We are now recruiting!!!
Recruitment is now open!!! Currently 40/50 members with average level of 70!! Join Now! ;)
Hi guys!
Clan Wars is here!!! Thanks to our Clan Leader-Greg (Gkc) we now have some more info about it!
Clan Wars Coordinating Instructions
Who-Our clan (top 40 members) will be able to participate. We were randomly paired with a clan of similar Town Halls.
What-Clan wars. We get to attack members of the opposing clan.
When-There is a status clock ticking that will start the attack phase. Meanwhile we are in the prep phase that allows us to donate to our clan mates and scout enemy bases.
Why-To have fun and beat the other clan. We also get some loot out of it if successful.
Actions for all hands between now and attack phase-
1. Ensure your base design protects both your Town Hall AND your Clan Castle. 2. DONATE to clan mates. Please provide our best troops available. Level 5+ archers/goblins are great for defense. Wizards are better but I realize that is very expensive. Dragons work also but again expensive. If you don't have that level yet its ok. Just pass. I am asking the guys with better troops to take on this responsibility for our first time. We can discuss a better way to win in the future.
3. Scout out enemy base. You have the luxury of time to plan your attack. Take advantage of it.
4. Plan and train the right kind of army for enemy base destruction. We are not looting-bring the max firepower and strength that you can afford.
Attack Methodology
First time out we need to keep this simple. More discussion on this will follow as we learn. For now . . .
We are numerically paired with an enemy clan member. Attack this person or if you can SUCCESSFULLY take out one that is higher in rank feel free to do so. If we all do this then I think we will have a high probability of getting 1-2 star wins.
However, I am looking for a strong TH 8 to attack enemy # 38. He has a solid TH 8 base that is a mismatch. Most of the rest of the pairings look about right.
So this sounds like a lot of fun but it will be a resource drain on all of us. I would ask that we display a high degree of teamwork and mutual support. Please follow the attack guidance. If WE ALL do the same approach, this should work. If people go off on their own program we will very likely be challenged.
I hope this forum is of value to us as a clan and becomes our venue to communicate better and share lessons to improve the performance of each member.
My thanks to Mahoone for administering this for all of us.
Take care and see u in the clan war.
Greg

Clan,
First off I would like to say again good job on the clan war. Really appreciate
the level of participation in particuar. That is a key factor for success.
The purpose of these comments is to offer some observations and perhaps even
conclusions that are intended to foster discussion amongst the clan leadership
in order to shape our future approach to clan wars.
The fundamental question is, "Do we feel as a group that regular participation
in clan wars is what we want?" If no, then no further discussion is really
required. If yes, then the following is offered-
1. Pre-preparation-
a. Having a clan with active participants is essential. Members who don't
fight in the clan war are a six star liability. They provide the enemy six
stars to take from us and give us zero opportunity to get any stars. We need to
aggressively recruit NOW to build a membership level that allows us to
selectively thin the group out if we have inactive members. This is a task that
falls on the clan leadership. Are we willing to do the work to achieve this??
2. Preparation-
a. Timing of declaration of war. We jumped into the first war in a reactive
manner because it was a new thing in the game and I was being bombarded by
members of the clan to start the war NOW!!!!!! So off we went :-). We deal
with the dynamic of differing time zones (3 in USA and the UK) in the clan. The
declaration of war timing should be discussed so we can accommodate our members
geography. I would also like to discuss weekday vs weekend aspects as well. So
please be prepared to offer thoughts on this.
b. Frequency. Would like to have a discussion on how often we should
participate in a war. There are a number of factors that should drive this. As
discussed above, member participation is a key factor for success. So, how
often we are able to do a war could become a time challenge.
c. Resource impact. In addition to the point above, I am not convinced yet
that even if you win a war that it is a net gain in resources (elixer/DE). This
is especially true if the issue below on filling war castles applies. Yes it
was nice to get some gold payout but I can be more productive for example doing
resource raids. Lets disucss.
d. War castle troop type and donations. This was handled very poorly on our
initial effort. Firstly we had people jump into the war and start throwing out
donations in a shotgun approach. I saw numerous castles that had been loaded
with lvl 4 barbarians for example. That does not set the conditions for a
successful clan war. Then I compounded the problem by providing guidance that
was poor. So, my conclusion on this (i could be very wrong) is that we need to
load the castles with the absolute best troops we AS A CLAN possess. So for
example lvl 5 wizards would be a great multiplier especially for our guys with
lvl 4 troops. So one possible way ahead on this might be to have the guys who
can make these troops take on the burden of supporting the clan with them.
There are many ways we could do this and I again would welcome any
recommendations and input.
e. Scouting. It is important to take advantage of the opportunity to look at
and plan attacks. This is just like the revenge process (cant see in cc :-( ).
Use this chance to think it through and then execute smartly.
f. Base design. The importance of having a good base that protects both TH
and cc is now critical. Many of us have not built bases that do both up to this
point. So this is a change in our clan dynamic that must be accounted for. The
quality of other players bases now effects our ability to succeed as a clan. So
to me that translates into even more elder to member and peer to peer coaching
to ensure that we have sound base designs that can withstand attacks during clan
war.
g. Army composition. We need to recognize that our armies now need to be able
to destroy bases. Many of us loot for a living and rarely pursue "3 starring a
base." This is a fundamental emotional and practical shift we need to account
for. So building the best army that you are capable of is essential. Please
note this can also be expensive. Practicing the employment of this different
army is also necessary to be proficient in its use during the war. So this is
an additional impact clan wars may have on how you regularly play the game. For
example don't try a golem/pekka/wizard attack for the first time if you have
been doing barb/archer/goblin raids. Train like you are going to fight.
h. Clan war troop requests. During clan wars we need to identify the nature
of our troop requests. If you are doing your normal resource raiding, then
sticking with your standard request is probably appropriate. If you are getting
ready to do a clan wars attack you need to say that in the request. Then the
appropriate response from the clan should be to provide you with the ABSOLUTE
BEST OFFENSIVE capability we have. For our group that is likely high level
hogs, lvl 6 giants, lvl 3 dragons, or lvl 5 wizards. Set the attacker up for
success. I am happy to assume the burden of providing lvl 5 hogs when I see
these requests. They are a force multiplier as many of you know. As more of us
get high level hogs, we should support the clan during wars.
I. Reserve force. It may be prudent to designate a few players who possess
our best offensive capability as a reserve. This provides us the ability to
gauge the progress of the war and maintain some flexibility on how we attack at
the end. For example, maybe we are desperate for trophies towards the end of a
war and it is easier to three star some low level bases that we already one
starred than to tackle high level bases that have already been one starred or
not attacked at all. We then have a strong force available that we can direct
as needed to achieve the most stars. It is great to have an uncommitted
resource available to reinforce success or worst case to avert disaster. Just
like what the clan castle provides each of us at the individual level. We would
simply apply this at a higher level.
3. Execution-
a. Strategy. This could be a novel. Nearly unlimited variables. Purpose
here is to find a simple approach that can be executed without a lot of
coordination and communication. Basically give the guidance before the war and
then let everyone execute. I can't be in the full time command and control
business for 24 hours for a clan war on top of my life and day job. Once upon a
time . . . :-) , but not now. Cheers. So on that note I will just throw out
an example or two so it generates some thought and comment.
i. As listed in my initial war guidance one approach would be to attack on
par/use the computer recommended match.
ii. Another approach that occurred to me as we progressed through the war is
to have our TH 7 guys do most of the attacking on lower level enemy bases early
in the war. Basically start at the bottom of the enemy clan and attack our way
up. As our TH7s begin to culminate/hit a wall, the TH8s weigh in and continue
the attacks up the clan list. This requires a bit of timing, patience and
communication to work. Is this achievable??
iii. Another method might be a pig pile approach. Start with TH 8/9s
attacking bases they have a high probability of getting three stars on. Then
the TH7s attack on par and get their one or two stars in the middle of the enemy
clan and we end up ignoring their higher level bases.
Anyway the options are virtually endless. Just wanted to toss out a couple
ideas for discussion.
So in summary I would like the elders to discuss and when I am on line please
present any ideas for consideration. I will compile whatever feedback I get and
come up with a way ahead that I will then present to the elders in order to
achieve alignment amongst the leadership. At the end of the day we all must be
in support of a common approach if we expect to succeed. I will do my best to
incorporate everyones ideas in that process. We will proceed with the next clan
war once we are aligned.
Thanks again for a great first war. I really enjoyed watching you all make it
happen.
Greg
I enjoyed the war but think that one a season is enough for now but of course something we can review if we like / dislike thew wars as we progress.
I think inactive players must be chopped immediately. As it was said, they are a six star liability and offer one less chance to attack.
Chop the inactive and grow through steady, constant recruitment.
We need to assess the average level of the clan and perhaps up the entry level required.
I agree we should practice attack techniques. I hadn't set out to flatten anyone in ages and made some rookie errors on my first attack. If they become active they can find us again. Arshehketan is a nice guy but was useless in battle as inactive. If all members are active we have two cracks at EVERY opposing person.
We need to scout bases as a team and offer advice and the correct troops accordingly.
I like the idea of the lower guys kicking of first and reviewing where we are. I also liked the idea of w♥♥♥♥ing your opposite number. Gave me a good long while to strategise. Shame when I came online B-Rich had three starred them lol!
I also agree that we MUST donate very wisely during battle. The first load of troops I had were chocolate ashtray territory (useless).
I enjoyed the war and think it made the clan united and fight like a team.
Coordination and communication are key. We need a battle strategist, a man at arma and a general as it were. I will upgrade my troops where i can.
Enjoying being an LF'er!
Hey guys :)
