Question about trees

I am new at the game and am trying to clear some trees that were already on my farm to make room. I have purchased saws needed to chop them down but they aren't going away. It gives me planks but leaves the trees. When I tap on the trees again it pops up "Cut" and says ready with an hour glass and free, but when I tap that box it just goes away. What am I doing wrong??

You ought to be able to just tap one and see the saw icon. Drag the saw across the base of the tree and it should fall immediately.

When you say it gave you planks... What do you mean by that? Trees don't usually give out items like that.

That's what I'm doing but they aren't falling. As soon as I drag the saw across it gives me a pile of wood in my barn storage.

That doesn't sound like the game I am playing.

I'm sure it's something I'm doing wrong. When I tap a tree to cut it gives me an option to use a diamond to get a saw. Doing that. That's when it gives me planks and shows +1 saw. Do I then need to retrieve the saw? Not showing any in barn.

For best explanation pls. add some photos on this 'phenomenon' things happening at your farm. That's one of ironic things for me in this game. We cut native trees and yet we're having a problem finding planks and panels. That's also for the fruit trees we plant on our farms. Your problem is quite 'intriguing' so pls. send some photos about it.

A lower level neighbor PMed me yesterday and told me he's getting planks when he cuts down a native tree. Asked me if the same thing was happening on my farm. I tried cutting a few trees and didn't get anything. Could it be SC is beta testing stuff, and only a few farms are getting this new feature (similar to diamond confirmation button)?

I can't be certain, but from the way it was described to me I think his/her trees are cutting down. I'll try to message them and see if they can post what happened to this thread.
