As the title says. Loonions 40 to 48 mins training time only allows 1 to 2 spells per raid.
Question is, is it necessary to use 4 spells per raid in cup hunting to masters?
TH9 with lv6 loon, lv5 minion.

Very easy and doable, I've done it today.
1) always have good CC troops
2) try to have heroes and keep them alive
3) keep searching, there are plenty of easy bases
4) dont over stretch, 1 star and 50% is fine.
After getting to masters Ive since speeded things up by boosting barracks and spell factory but that just means i dont have to search as much and can go for some 2 stars to speed things up.
good luck!
Great to hear! my loons r upgrading to max now so I can use em
Look for bases that were rushed to TH10 for the IT and the other defenses under-leveled
Avoid bases that have AD/WT covering each other (unless really under-leveled)
Avoid upward X-bows unless your minions can stay out of range
Use balloons to selectively take out defenses that target air
Drop minions in the pockets you've created to get 50%
Don't forget to take care of CC and/or AQ first
This strategy should help minimize the amount of spells you need since you are staying on the perimeter of the base.
I did this on my second run to Masters (during a clan push last season), and I had no problems targeting bases worth 8-11 trophies from 2500-2600.
The main issue for th9 is the defense.
Drawbacks are - absence of Infernos on defense and Freeze in spell and ofcourse extra 20 troops. but can be managed with a good clan support without hinderance.
Until crystal 1 it was a quite straight forward, atleast 2 stars and an occasionally 3 star. With 1 spell or none
(Make sure u target bases that offer more than 24 cups). I carried 2 heal and 2 rage.
Crossing Crystal 1 :
I felt from 2450 - 2600 it was a bit of strain. U dont really find many juicy raidable bases, and with weak th9 defense against th10, you could lose easily, and u end up losing 20-30 cups.
Many crystal 3/2 players start revenging you back seeing the higher cups you offer. If you have higher de to offer, piggies get attracted and a skiller hogger willl get an eazy 3 star.
Strategy :
- Gain 30-40 cups (roughly about 4-6 battles) in one sitting.
- For me being online more than 40 mins puts a strain. So another way i used was to raid at late night hrs for US, Europe. That way i could sneak out 10-15 mins breaks without getting attacked/revenged immediately.
- Keep atleast 3+ mil elixir and 15k de available. You get very dry wins if you go for weaker bases in crystal 1. You could lose resources pretty fast.
- Attack bases that you are confident to get atleast 1 star.
- I did the push just before the update was released, so i was hogged all the time. I suggest to have anti-hog base layout till you reach M3.
- Carry 1 lighting (many bases have wizzies in CC and they do a rampage on loons. I carried 1 lighting with 2 heals, 1 rage. Or 2 rage and 1 heal
In my quest, I survived to Masters 3, with 3+ mil gold, and 5+mil elix, 40k+ de all the times with 4 defense upgrades running without builders zzzing. Perhaps i was lucky. If you want to avoid that, doing de storage's, collectors would be a better choice.
Used loons combos of 16/70, 20/60, 24/50
Overall, I boosted spell and one barrack twice from 2500 onwards. (2 hr)
Was able to go from 1400ish to 2600 ish in four days.
I wanted to continue going to masters2, but lost 3 battles experimenting barching and loon combination. and playing with those discos. I got my 1000 gems, so made a wise choice to barch in 1400 instead and care a damn about cups:D
On my way down made a hefty 15k de barching, and started my hero upgrade immediately, before getting zapped by the n00bs again
Good luck !
Good advice. I got up to 2500 (up to 2400 wasn't to difficult, little harder after that) without having to gord myself on spells. I used two if I had two but often if I picked the right base and timed it right - but after you get to about 2550 you should be packing 2 and a lightening just in case. (not that you have to use them, but losing 30 trophies can hurt a bit much).
I wish I forgot about getting the th. I think that is what got me. Up to 2550 I could find bases where I could get 2 stars. After this almost everything was duel disco infernos or just plain maxed out defenses (th10)
as others have already stated, very easily possible. im currently th9 at 2930, pushing my way to champ. i get by with 24 loons 50 mins and usually 1 spell, although im getting to the point where 2 may be necessary. patience is key.. better to spend an extra 10 minutes searching than 1-2 hours recovering trophies you lost when you attacked a base out of boredom of hitting next. good luck!
Boosting spell factory certainly would make it a lot easier, but its pretty easy to 50% a base with loonnion with no spells at all. Might be a little risky going for the 2 star sometimes though
Yep, and practice makes perfect, i went to masters for the second time recently, much easier, to about 2700, then it got quite hard to avoid discos, only about 1% tough th9 on offer and those all had both xbows up (but with a couple of spells you can beat them still). 20 balloons is a good number, but 16 is possible, i try and keep cc and heroes for emergencies only and alive on def, and average 1 spell per fight. a good anti hog layout can win defenses up to masters, but in masters i found the hoggers were too good and even havin no loot didnt stop the attacks, as th9 are so rare.
Ive done an army of level 6 balloons and level 4 minions and made my way up to 2,566 without spells and took less than a week. It is done with ease, at least for me!
