Losing interest in the game for specific reasons

I really loved this game, been playing for many months now. But it's starting to get boring 1) Everything now costs too much and takes too long: It's almost impossible to save enough as I keep getting raided - e.g. I have 2.3m elixir and coins, then get raided down to 1.9. get up to 2.4 and get raided down to 1.95. repeat, repeat, repeat. I need approx 12m to upgrade defences, troops, and at this rate will take months literally. I will then need close to 20m of each to upgrade walls, spells etc - and base costs are 7m just for the base.. it will take a year to get to that point at this rate. 2) Raiding - When attacking I search for villages that will give me 150K+ of each but only getting anything from 4K to 60K no matter how many times you skip to the next.. its costs me between 200K and 500K to train the troops - so raiding is now pointless source of income. I love this game but the game play is now tedious, slow, frustrating. Only option - spend real money on gems.. I've already bought lots and although SuperCell need to make money - kind of the point! - the only way to progress now is to spend spend spend.. I think I'll be uninstalling this unless things change. thanks. FE

The game is the best until TH7, I think.
After that It can get rather annoying.
Currently playing much less as a TH8. Why play if I need to wait several days until a builder becomes free.
I wait until a builder is free, then farm the amount needed in a longer session and start the upgrade. Then play only little the next days. It was more fun until TH7, where very update did not take too long.
I chat with my clanmates however, donate and watch replays, not bothering about my own base in those long build times at all.

I guess, SC speculate that people get so hooked on the game in the first TH levels, that they start to buy every update from then onwards. Some people surely do, some people become hardcore farmers, some buy gems to finish the upgrade times (has become too expensive for me with these long times)...the majority, I believe however, just quits coc or plays only occasionally after reaching TH8.

I found TH8 to be the pinnacle of fun, since it was still relatively easy to max out walls, defences and such. I'm currently TH9 and just started upgrading my last defences, but I find wall grinding to be somewhat tideous right now. I'm planning to upgrade my TH soonish and level my heroes and walls as much as possible (got 80 something level 9 walls, rest level 8).

You will have to change your farming mentality and switch between cup ranges more often (or maybe that is just an effect on overall changes in loot, more likely), but I think your mindset is key. Will you be able to max out everything on your TH level? Yes, but it will take more time and effort than what you are previously used to from earlier THs.

Can TH9 (don't get me started on TH10 :rolleyes:) be maxed if playing casually? Probably, but only being able to play for short amounts of time spread out during the day will make things harder, since you can get raided inbetween gaming sessions, losing very hefty amounts to TH10s.

I recommend swapping to an anti-hog layout as soon as you've got your X-bows maxed, which should be your priority. Hogs are not OP, certainly not when used by bad people who think they're the go-to option for farming, but you need to use a different approach to defend against them. Good TH10s (and possibly TH9s) will be able to level your base with hogs no matter of your layout as TH9, but I still haven't been attacked by such in gold/crystal leagues.

OP, I would quit if I were you. Seriously, TH8 is a breeze compared to TH9 and up. If you don't find the game fun as a TH8 because of the costs, you'd definitely won't enjoy it later on. I'm a maxed TH9 upgrading my townhall as we speak. In didn't enjoy it as much lately as I used to. Then I decided to don't worry about builders sleeping. That made the game a lot more fun. Also made me finish my lvl9 walls in record time. Maybe that's something you can try.

after some point this game becomes a grind. Long upgrade times and huge costs. Ive been a TH10 for some time now and personally the 2 weeks upgrade time is nothing. What is really holding me back are the costs. I have to save 8 million to upgrade anything. The first 3-4 million is easy, but having over 4 million makes you a huge target and you constantly get raided. In the end I end up saving about 10-12 million for a 8 million upgrade after you factor out all my losses. I have 5 builders but im lucky if I have 2 or 3 working at once. Mostly they just wait around hoping to clear bushes....

Yeah - I think time to give up. I have 3 kids and a job - there's not enough time in the day to do this properly. SuperCell - shame as people like me may have the most spare cash to squander on games. - Superb game though - the graphics and attention to detail was greatly appreciated - thank you.

Its a shame you are giving up, however, if the game was too easy then many more people would have maxed bases, get bored and give up as well.

While yes it does take perseverance and dedication to get into the maxed TH9, TH10 area of the game, but it can only get harder. I missed the 'difficult' middle stages as I gemmed from TH6 to TH9 and took a good 6-7 months to finally max my TH9. It was a long time of playing catch-up but gave great satisfaction when I had finally done it.

Either way, it is up to you what route you take and if you decide to quit or not. I dont see myself quitting, even if i just log on daily and collect gold and plow it into walls. At least I will still be making progress :p

lol what army costs 200 to 500K? seems a lot like a complain thread about the loot again.
and losing 400K recources..?! you must be doing something wrong
