I think it would be cool to add a new building called the Converter. This building would be used to convert Gold to Elixir or Elixir to Gold at an equal or fixed ratio depending on worth decided among the developers. This could be very helpful because usually I save up one resource at a time for a certain upgrade and end up with a lot of the other ironically; dunno if this ever happens to anyone else, but I do think it would be quite a nice introduction to the game.

Your idea of 'converting' resources is very creative, but unfortunately it can easily be abused, and it's been ruled out by Supercell, probably for one of the following reasons:
1.Players would convert resources instead of buying gems.
2.Supercell would lose profits due to a fall in gem sales.
