This defense has worked great for me up to about 2550, then started getting hogged at 55% 1 stars, I still count that as hog proof(anything below 2 stars basically)

I'm not harping on your base or your defense mate, but 30 defensive wins is not really that spectacular! As a TH9 myself I just had 64 this past season (and already have 11 after only 36 hours this season) and another TH8 in my clan had 73. We both keep our TH inside and never really ride shields as we enjoy attacking. I quite often see bases or people with 50-75 defensive wins in G1-C2 as well.
As for being anti-hog... one attack is not really a good showing of this. If I attacked from the North end with hogs/heal/and rage that base design would not stand a chance. I never use more than 6-8 hogs in an attack, but if I did, just saying.
