right away, they're a grind).
When you have your army camps done you can work on your DE drills or storage if you have excess elixir. Elixir usually maxes fairly fast if you BAM/BArch or BAG, due to the low troop costs.

That's the kind of post I would like to give a positive rep on (SC? :D)

Goblins would also be my advice, and wallbreakers.

personally I farm with barbs, archers, gobs and wallbreakers and it is extremely efficient. BAG strategy.

maxing army camps is also a good advice.

once you have done so, you can farm like any other TH9, just nake sure you spend all your gold before you log off, until your defense is able to withstand attacks better.

Oh dear. Raid like cray til you can upgrade get most troops to maxed for th 9

all i can say is raid and dont go to th10... if you were th 10 i would tell you to find a different game :p you're kind of lucky

4 gold storage (1 at 11, 3 at 10)
4 elixir storage (2 at 9, 2 at 11)

Any advice as to what I should upgrade next and what I should do would be really appreciated. I don't mind further gemming to get where I need to be, I'd just like to know the where to concentrate the effort to maximize the recovery time.

If it helps, I was there, I didn't ask or receive advise on what is smart to upgtrade until after I rushed to TH8. I wasn't a super preemie, but I learned about the loot system after the damage was done. I am capping my TH 9 in a month (except walls), and at that point I intend to stay at TH9 because it seems easier for loot and upgrading walls.

I suggest you do similar. Luckily you didn't upgrade to TH 10, or you would really find yourself on the struggle bus. Just make it priority to keep your lab researching at all times, and to keep upgrading the rest with builders. Don't worry about walls for now until your defensive buildings and other buildings are close to capped for TH9. Once you near that point, you should find upgrading walls much easier and efficient that it is now. Clash on

For quite a bit... Farming will be your best friend. As other people are stated slowly build your way back up. Thankfully your lab upgrades arent that bad, and things could be worse. Work on upgrading your base and always have your builders working. Hope that helps :)

In fact, giants have a faster training time per space than goblins so giant based armies would have a faster training time. Other than that, great post.

I noticed that you just have barbs and minions in your army camps. Throw in some archers for a much better army even if they aren't level 6. I'd also advise on not using minions until you get your queen.

Just a word of encouragement here, you can achieve whatever you put your heart to, as long as you know you made that wrong step (earlier)... March on! 👍

go to gold 2 and try Barch or BAM on collector bases. The priorities for gold are splash defenses to max level and basic elixer troops to max level for TH9.

Gem a queen if you can

When I upgrade to TH 9 my base is even worse than yours. But it is recovering at healthy pace. My suggestion: if you want to gem, use it for Archer Queen. She helps a lot at farming. Also get your army camps to the max.

as i look at your base, u have 5 elixer, id suggest collector bases

And I'm doing very fine without single gems

don't bother to do any def first as a new TH9 because that won't help us. Whatever you upgrade first, you'll get farmed anyway... just spend all your excess gold into walls because the best we can do now as a premie is keeping our storages as low as possible

You may focus on getting AQ first... she's a very big help on your army...
then you should max army camps, spell factory by first priority

what I do is BARCH+WB and BAM... I just have lv.5 troops and it works fine for me...
for the spells, 1 lightning to zap cc, then the rest is heal and rage

Sounds like you got a lot of good advice from some great players. I was rushing TH when i started and playing like a jacka** and after reading and reading adopted the max everything prior to TH strategy and like it. I just maxed everything and went TH6 and i can say you have deff neglected walls... My TH6 finished yesterday and when i get home ill have a free builder and i will be all LV6 walls tonight and hopefully LV7 walls by next weekend and I'm 3 TH below you so you obviously able to get some decent farming in do some walls when you have a free builder here and there.

As title, I would suggest to put all resources to upgrade ur offensive related buildings and the troops.

1. Elixir Storages: use one builder to max all. It allows you to store more elixir to upgrade ur troops.

2. Max your Army camps, sorry I forgot L6 army camp is already maxed or not for TH9. If yes, you already done it.

3. Max your Clan Castle to have more troops inside. It's good for both offense and defense.

4. Max your Lab and Spell factory.

5. Max your Dark barracks. (At least one)

6. Continue to farm elixirs to upgrade ur troops. Archer, Goblin, Minion, Balloons are very useful troops and could be consider to upgrade to the max first. Then Wall breaker, hog, giant and finally you could upgrade the rest, like dragon, golem, wizard, witch, etc.

7. Once your offensive buildings are all maxed and your frequent used troops and all maxed, you could start to upgrade your Gold Storages and then try to max ur defensive buildings. Xbow -> Mortar -> Wizard tower -> Air defense -> Archer tower -> Cannon.

8. Meanwhile try to upgrade your walls and traps, if your builder is free and do not have enough resource to do big upgrade.

Upgrade DE storage to max, when you going to start upgrade ur dark troops.

Tesla also need to be upgrade, once you finished Xbow, mortar, wizard tower and air defense.

Offensive related buildings should be maxed very soon. Then you will have many builders to help on defensive building upgrade. Like me, I use 3 builders for defensive building upgrade, 1 builder for hero upgrade and the rest one for walls and traps.

It's going to be a long road to undo your premmie, but just stick through it! Good luck.

I've been farming using mostly the BARCH method and have been averaging about 1.75 to 2 million elixir and gold per 2-hour gem boost raid session. I also get around 2k Dark Elixir during that time.

Any other thoughts as to what else I should concentrate on?

Nice that you're progressing. I'm just wondering how many rax you are boosting, as you say you total 1.75-2 mil / 2 hour boost? Because I mostly boost rax when doing armies with longer build times such as giant+healer / balloonion, that sort of thing. I find that BAM usually finishes fast enough so that it's not profitable to waste gems on the boost. Seeing you're running BArch, maybe you could throw in a few giants+WBs or even some goblins in the boosted barrack? They add tremendously to the beefiness and utility overall, I like to have a couple each of giant and WB when BAMing, just for the extra tankiness just in case.
