I spent $10 when first starting to get my third builder quick. I'm glad I did but promised myself that would be it and thus far I've stayed true to that. I've got all five builders now through achievement gems and will have a fully maxed TH9 in a month or slightly more.
I respect people who want to gem and have never hated on them. I will never do it personally as I can spend my money in much better ways, but I thank them daily for keeping the game free for the rest of us!

When I do buy gems, it's usually about $5/week. I use them primarily to boost stuff, and occasionally to finish up a build if I've mis-timed an upgrade. The way I see it, it's an incredible bargain, and by far the most effective entertainment dollars I spend... huge bang for the buck. I'll continue spending that amount for as long as I play the game. Makes it way more enjoyable, for me. :)

I spend money on gems to boost barracks. This is my hobby that i have fun doing. Might as well be able to raid more, if i have fun doing it. The amount of money? I don't count these things.
Loads, and usually spend £3 per week. I never buy resources just boost things, I like to do the hard work myself so I only pay for time when i misjudge something or want to go to bed and get bored of raiding.. Which occasionally happens lol

Think i have spent somewhere around 150-250 Euros since then.
I have no problem spending money on gems, the way i see it, i have been very entertained for a long time for that money. In my country, that money is not more than 2-3 times to the club anyways.... and that always leaves me with hangovers:p
i have never spent gems on resources, exept for 5-6k de back in my th7 days to get BK.
Mostly i use them on barracks and spell factory boost for some heavy farming, speeding up upgrades or defenses and of course i got my builders
$50, as much as I paid for Sid Meier's Civilization and Baldur's Gate.
But I would not spend a single penny more now that Softbank (Supercell's owner) is trying to gouge its customers.
My motto is always that if you are trying to hard sell, I will never ever buy your stuffs.

Started nov 2012, spent around 300-400 € (speed up builder, boosting...some rage gemming while pushing ;) ) and i enjoyed it. I like this game and i like to support it, i spent a lot of time with it and why not spent some money on things you like. Before that i spent around 100 € on PS3 Games every month, so CoC is much cheaper for me :D

I have spent US$65, I think about $25 was for my son and the rest for me. I used it to get my five builders, and I think I spent money to get the gems to speed up my TH7 upgrade.
I don't have plans to spend more but I am not against spending more. As a software developer I try to support the "free" games I like, respect and spend time enjoying.

Less than around $100 in about a year. I spent it mostly on builders and boosting spells/barracks for de farming or pushing. I have also sped up a few critical upgrades to spend gold and I also gemmed my level 6 loons.
Do I consider myself a gemmer, no. I have not nor will I ever gem resources.
All of that being said, please don't hate on people who spend around what I have or the people who have spent thousands. I spend money on gems because I love this game. I spend a lot of time playing it and having some gems makes it much better. It makes me happy to escape life and spend some time playing so why not spend a little on it.
The people who gemmed max bases for the most part have the money to blow on a game. So why hate on them. That's how they want to spend their money, so power to them.

First 20 was for a Builder Hut. Second was 100.00 for Gems that I used thru-out a year occasionally reducing times on stuff. I have yet to Gem resources. Can't quite bring myself to do that, they didn't make it very "Gem efficient".
the last 100.00 was a few Months ago and I still have 1200 gems or so left. I am finding as a new TH 10 in this new *cough* splendid loot update- to survive I have to Gem my Spell factory constantly to keep hogs in play (heal spells) to farm efficiently. And occasionally pop a mis-timed building.
And I think of all the things I blow money on, nickle and dime vs how much time I actually play this dumb game :). 220.00 so far for a year is a pretty good deal for me and well worth contributing to the developers.

Honestly only about $25. Enough for 5 builders, and when I was a new TH7 to get my BK straight away.
The new boost system is tempting me to spend more, 10 gems for 2 hours is very reasonable.
I have been playing this game every day, multiple times per day, for over a year.
The entertainment I get from it, is worth a few bucks to me.
I've purchased gems a few times, I've experimented to find the best way to spend them, and I've concluding that boosting is the way to go (drills, spells, barracks and heroes if raiding back-to-back). The last time I bought gems was nearly two months ago, and I still have about 1,800 remaining, out of the 6,500 that I bought.
All in, I'm up to $410. To me it's cheap entertainment, and I can afford it.
Gemmers make the game free for everyone else. You're welcome.
