How to make sure I don't fill your boat crate

Maybe it's just me, or maybe it's because I have been stuck in the house too long because of our lousy weather, but I saw something today that blew me away.

I saw a farm with three crates flagged all asking for premium items. In other words, not crops or quickly made items. But the farmer had changed the name of their farm to indicate, I'd better not buy too much from his shop. ( I am being vague on purpose because I am not about to name this person and because I have seen several farmers doing the same type of thing).

Does this strike anyone else as extremely arrogant? You don't want me to buy what I want (even your wheat or eggs) at the max price YOU have set, but you want me to give you my valuable goods at less than max market price and you'd be please if I filled them all. One farm even went as far as to tell me how many items I could buy max, but they still flagged all three boat crates.

Remarkable! Guess what. I didn't fill a single one! And I had all of it in large quantities.

I'm off to find some other boat to help.

I don't have any neighbors like that but if I did, I would've unfriended them a long time ago and wouldn't think twice about it. Too much hassle to deal with....not worth the headache.

IMHO its arrogance on their behalf!

I'm not going to worry about all the etiquette anymore. If neighbours need help with boats, and i have the goods, i will fill.

if people have goods in their RSS's then I shall buy.

If there is stuff in my RSS - fill your boots! (Please, am still wheating, and wheating, and wheating and still trying to get to the magic 1000 storage about 8 months to go i reckon).

If I ask for help either with boat or reviving plants, and you help me, then thank you!

I dont think i'm a bad neighbour, but hate all this not treading on toes (metaphorically) and i wont be spending my time worrying anymore.

I would constantly fill my RSS with premium items, jams, juices, cakes, etc and without fail, one person would come along and clean me out!!! They would leave nothing for any of my other neighbors! A lot of my neighbors help me and I would like to repay by selling high-end items. If you don't like it, unfriend me!

You would like to repay them? Then pm/msg them directly and arrange to have them take those items. By filling your shop and hoping that only a certain group of people can buy them is not very realistic because most of the time the opposite will happen instead.

perhaps i am still to new to this, but anything in the shop is for sale :P, want it? buy it. dont want it, feel free not to purchase.
if you want certain folks to buy special items from you, contact by any messenger available and set up a trade :)

as for boats with *all special marked for help*, i do agree on that.
while i am aware of most of my neighbours level and sometimes lack of production buildings, if they go all out on something i know they should be able to do themselves i skip the boat.
on the other hand one of my neighbours in particular lacks the fishing boat and juicer. i am often found in those buildings just to help those orders for her =P

I guess I can understand why someone puts it up, but there was awhile that one of my neighbours put really lovely items that I always seemed short on up and I used to buy loads of them. So I made a real point of helping them fill all sorts of difficult crates, including 3 crates of the same high end item which left me short.

I've taken the view that as long as it's not the same person who takes everything each and every single time then it doesn't bother me. If they strip me bare constantly without ever helping then I'll just defriend them! I have a lot of neighbours so it would take quite a bit of doing to always strip me bare before someone else gets in! I tend to flag a tree or a bush for watering to attract a helpful neighbour when I put good stuff up for sale anyway.

I admit, it is a bit arrogant. I try to be careful to not to flag the most valuable items on the boat for my neighbours. If I do not want to cast off, for example, a sugar or a dairy boat I will myself fill those crates, and not flag them. And regarding the RSS, I understand some people don't like raiding, but as the items have been put there to be sold, so what can he do... They are for sale. I don't mind my RSS being raided, but I try not to raid other's RSS.

But its impossible for you to set a max. You cannot control the buying of your products once they are in your shop.

My neighbors will tell you that I fill crates even if it takes my last cherry jam and it usually does. They will also tell you that I will come back hours later and fill that last crate after I've either made the item or bought it for them. I already have the boat achievements and could care less about leveling up on any of my family farms. If I'm good enough to work for you, I should be good enough to buy from you. And I'm not talking about farms found in the dirt, I am talking about my neighbors. All those premium items you are saving for your neighbors should also include me. (And no dolphin, I wasn't talking about you, you self reported on yourself).

Why the heck anyone should care who buys what, baffles me, unless as someone mentioned, it was an arranged trade and we all know the risks there. But ok if that's the way you want to play, that's fine, but don't be surprised if it takes a lot longer to get those boats filled.

You are a very good neighbor indeed and you are more then welcome to raid my shop anytime you like!

I am most likely to fill a difficult crate (jam, fish, sugars, dairy products) for farms in the DD if there is or was a nice item for sale in the RSS, especially if I have bought it because then I feel I owe them. If all there is is mundane stuff at top price, and it would be tough for me to fill the crate, I pass. I am more likely to fill these crates if the player has filled one of them than I am if they ask for help with all crates of that type, unless I see they don't have the necessary machine yet, or I see the machine that makes the item working. I am less likely to fill these crates if all other crates on the boat are un filled, and even less likely if departure time is close. I am more likely to fill the crate of a low level player.

For neighbors, most active and most helpful take precedence, but I do all I can.

These aren't policies I have come up with, just the inclinations I find myself having in response to conditions in the game.

It only bothers me when people constantly flag three of the sugar/dairy (when there is only three crates) in four hours time you could surely fill one of those by yourself, you have enough time to make what you need.

I know how you feel. I had my RSS full of premium things for the last event and had a person bought almost everything. Their farm was named No Raiding, humm :confused:. For the days between the events I restock my barn, try and help all my neighbor boats and hope I can get something good from their RSS. I try not to raid RSS but I am still trying to up grade my barn.

Not necessarily. If your machines are expanded to all slots, it's possible that the queue is full of stuff that won't be done in 4 hours. That happens to me a lot. I should know better, but sometimes the barn is full, and moving stuff from the barn to the production queue is irresistible. Even if it leaves me with 9 cheeses waiting, when the boat wants cream.

Also keep in mind that sugar/dairy is not really a problem for lower to mid-level players. Until I got the ice cream and coffee machines, I had tons of extra sugar and dairy, and filling people's crates was no problem at all. I loved getting boats that wanted cheese or sugar, because they were so easy to fill. And for players who just recently opened their docks...there isn't much else the boats can ask for, besides basic crops.

I will fill a crate if I have the goods to fill it with (yes, often leaving myself short too)

What I find strange is that many folk requesting boat help frequently have an EMPTY RSS!

I just think its common courtesy to have something - anything - in your RSS to offer those who come to GIVE you their goods (bought or made) as a token of thanks.

They do pay for them after all, so its a win-win for the person seeking help for their boats!

But at least have 'something' to offer your HELPERS!

Im sick of filling crates and then checking out the RSS as I leave, only to find it empty yet again.

Tigg, unfortunately generosity isn't always rewarded...not a nice feeling all the same.

You have a stack of decent mates who do the right thing Im sure...and many more standing in line wanting to be on your list.
So why not just trash those who are taking advantage?
No-one is irreplaceable (ok, some of us are ;)).
Don't sweat it friend! Just do it!

I try to help as many people as I can and will fill boats if I have the items, but I have to say, I've been having a hard time keeping stuff in my RSS, lol. I can only play a couple of times a day on weekdays (before/after work, more on weekends) I try to make stuff specifically to sell, but they get snapped up pretty quickly these days.

because I list things for sale at different times to doing my boat?! Also, I wait to see what my NEXT boat wants before I sell stuff. But then I usually flag 1 of each crate and I rarely need to wait more than a few minutes so clearly my friends aren't all that bothered by it. And as I said, if I have particularly nice things I flag a tree for watering. I'm not thanking them, I'm just giving my friends first dibs on them, and freeing up space in on over full barn! (I'm beyond the point of caring about coin now, anyway!)

Oh I doubt, there's a lack of manners evident on your farm. The fact that you "rarely need to wait more than a few minutes" shows that your neighbors appreciate your efforts. I have notice the pattern of playing you describe. I have a few neighbors who regularly sell the same items and I go there when I need those items. They almost always have great things in their shop, but not always while the boat is in dock. It makes sence that they are waiting to see what the next boat wants. And again almost always when I stop back, the shop is full again. I think what Donna means is that there is never anything available and when she checks after filling a boat, she is reminded that they rarely have anything. My shop has some bare times and then others it is bursting at the seams and she likes being my neighbor (and Donna you are not replaceable either)

I've even seen farm names asking me to please NOT revive the trees. Not sure what's going on there, except possibly they are helping someone get the Green thumb. But at any rate, the request is so politely asked that I comply. Just don't DEMAND that I don't purchase items placed for sale and then ask for help. It just doesn't set well with me.

With good stuff (I think), I have neighbors from all different time zones so I try to spread stuff around in a 24 hour period. Should I sell more? I get wiped out within minutes, just hope my friends know I try to put stuff out :(

Interesting point of view my good neighbour & friend on the empty RSS.

Before I joined this forum ( the days when I relied more on my followers) I would always fill my RSS and advertise in the DD , when I needed help on filling some boat orders. ( basically needing outside help )
Nearly 12 months on and 21 levels higher I play totally differently .

I now have a lot more friends & don't have to rely on my followers as much. Also since the introduction of the help tab , I personally think this has an impact on the speed of the help we receive. I usually keep my tab open while I'm farming & when a friend pops up for help I'm straight there. Theses days I get more enjoyment out of helping my neighbours than filling my boats.

Also I don't always fill my RSS when I've a boat in, why ? I don't really know . Usually I'm off searching for the stuff I haven't got in stock to fill my crates.

You've now gave me a complex :p And from now on I will always have that 1 cornbread sat in my RSS just for you Hun :p

I used to wonder why someone couldn't at least attempt to fill one of those crates after 14-15 hours time. But someone pointed out a possible scenario. Consider for a bit the possibility that someone not only works but also goes to school or works a longer day than most. While most of us fill and send off the boats quite quickly, some take the full time allowed. They could open the boat first thing in the morning, fill some, and flag some and even que up the machines. I do know that the state of the farms machines doesn't mean they aren't running. What we see when a farm is not open on the players device, is the last saved state on the server. When they open the farm, the crops will have grown and the machines finished, but until that point, what we see often shows little progress.

So it is very possible that when they do open everything up, they finish the boat and off it goes all while I am snug in bed convinced they aren't even interested in doing anything to help themselves. I observed this while I was working with the captains thread. We'd have a candidate tell us their next boats needs and everytime I looked at their farm for the next three or four days, the crops had just been planted and the machines looked idle. Then finally the weekend came and they had filled the boat with no help from us, opened the next one, filled it also with no help and reported on the fourth one. It was nerve racking for this trainee, but the other girls knew what was up I tell you.

Just don't leave that blasted sold sign out for weeks at a time. I swear I am not impressed that you sold ten bolts last week. And yes I have an eidetic memory so unless you are perfect in putting the same thing in the same slot and I ALWAYS miss EVERYTHING, I am going to assume you are either bragging or need no money and don't ever sell anything. I get depressed thinking that I must always miss every Piece of BEM someone puts out. It's not so bad the first four or five times I come by, but after that it's annoying. And since I can't change anyone's behavior but my own, I am more likely to unfriend someone who can't help me than be impressed by some past selling activity.

A couple of days ago, I saw the same thing. No idea if it was the same person or not, but I had the same reaction that you did. Ironically, in addition to the notice not to buy too much, this was someone who has posted on this forum in the past urging others to observe a variety of rules about which boat crates to open, i.e., not to only ask for premium items.

Mind you, I am not "mad" at this person, this was more of a "roll your eyes" (with exasperated sigh) sort of reaction.

im only lvl 31 atm, but my rss usually has eggs 10e, milk 25e, bacon 45e and whatever produce i made that my boat didnt require (i stock up on longterms like cheesecake etc and when i hit full barn i down everything to like 4 left).
that usually means like pancakes, cookies, muffins and various higher crops (indigo+) in my shop.

any good or not even worth looking at from your perspective :P?
as for the crates i sign for help: often 1 of the highest/premium, but due to me looking at the *boat inc in 4 hrs needing x,y,z i normally have all stocked by either making myself or buying in advance. also i ship off the boat when i wake up (often filling it entirely before heading to bed :P) so i can make plenty of stuff overnight and then even use my worktime to add whatever the boat will ask. all and all i am normally perfectly capable of solo-ing the entire boat but i ask for 1 or so crate of premium so my barn doesnt take a nosedive and hinders other production. selfish or normal?

I kinda do the same thing. I don't like it when my shop is "raided" by one person, but it happens. I let it slide once, twice, sometimes more if this happens far apart, but when I see the same person coming back, and basically staking out my shop to buy out everything I put up, without ever selling anything decent themselves (I visit my neighbors' shops a lot), and never helping with my boat, then I simply unfriend them. I'm not your personal supplier.

When I find a shop that has a lot of premium items, even if I could use them all or most to refill my supplies, I will only take one or two items of which I have the least. Personally, I don't think it's too much to ask the same of others.

And I fill my neighbors' boats as much as I can. I'm very appreciative when someone helps me, and I try to help back whenever I can.

Perfectly normal. I ask for help on things I can't fill. Pure and simple. Sometimes I flag the crates and tell my kid to come fill them or I'll open my other iPad and before either of us can get to them, someone fills them. Sometimes I do them all , especially if it is the boat on one of my families lower level farms. Sometimes I flag one of each so others can get the boat points or XP. It depends.

Also as to what you sell, sell what you have too much of or don't need right away. My last boats on two different farms both asked for bread. Simple bread that takes less than four minutes for me, but I still needed extra. The one before that asked for bacon and eggs and I had to buy some because the one before wanted fish and chips and my machine was still cued with those. So just because everyone on here moans and groans about eggs and bacon and eggs, ignore them. Many people need those items, so you keep selling them and I sell produce all the time and I can't keep my shop filled. Plus my daughter tells me she can't seem to keep enough cookies on hand. She'd love your cookies. She keeps making cheesecake so I know where to get it when I need it.

I can only echo a lot of what has already been said here. I spend more time buying stuff in the DD lately so I'm ready to fill my neighbours' crates than filling my own shop. I do try to keep it full but stuff doesn't last long so I apologise if it appears empty all the time. I abhor the parked 10 bolts sold scenario too but I notice this sort of thing quite a lot and have now given up stressing that I never get there in time to get the items myself when they were probably sold hours ago. My shop only has sold signs on stuff if I'm busy farming and haven't got back to clear the sold items.

As with some other farmers, I'm getting to be choosy about who I help - always checking the ones who help me first and then remembering those who have slid off the tab but have also helped before, then attacking the list and trying to help everyone on it. I'll give my last stock to help someone get a boat away but never help with sugars, dairy, fish or lobsters. I don't even fill my own as I choose to cast those off. When it comes to jams or other premium items, if I can't fill at least one crate myself, I cast the boat off.

Finally, to anyone who changes their farm name to give instructions to customers who visit their farm, I say don't be so arrogant as to impose your way of playing on others. I don't know how many people play the game globally but I'd like to bet only a very tiny percentage are on this forum and even then they may not know or care about the 'etiquette' of shopping, filling crates, watering trees, etc. For the vast majority of those who farm/play, these instructions/commands will mean little and they will do as they please, raiding, watering, helping (or not) as they see fit. In a nutshell... If you don't want any random passer by or undesirable neighbours to buy your premium items, don't put them up for grabs!!

To all my neighbours who are gracious enough to help my trees, bushes, boats and buy from my shop, I thank you for your assistance and custom. I only hope I don't annoy you by filling too many crates or watering all your trees.

Oh yeah, and for those who don't like my comments and are my neighbours... if you choose to unfriend me that's your prerogative, dears. Don't forget your brolly, it's raining outside! ;)

I haven't had what some call a stalker in some time. I play too erratically for anyone to be able to wait for me to put stuff up. They would get bored. And I understand the creepy factor of someone always watching you and I wouldn't like it either. But if I see a shop filled with ten things and I need them all I find it hard not to buy it all and I don't like being told to pick just four or five out of a shop of a hundred. When my shop is sold out, I use all five fingers to collect my money because that is why I sold it in the first place. I am not about to create a spread sheet of who bought what and when, like some do. Good grief! But I also don't just mindlessly grab everything in sight. How stupid is that. If one shop fills up my barn, you know the next one will be selling BEM and SEM and cream and sugar and I'll be out of luck won't I?.

BUT I wheat a lot too and while I try to avoid selling the wheat and save it for the little serial killers, sometimes I get that silo full warning and you'll see a lot of carrots, soybeans and tomatoes in my shop. It is times like those when I want someone to come and take it all. And if they turn around and sell it for a profit, good for them. I have the average number of stalls 17/18 and if someone paid diamonds for all those extra slots and wants to fill them with my produce, then good for them and good for me. I'd hate for any of you to think twice about buying up my crops because of some goofy rule the spread sheet folks made up. As a matter of fact, I regularly have a fire sale and message a few folks and tell them to come get it all. If they don't grab all the veggies, the fruit won't get sold and then the cakes won't have room, so sometimes it's grant fun to raid away.

We'll if I don't get back to the farm, you all will think I never sell anything now won't you. :-)

In a nutshell... If you don't want any random passer by or undesirable neighbours to buy your premium items, don't put them up for grabs!!

To all my neighbours who are gracious enough to help my trees, bushes, boats and buy from my shop, I thank you for your assistance and custom. I only hope I don't annoy you by filling too many crates or watering all your trees.

Oh yeah, and for those who don't like my comments and are my neighbours... if you choose to unfriend me that's your prerogative, dears. Don't forget your brolly, it's raining outside! ;)

I can understand someone getting upset if an unknown person on a helpers tab keeps coming coming back and continually taking items they have put in there for their friends but there has been some very helpful tips and good advice on how to deal with those kind of players...but...

Please don't upset other genuine helpful players by dictating how many items they should take. Only have friends who accept your gameplay and then there will be no need to put up silly demands on your RSS!

I'm not even going to get into the RSS issue. Tiggerr you know my feelings well enough on that.

I would like to address the boat crates. As a rule I open one of each whether I can fill it or not. I consider it good manners to share XP with my neighbors as they do with me. This week I had to open 2 crates of one item and felt a little guilty. LOL Also this week I haven't been able to help some of my neighbors because they wanted brown sugar. 2 had all crates flagged for sugar just today. I had to ignore them although I did purchase something from them (not premium) so they would know I stopped by. That's my ettiquitte, good manners or whatever you want to call it.

i don't have many friends. I sell most of my good stuff in my RSS. I only advertise I'd I am wheating or my barn is overflowing. What this means is that I can put jewellery, jams and other nice things in my RSS and it can sit there for hours. I don't care if a neighbour comes and clears me out, especially if they have just helped my boat. In fact I quite often make sure I stock up my RSS before asking for help so the helper finds some good stuff.

so yes, the current shop name is my way of apologising to my neighbours for all the wheat, bacon, eggs, bacon and eggs, etc i am selling right now. I tested the waters last night and put one nice thing in each box, a couple of my neighbours got a few things (misterTEZ, you were one of them - the shop name is to apologise to neighbours, not warn them off!) and then bang, there she was again. How long can I possibly stay in her recent helpers list?? So I am sorry neighbours, but the good stuff will be back!

the one upside to all this.... My barn was overflowing so badly last night that on a whim I decided to try TT3. Completed in 16 minutes with no help :D

As for boats, I open whatever crates I can't fill for neighbours. Often this is cheaper/more common stuff anyways because I don't keep much of those items on hand.

Great job on TT3

I have heard that corn bread is the best way to repel a stalker. Bacon or eggs can be quite valuable since they are used in other things but cornbread is an end product that doesn't make much of a profit. You can then concentrate on wheating (with corn and wheat), making feed for your chickens and making more cornbread. You will be able to expand your barn at the same time.

In the meantime, make some friends from the forum who play the way you do. Then when you can't stand it any longer send your new friends a PM and tell them you are having a sale. Pick a time when you haven't seen your stalker for a while. Then sell as much as you want knowing that your creep will have to compete with your friends. Trust me it is a lot of fun. You can sell at full price especially if you have some higher level friends who don't have a money problem and they get permission to buy as much as they want. Clean out your silo, then your barn ending with the best stuff and you should make a pretty penny. Your new friends will have fun and most likely turn around and sell to their friends and everyone is a winner.

After a while your creep will find someone else to annoy when they see your shop empty because you have other friends now.

I don't know about the rest of you but please don't feel you only have to flag cheaper or common stuff on your boat. When my barn is full, I hate to sell the jams and sugars, but for some reason I have no problem filling a boat with those things. That's why I make them.

I buy what I want when I find it. If it upsets the seller, tough. The game has rules and attempts to impose guidelines beyond those is a waste of everyone's time. If you don't want me to buy it, don't put it in your stand! I am sure I have been unfriended because of it, but who cares. There are Millions of Hay Day players out there. The few on here who insist the world bend to their view of the Hay Day world don't make up enough of a percentage of the total to even be noticed. My recommendation? Play the game the way you want and don't worry about it!

when I say 'not many friends' - I probably have about 30-40 from the forums. It amazes me when I put good stuff up and it sits there for hours. I can only assume my friends all have a lot of friends and don't visit often. But yes, they are welcome to take whatever they like when they do :)

your idea does sound fun - I was actually going to post a message here asking friends (or potential new friends) to contact me if they want anything in particular, as I have a bunch of just about everything right now and find myself filling truck orders just to get rid of it. I might pick a time and tell everyone when I will be selling stuff instead :)

I'm starting to suspect this person is purposely not getting any help with her farm just to keep me on her list... It's been at least two weeks now :/

Oh I don't feel obligated! Like I said, I ask for whatever I need. Often it is the more common stuff, but if I need jam or ice cream or whatever, that's what I flag :)

Everytime I get annoyed and start a thread, I get several new friends requests from people who like my bizarre way of thinking. I am flattered, but, as you can see from my signature, I have a new farm on my new ipad which is the one I play most. It is sooooooo much faster. Additionally my forum user name while it is the same as my old farm, is dangerously close to hitting the limit of Game Center requests. I'd hate to have to turn someone down when I get there. So feel free to use tiggerr129 but my new one will get more attention and it is Tiggerr Two. My plan is to stop playing the 129 one and try to convince my son to take it over. So far he is not interested.

It's really nice to know that there are many nice people on this game and I'm also thankful for my neighbors who are always there to help. I try to help their crates if I have the goods and often, I don't have enough for myself either. What annoys me most is when people ask not to buy stuff from their RSS. Er hello? If you don't want to sell it, then you may as well just keep them in your inventory. Which person puts stuff in their RSS and expect no one to buy it? Whether I buy one or buy most of it, deal with it. It's called RSS for a reason. When people buy multiple items from RSS, obviously 1) they need it or 2) it's scarce items. And moreover, I don't see what's wrong with a high level player helping out the needy (regardless of level)

It is totally arrogant for someone to tell you that only neighbors are aloud to shop, or only take 4 maximum, don't hoard, hoarding=delete. The one thing I like about this game is there are no rules when it comes to the DD or RSS. I help a lot of boats every day, and like tigg, I will use my last fish and chips to help fill a crate. I enjoy helping my neighbors. I too wonder why anyone would care who buys what? I don't care! I buy what I want, I don't do a clean out unless it's tape! God I love tape! And can't find a one! Please release the tape! Tigg I like being your neighbor, and miss you when you are not around on the forum. Raid and shop me anytime.

Well said, I do the same with crates. I play with the help bar open and always try to help, usually by the time I get to your farms Tiggerr they are done:rolleyes: Sorry I could not help with the bread this morning.
I too fill my stand usually 3 times a day or whenever I do a boat and everyone can help themselves - if it is for sale please buy:)
I am aware that the time difference can make it awkward and I miss seeing a lot of some players.

But please...keep this one factor in context with my complete comment. I was making a point about certain farms who consistently have a "care" score close to zero...( including any interest in their own farms and their 'helpers', F & N)

I admit that very recently I have been guilty of asking my F&N to 'save' an item...(stockfeed), if it was accidentally missed by a particular F&N who I was helping.

They were only able to stock/sell this one product due to an over-zealous "boat event" visitor, who forced this friend to close their RSS.

In such extreme circumstances, I didn't think it too unreasonable to ask my other F&N to leave any feed that was forgotten, awaiting collection, or in the midst if being collected? This was a one-off situation, which is for them, thankfully over!

Now perhaps my request seemed unreasonable to some...however, I was merely trying to help out another...in an awful situation.

I guess its all perspective then?

Lastly, folk often use trees as stated, to flag the attention of particular F&N's. They then get added as 'the most recent' helper on the LH list (instead of dropping off altogether), thus allowing for faster access to them, instead of scrolling thru umpteen avatars on your different lists for somebody you have regular contact with.

I'm afraid that I am guilty of changing my farm name, but in my defence it wasn't out of arrogance but frustration. I was trying to give a message to two people who we're wiping me out every time I filled my shop. The problem is now solved now that I have unfriend them. Why I didn't think of that earlier goodness knows. I also know that if it's in my shop it's up for sale but I do like to sell to a few people instead of just a couple. It's just the way I like to play the game. And while I'm talking about playing the game; I also get annoyed when high level players buy all the deeds etc I put in the shop, hopefully to help the lower levels. Maybe they have lower level friends of their own they want to help! Again this is now solved with a pm and a fairy godchild. Sorry to rant and sorry to offend.

In all honesty I have so many friends and followers now that I don't have a chance to go through the RSSs all that often. Hmm, perhaps I need to do a clear out if inactive players. But unlike you Tigerr, I have a ♥♥♥♥ memory - can't even remember who I last bought things from unless they are a regular supplier. If I go past 3 times I'm likely to clear out their shop unintentionally anyway!

It is an interesting topic, with many varied views...but it seems that the majority agree on one thing...we're all happy to help fill boat crates.
As for the debatable sugar and dairy crates...can be a tough call when 1/2 your F&N do, and 1/2 don't fill these boats.
Im learning that you just cant please everybody all the time. Thank goodness for that too!

I too agree the LH tab has its benefits...I keep mine open (as often as I can remember too), and also find it has brought extra speed to the helping side of things...
But, I do get a tad miffed when Im interrupted from a farming chore to help someone, and arrive at their farm only to find the helping is done! So back I trudge...get home start a chore, and then ding, ding, ding...the help alert again! So off I go...only to find... You get the picture!?! Reckon Ive lost about 40 (cyber) kilos from all the two-ing and fro-ing in my gumboots! LOL

I just wanted to add, I LOVE my neighbors who fill up their shops with wheat! I so often don't pay attention to my crops and run out of wheat especially very regularly. I like knowing who my neighbors are who sell wheat and I go to them to resupply. So a big thank you to those neighbors!

Everyone's going to play the game the way they want. For me, I prefer that my items go to someone who needs them for their next boat order for example, than to someone who just buys out 10 plus items just because they're a little harder to make. My only way of controlling that is to ocasionally change my farm name to "No raiding!", and at the most drastic unfriending if someone keeps coming back to clear me out. Luckily I haven't had to do anything of the sort in a while!

It's very interesting to see different people's behaviours in this game. Regardless of how the game lets you play, and the fact that it's a game, I will admit that when one person nabs all the stuff in my shop I find it slightly irritating. I have no idea why this is - it's not rational.

Equally, I wouldn't ever change my shop name to dictate what I would like people to buy or not buy. Why? Because my incredibly English nature means that I mutter in my shoes about rude behaviour but I'm too polite to say anything, and I have to be VERY sleep deprived to confront anyone's rude behaviour.

As for crates, I flag them if I can't fill them (or want to be faster) and I think it's a small enough amount of something reasonable that a neighbour will be able to comfortably fill. It annoys me when people perpetually flag 3 crates of 8 creams, but hey, it's their problem if nobody fills it and I have no real reason to be annoyed by that either - it's just an automatic reaction.

I think we need to remember that we're still people on the end of each Gamecenter ID, we're not machines and we're going to annoy each other sometimes.

i could not have said it any better. I especially like to fill fish orders for those who do not have their boat repair completed and have no way to get fish on their own. Way back when, I delayed my boat repair a level or two due to lack of coin. A few people were always there to fill the fish sandwich crates for me back then. They are still among my most cherished of my many friends and without a second thought, I always rush to help them whenever the opportunity presents itself.

Before I discovered trading, I had a neighbor who constantly monitored my farm to snatch up every one of the numerous expansion materials I would put up. Rarely was anyone else ever able to beat him to the purchase. It frustrated me, but that is part of the game. Eventually, he did back off and although still a friend, I rarely see him purchase from me any more.

Are you sure she found you via the last helper tab? She could be tracking you via the boat score board.

Someone said in another thread that she got rid of a stalker by changing her GC name.

Possibly - I just tested the waters by putting a tree up for watering and putting nice stuff in my RSS. She was there within ten minutes :( and she didn't even heal my tree! :eek:

I didn't know the boat score thing was a way she could be following me. We are on similar levels, so that might be plausible? In that case, is there anything I can do to get rid of her??

PS - if any of my neighbours read this, please be rushing to take the last of my nice stuff before she comes back :D

A pretty interesting read this, it's nice to learn about people's different approaches to the game and that it allows us that freedom.

I generally play by the rule that I'll help wherever I can and if I'm able. I'll tend to take things from the RSS if I've helped out with a ferryboat although not if I don't actually need it - I'm struggling with barn and silo capacity at the mo so storage is an issue!

I have quite a few neighbours who have never helped me and I've helped them plenty of times, I guess that's just the way it is and there could be a number of reasons. I mostly believe it's because I've been helped by someone else before they had a chance. Put a positive spin on it! :D

Greedy farmers are annoying but generally they seem to be few and far between!

edit: Since writing this post my RSS is being stalked by someone I can only assume I helped since they're not a follower or neighbour. Cue lots of :rolleyes: from me

Did you check to see if she was following you? She could be getting access to your farm that way.

Stalking via the boat score wouldn't be easy, just filling one crate would likely take you away from their level.

you can get to the top contributors' farms on the last global event, you can find someone on DD and then follow them (but can be booted off now), or you can find them from the last helper tab. If they are finding you and they are not a friend or a follower then you must have helped them (really check, because if they have a blank avatar they will be hard to spot!). At some point, unless this is a feeder farm with little activity, you will fall off their helper tab, it just takes time.

Ahh me too! When I think about it, I really have no problem with raiding. I'll admit that I've done it a few times myself. On principle, I have no problem with it whether its happening to me or if I'm doing it. BUT lately I've had a couple of stalkers and that really irritates me. I don't mind if you buy anything in my shop but if you're sitting there waiting for me to put it up and you're buying it faster than I can put the next item up, I'm going to be annoyed. Its a fine line and it only bothers me for a second until I remember, I put that up for sale so someone would by it - and someone did, so I should be happy!

I did have someone steal a few screws during a trade the other day. I didn't have any ads up and we were trading quite a few items. It was the second to last sale for our trade and everything was going quick and smooth and all of a sudden I see a different name pop up! I felt sooo bad, I've never had it happen before. It happened to be a follower that raided quite often and I hadn't deleted them because it wasn't a problem - they did get deleted immediately after they took the screws though.

I think the people that change their names should find neighbors that agree with their playing style and shouldn't advertise. Demands don't sit well with anyone, we all want to be respected.

As for flagging boats - I repaired my dock quite a few levels after I unlocked it. I really struggled with coins for a while, I'm only just now getting comfortable and saving for the next machine. (Candy!) When I started getting boats, I had a bunch asking for fish products and I hadn't unlocked the fishing area yet so I would always flag the 3 fish(product) crates. Now that I've gotten Captain III I will cast off boats that aren't feasible but I will still flag 3 of the same crates sometimes. I always have my queues jam packed so I often can't prepare with only 4 hours notice. I am slowly gaining quite a few neighbors since joining the forum but I never expect them to fill my crates. If they do, that's great and thank you very much! But I know if I place an ad on something that will sit in the DD for a while, strangers will help and they're usually pretty fast about it!

I will go short of items I need, often sugar and jams, to help fill crates for neighbors. I usually cast off boats like that but if you need it, I'll fill your crate if I have it! I'm usually too slow at watering trees (its gonna take me forever for that achievement!) but if I see them, I'll water them! I try to be a good neighbor but I don't have any expectations for mine one way or another.

We all have our own playing style and no one's is more right than anyone else's. That's the beauty of this game!

Interesting that she didn't heal your tree. Usually people love doing that, since it doesn't cost them anything and they might get a tractor out of it.

The only reason I can think of for her not helping even to water a tree is that she doesn't want you to be able to raid her farm. If she's on your last helper tab, then you can find her. If she just buys stuff from your stand, you can't.

I don't have a GC account, so I'm not sure how it works, but in another thread on stalkers, someone said she got rid of hers by changing her GC name. Presumably because the stalker could no longer recognize her on the boat board.

But Jaleli seems to have access to her farm already because she said they are on similar levels.

That's true. Hadn't noticed that. You can only know the level of someone if you see their farm or they're a friend. In which you case you delete them either through Facebook or GC. Not sure how you would identify them through Facebook though if you have loads of friends. I've got 100s of friends on my gaming Facebook account. I've never tried to find someone. Does their profile photo match?

Yep, she healed a tree once in the early days when she started the stalking, I had a look then and she was on a similar level.

i fill boats fairly quickly, so I'm guessing that's not how she finds me, I must still be on her last helpers tab. Seems like way too long for that though, especially given that she obviously plays a lot.

An well, nothing I can do I guess except try and wait her out. I might change names and photos if she hasn't gone away in the next couple of days.

Anyone can play how they wish on this game. If that annoys someone else, so be it...that's why we have the abilities to unfriend neighbors and delete followers.

Folks have the right to make demands on their signs and create their own game/trade rules, but they do not have the power to control others and enforce those demands/rules beyond using the delete options.

Folks have the right to either respect or ignore any demands or rules set about by others or to delete them if the demands/rules are intimidating, oppressive, annoying, or just rub you the wrong way.

Folks also have the right NOT to be intimidated, harassed, or feel taken advantage of. So, if you feel intimidated by someone trying to restrict your style and demanding you play THEIR way, delete them. If you feel harassed by someone buying out your RSS all the time and are uncomfortable and feeling stalked, delete them ( if they are a friend or follower). If you feel someone took a trade, not in innocent ignorance or error, but on purpose, delete them. If you feel someone is buying too much, delete them. If you feel someone is taking advantage of you by taking, taking, taking but rarely or never giving as far as you can tell, delete them.

There is an old saying that no one can take advantage of us unless we allow them to. Sadly, there are some instances with unwelcome guests where there is no control over the discomfort, but when you have that control, use it.

Respect is a two way street. You cannot demand others respect your play style while refusing to respect theirs. Do what you will, but expect others to do as they will whether you like it or not.

Some had a chance to get things off their chest, others a chance to see they are not alone in their thoughts, different views and perspectives were experienced, and a opportunity for yet others to learn that it's ok to stand up for themselves and not be forced.

However, this thread has pretty much run it's course on a topic that will forever be in debate, which I find strange as a debate usually involves something that has two sides only, whereas this topic has multiple sides. That weirdness aside, I'm afraid I need to close this.
