why people go over kill on small reward

Completely agreed. After so many skips I tend to get extremely annoyed and take it out on a small base.

I just saw a replay of someone using 17 lvl 3 giants and fleet of lvl 3 wizards to 3-star a tiny TH5 base. S/He got less than 15k in elixir and less than 5k in gold. I couldn't figure it out either, but the replies above seem explanatory. I like to dump armies on the goblins rather than in multiplayer, though.

Got all my walls up to date, and then shortly thereafter someone 3 THs ahead of me 3-starred my base with an impressive fleet of minions, lol. Oh well, I haven't had a 16-hour shield in days, so I cooked up a bunch of wizards, healers, and archers to donate to the clan until the shield runs out.

There's also the possibility of the accidental attack (accidentally deploying a troop) and then saying screw it, may as well make it look good.

Some people literally just don't know how much their army comp can take so they just overkill it

I usually overkill just for the fun of it. To let you know your base sucks and I pwned it. Lol!

I see a lot of replays where 90% or more of the loot is in the collectors but the attacker spams a dozen giants with a couple healers to the inside for virtually no loot, and maybe an extra star, when they could have easily 50% the outside. I think some just like to have fun going all out on a base
