What's the best use of Tom at...

So, I decided to just make a thread about it. I want to find out what the best use of Tom is at different levels, and I assume some of you have the knowledge to share. So if you're at a different level, feel free to ask the same question, and if you have answers, please help out for eternal gratitude ;-)

So what's the best use of Tom at level 27?
- For resell value in shop.
- For mine/dock/boat.
- For farming/production.

I am at level 45. I have been using Tom to find shovels to use in the mine to get enough diamonds to hire him again for 10 days. I also squeeze in finding jam and cheese and some things for the boat.

I only hire tom when I'm really short on shovels, then I'll send him to get those and some diamond rings.

Do you get enough diamonds from shovels to re-hire him?

I don't know what is the 'best' use. I have Tom all the time - I use him to get whatever I am low on, stuff for boat orders, etc. if I don't need anything, usually jewellery or other highly priced items.

Someone posted on this forum had made a database and it yielded 53% profit

last time I made 18 diamonds in one day with the use of shovels.

Yes. It seems viable on each time frame, too. even at just a day at a time (which is what I do).

And it creates a ton of ore which you can process into bars, or just sell once your barn is full.

I never actually considered using tom for profit. (As in to gain diamonds) I normally use him for 3 things, jams (because they take so long to make) jewellery (if I need coin) or any items that require a multitude of ingredients. I.e cakes or ice creams as it needs sugar and creams so if you get 9 that's the equivalent to 9sugars and 9 creams etc. Never have I used him to get a single ingredient I.e cheese or sugar etc.
