New Defensive Structure Idea: THE FROST SPIRE

The Frost Spire

Troops coming in hot? Cool them down with the Frosts Spire! This dastardly trap works similarly to the Hidden Tesla but will slow down enemy troops, giving defenses more time to take them out.

The Frost Spire is a Defensive structure that works similarly to the Hidden Tesla. It will be hidden from sight until an enemy troop comes within a 6-tile range, upon which the Frost Spire will rise up and release a cryogenic blast similar to the freeze spell.
When the Frost Spire is activated, the ground within a 5-tile radius will turn a bluish-white, and Any and All troops within that 5-tile radius will be slowed and slightly damaged until the Frost Spire is destroyed.

Now what would be the purpose of having this Frost Spire?

Hog still giving you trouble? Slow them down with the Frost Spire, giving your Inferno Towers and other defenses more time to take them down.

Goblins making a run for your money? Stop them in their tracks by placing this near collectors or Storages.

Hordes of Barbarians and Archers running amuck? Take them down with the Frost Spires large area effect.

Hope you guys like the idea, please give me feedback/suggestions.

I made a thread similar to this- slowing troops down. You can find a link to it in my sig, it's the 'ENTRAPMENT TOWER'.

I like the idea, but just pointing out that it's been posted a few times over.

Nice take on it, though.

The stats are good.

May I suggest that as troops get closer, the slow effect increase exponentially, so they become more slowed down as they move closer to the tower?

Interesting Idea, I think it would fit, i just wonder how much would it matter? Considering if the troops are going towards the tower they only have to move 5 tiles from the time that they are within range to the point that they are at the tower.

Seems pretty balanced. Very unique and different from the existing towers.:)

Thanks! I tried to give it enough power to make a difference against troops like Hogs as far as speed, but still have it's weaknesses (mainly that it cant attack air troops) I may lower DPS but at the moment I think it's decent.

I would rather have Inferno Tower negates the slow effect. Because Inferno tower has the flame theme, and this new defence has an ice theme. And fire melts ice

I can understand that, however that would make this defense a lot weaker considering it's purpose is to help other defenses. No other defense Negates the effects of another defensive structure so while yes Fire melts Ice we don't need to over complicate this idea.
