Just to recap, a lot of players feel that the point of the game is NOT to get your trophy count as high as you possibly can and stay up there.
I am one of those.
That is an inefficient way to play the game. You can earn a lot more resources by finding a "sweet spot" trophy range where you can take a lot of resources from others, and they can't take a lot back from you. this lets you earn resources the fastest, and then apply those resources into upgrading your offense and defense.
Make sense?
Even if trophies were important, one could simply spend a weekend gaining trophies to their maximum potential based on the strength of their army. That's just dedicating one weekend.
OR.......
You could dedicate every day you play to earning resources more effectively/efficiently to upgrade your base to become stronger both on defense and on offense.
Just because Supercell tells you the point of the game is to protect your TH by placing it in the middle of the base and trying to earn stars and raise your trophy count is the way to win the game, doesn't mean it's the absolute truth.
