i am currently TH8 and my balloons are only level 3 and my
minions level 1.. I never really liked the balloons because they take too long to prepare. After watching a couple of videos i decided to try them out. What level should i use them? Are level 4 any good or should i upgrade them to level 5 then start using them?
Depends on what / who you are attacking. At TH8, I would assume your opponents are all TH7-9 if you are looking to recover your resources. You will need to get them to at least level 4 if you want to be successful, but obviously level 5 will give you the much need boost if you hope to best a those TH9's out there.Quote:

level 3 and below are ♥♥. lvl 4 is so-so, but lvl 5 is pretty good. upgrade them to lvl 5 at least. minions, don't matter much, but a couple more lvls would be nice

I used Ballonion a few a times at TH8 (Level 5 Loons+Level 4 Minions) to farm DE and it worked out pretty well. You can get 50+% on almost every TH8 base and most weaker TH9 bases :)
But i wouldn't suggest it with Level 1-4 Ballons, they get taken down too fast.
Level 5 loons are good enough but nothing less is acceptable. Minion level isn't too important but obviously having level 4 helps.
You should really use lvl 6 - the upgrade difference is huge.

they couldve had poor base design. and really, level 3 balloons wont cut it for balloonions. my clanmates from my old clan tried it and failed.Quote:

Duh, obviously lvl 4 loons are good on th7 bases, lvl 5 are good on th8, lvl 6 are good on th9 and 10. Minions lvl 1-2 on th7, lvl 3-4 on th8, lvl 5-6 on th 9 and 10
Balloons are not very good until they are level 6. However, once they are level 6, they are boarderline overpowered they are so good.

Falling back to the statement where he beat a non-premmie TH8 with 3 ADs - level 6 ADs have 230 dps, and a level 3 balloon has 216 hp. I think you can do the math yourself from there.
