True, but I think many of us don't want to give out our personal information like that where everyone can see it.

Most things that can be used for good, have to potential to be abused. Why would someone say "Champions league guy in chat room 10!"? They'd wanna keep it quiet so they have more of a chance to get him to join their clan. If something like that did happen, the champion could relocate to another room, or people can mute them. If friends get together to make fun of someone, the someone can mute them. To avoid room floods, there could be a limit of how many players per room.

We could make a forum chat room! I like the idea, just I'm wondering, how many people per room?

That would be up to supercell as I don't know how their servers are programmed and what they can support. Personally, I'd say 50. Too many people in one room leads to chaos -- I used to be a chatroom moderator for another game, and I know how chaotic chatrooms can get with lots of people.

As I understand it a lot of games don't like to enable this sort of thing.
It's not exploitable in terms of game play, but it's used for various illicit/illegal activities.
(In a lot of games the communication is secured, it's also deleted so there's no history, so its perfect for this sort of thing)
So they end up supporting fake accounts created solely so dealers can arrange shady drug deals.

People will find a way to do illegal activities even if the chat stays how it is. For example, deals could just join the same clan, chat, then leave and delete the clan. We shouldn't let this stop us from making our community more personal!

I've played other games with similar chat (lobbys, chatrooms, private chatrooms, etc).

Things are indeed fine now, why? I have met countless numbers of people countless different times on global chat. Its a waste of time for SC to input this into the game, there are bigger problems at hand. It is a good idea, but an unnecessary idea.

Below is a picture of a seperate tab for private chatroooms. Any chats you are in that aren't global chat rooms or supervell made chatrooms will go here. We'll also need a screen where you can accept or decline invites to private chatrooms.

Below I have an image of how creating a chatroom would look like. Sorry, it's a very rough image, but I don't have a lot of time right now for image editing. As you can see, you can pick the chat rooms title, give it a description, and select whether its "anyone can join" or "invite only" or "closed". Elder, co leader, and leader ranks could also be included with custom chatrooms but we might wanna call them something different like: elder could probably stay elder, co leader could be changed to moderator, and leader would be creator. Elders could kick people from a chatroom (remember, we're talking about player-made rooms not global rooms) and invite people, co leaders or moderators could promote players, kick, invite, and edit all chat room details, and leader or creator can do anything (kick, promote, edit details, invite, etc).
As you can see in my screenshot, I'm creating a private/custom chatroom so all the elders in my clan can chat privately.

I like the idea of a Global Lobby. I don't like the idea of private chat, though. It's too much like Clan chat. Also, instead of having a separate tab for lobby chat, whenever you enter global chat you should have to choose a lobby.
