How to make sure I don't fill your boat crate

I just wanted to add, I LOVE my neighbors who fill up their shops with wheat! I so often don't pay attention to my crops and run out of wheat especially very regularly. I like knowing who my neighbors are who sell wheat and I go to them to resupply. So a big thank you to those neighbors!

Everyone's going to play the game the way they want. For me, I prefer that my items go to someone who needs them for their next boat order for example, than to someone who just buys out 10 plus items just because they're a little harder to make. My only way of controlling that is to ocasionally change my farm name to "No raiding!", and at the most drastic unfriending if someone keeps coming back to clear me out. Luckily I haven't had to do anything of the sort in a while!

It's very interesting to see different people's behaviours in this game. Regardless of how the game lets you play, and the fact that it's a game, I will admit that when one person nabs all the stuff in my shop I find it slightly irritating. I have no idea why this is - it's not rational.

Equally, I wouldn't ever change my shop name to dictate what I would like people to buy or not buy. Why? Because my incredibly English nature means that I mutter in my shoes about rude behaviour but I'm too polite to say anything, and I have to be VERY sleep deprived to confront anyone's rude behaviour.

As for crates, I flag them if I can't fill them (or want to be faster) and I think it's a small enough amount of something reasonable that a neighbour will be able to comfortably fill. It annoys me when people perpetually flag 3 crates of 8 creams, but hey, it's their problem if nobody fills it and I have no real reason to be annoyed by that either - it's just an automatic reaction.

I think we need to remember that we're still people on the end of each Gamecenter ID, we're not machines and we're going to annoy each other sometimes.

i could not have said it any better. I especially like to fill fish orders for those who do not have their boat repair completed and have no way to get fish on their own. Way back when, I delayed my boat repair a level or two due to lack of coin. A few people were always there to fill the fish sandwich crates for me back then. They are still among my most cherished of my many friends and without a second thought, I always rush to help them whenever the opportunity presents itself.

Before I discovered trading, I had a neighbor who constantly monitored my farm to snatch up every one of the numerous expansion materials I would put up. Rarely was anyone else ever able to beat him to the purchase. It frustrated me, but that is part of the game. Eventually, he did back off and although still a friend, I rarely see him purchase from me any more.

Are you sure she found you via the last helper tab? She could be tracking you via the boat score board.

Someone said in another thread that she got rid of a stalker by changing her GC name.

Possibly - I just tested the waters by putting a tree up for watering and putting nice stuff in my RSS. She was there within ten minutes :( and she didn't even heal my tree! :eek:

I didn't know the boat score thing was a way she could be following me. We are on similar levels, so that might be plausible? In that case, is there anything I can do to get rid of her??

PS - if any of my neighbours read this, please be rushing to take the last of my nice stuff before she comes back :D

A pretty interesting read this, it's nice to learn about people's different approaches to the game and that it allows us that freedom.

I generally play by the rule that I'll help wherever I can and if I'm able. I'll tend to take things from the RSS if I've helped out with a ferryboat although not if I don't actually need it - I'm struggling with barn and silo capacity at the mo so storage is an issue!

I have quite a few neighbours who have never helped me and I've helped them plenty of times, I guess that's just the way it is and there could be a number of reasons. I mostly believe it's because I've been helped by someone else before they had a chance. Put a positive spin on it! :D

Greedy farmers are annoying but generally they seem to be few and far between!

edit: Since writing this post my RSS is being stalked by someone I can only assume I helped since they're not a follower or neighbour. Cue lots of :rolleyes: from me

Did you check to see if she was following you? She could be getting access to your farm that way.

Stalking via the boat score wouldn't be easy, just filling one crate would likely take you away from their level.

you can get to the top contributors' farms on the last global event, you can find someone on DD and then follow them (but can be booted off now), or you can find them from the last helper tab. If they are finding you and they are not a friend or a follower then you must have helped them (really check, because if they have a blank avatar they will be hard to spot!). At some point, unless this is a feeder farm with little activity, you will fall off their helper tab, it just takes time.

Ahh me too! When I think about it, I really have no problem with raiding. I'll admit that I've done it a few times myself. On principle, I have no problem with it whether its happening to me or if I'm doing it. BUT lately I've had a couple of stalkers and that really irritates me. I don't mind if you buy anything in my shop but if you're sitting there waiting for me to put it up and you're buying it faster than I can put the next item up, I'm going to be annoyed. Its a fine line and it only bothers me for a second until I remember, I put that up for sale so someone would by it - and someone did, so I should be happy!

I did have someone steal a few screws during a trade the other day. I didn't have any ads up and we were trading quite a few items. It was the second to last sale for our trade and everything was going quick and smooth and all of a sudden I see a different name pop up! I felt sooo bad, I've never had it happen before. It happened to be a follower that raided quite often and I hadn't deleted them because it wasn't a problem - they did get deleted immediately after they took the screws though.

I think the people that change their names should find neighbors that agree with their playing style and shouldn't advertise. Demands don't sit well with anyone, we all want to be respected.

As for flagging boats - I repaired my dock quite a few levels after I unlocked it. I really struggled with coins for a while, I'm only just now getting comfortable and saving for the next machine. (Candy!) When I started getting boats, I had a bunch asking for fish products and I hadn't unlocked the fishing area yet so I would always flag the 3 fish(product) crates. Now that I've gotten Captain III I will cast off boats that aren't feasible but I will still flag 3 of the same crates sometimes. I always have my queues jam packed so I often can't prepare with only 4 hours notice. I am slowly gaining quite a few neighbors since joining the forum but I never expect them to fill my crates. If they do, that's great and thank you very much! But I know if I place an ad on something that will sit in the DD for a while, strangers will help and they're usually pretty fast about it!

I will go short of items I need, often sugar and jams, to help fill crates for neighbors. I usually cast off boats like that but if you need it, I'll fill your crate if I have it! I'm usually too slow at watering trees (its gonna take me forever for that achievement!) but if I see them, I'll water them! I try to be a good neighbor but I don't have any expectations for mine one way or another.

We all have our own playing style and no one's is more right than anyone else's. That's the beauty of this game!

I'm sorry if any of this is rambling or doesn't make sense, I'm not usually awake at this hour - just wanted to add my 2 cents!
