why people go over kill on small reward

I have noticed the few times I have lost defense that it was from a much more powerful opponent who gained very little for his trouble.
This last time for instance, was not a revenge

attacker used 17 giants at least lv2 and 2 healers and 3 wall breakers. thats 30,000 worth of elixir and a lot of training time right there plus a bunch of archers.

the reward....

11 trophies , 12k gold, 17k elixer.

so are 11 trophies worth that much to some people?

It's probably because loot is so terrible the attacker decided to go after the next available base rather than continue endlessly nexting. That has happened to me a few times since the matchmaking system was completely ruined.

Sometimes when I am nexting, and suddenly have to do something else I will just take the next I know I can win rather than drop back to main screen. (Sometimes literally spam all the troops and walk away)

If you go back to main screen you lose the time that the queued troops have been brewing, I'd rather not have that...

He could be low on Gold, so can't next. I've sometimes had to settle for stupid low attacks and went overkill just to make sure I got what little gold the person had right after I spent all my gold (usually on an 8 million upgrade, as if the upgrade is less than 8 million, i give myself some leeway room).

Could you you explain this? Does that mean that if I have two dragons queued in one barrack, and I go out and search for an hour and I use 40 troops worth of space, both dragons will be ready to battle?

Yeah I do that sometimes too. Especially when clashing during a break at work. Since elixir is virtually free (i'm perpetually maxed), if I know I'll need to put the game down for a while I'll just throw everything at whatever comes up because 12k gold is still 12k more then I had prior.

My guess is he is probably just trying out Giants/Healers. It's one of those troop combos that takes a little practice to perfect and your base might have been chosen for it's low level air defence or some other reason.

Yes, basically. Your barracks build when you are searching as if you use all your troops.

sometimes I dump all my troops to make room for a new army composition.
