I guess you weren't around when Giant Bombs were 50K EACH. And that was just Giant Bombs. Be happy with how much cheaper they are.
I used my big bombs in pairs to smite hoggers, how i laughed when they set off the pair and the whole group just vanished! Lol love big bombs well worth it

Big Bomb -
Th7, no value. This will KO any Tier 1 troop and wizards. Sure you can do more damage to a giant but if its a giant healer combo or just a player sporting a healing spell its unlikely to make or break your defense
Th 8
If you want to trophy hunt these may come in handy to deal with hogs. But with disco infernos clogging up Mid-Upper Crystal I personally think trophy hunting at th8 is more for bragging rights than anything. Plus to make it effective you'll probably leave yourself open to any other type of attack anyway. So my verdict, not work the price.
Th9 and 10
Here these puppies are more useful. Hogs become a near farming troop along with balloons (less so now). I wouldn't prioritize them over other defenses but if you want to do a good trophy push they can save your bacon (pun intended). Still if your hanging around in Gold its probably going to be more expensive in the long run, as devastating attacks aren't that common in that range.
Air Mines -
Th 7 - again not so useful as chances are a balloon attack powerful enough to decimate you, will do it either way
Th 8 - Pretty similar to above but more critical in a trophy push than a big bomb. Balloon attacks get pretty common in Mid-Crystal. While a well executed balloon raid will get you either way, clever placement can catch someone off course. But if you just stick to lower gold, then I'd say don't worry about them.
Th9 and 10 - I'd say pretty useful here. Balloons become quite common and these puppies can take the umph outta a raid if they pop up at the right time, and now with disco infernos balloons users aren't packing healing spells as much as rage.
Seeking Air Mine -
Way overpriced to upgrade. These will only come in handy verses a heavy handed dragon raid. These are pretty uncommon. Sure they will neuter a dragon raid if they pop up at critical times, but they do plenty of damage without being upgraded. Personally since they KO everything except dragons, I see the extra cost as not worth the investment.
I never realized the high re arm cost is... I may put my giant bombs in the corner now.
I just put my more expensive traps that I don't use for farming in the corner (around my santa strike). I use them for pushing.
