Hi all-
I just renewed Tom, and he offered a discount for his extended service.. it was like full price for 1 day, 10% off for 5 days and 30% off for 10 days.
And to top it off as soon as I excepted, some balloon came floating up from where he was standing.. I touched the balloon, it "popped" and a deed came out.
Wonder if it's random like the diamond discount offers or just right now. I just got him a few days back and still got 7 days to go, will be sad if I'm not offered discount next time.

I don't know if this is new or something that was already part of the game, all that I know it's that this is the first time I've gotten it. I hired Tom yesterday morning for 1 day for 15 diamonds and his time was up today just a few hours ago. Now I opened the app and a pop up screen with Tom on it appeared saying something like: Thanks for hiring and for that I offer you a 10% discount for 5 days (instead of 60, it was 55) and a 20% discount for 10 days (instead of 100 diamonds, 80)
There was no discount for 1 day not even a 5% lol
I was almost tempted to buy the 10 days for 20 diamonds less but I overthink and the offer is for about 3-5 minutes and after the slots get black and you can't buy them anymore. I didn't wanted to buy Tom's time for 10 days today cause my barn is almost full and I won't have all that much time to play this week, but overall I think this is a great thing.
Opinions on this, was this already happening or is this new?

He too offered me the discount today but i didnt got it because i took long to buy. You have to buy the discount within minutes or you dont buy it. I think this is awesome and I hope i get it next time when i have the time to hire him for 10 days. I have the diamonds but not the time :sadface: haha

So from what I understand by reading everyhing above it seems the offer comes when your time with Tom comes to an end? And u have a few minutes to basically re-new his employment with a discount and get a little gift in a balloon too. If not, the offers go again and he charges full price again? I think this is a way for Supercell to keep employers re-newing Tom and have him all the time. For a 20% discount, I dot mind at all. Have 4 days left, hope I get the offer.
Yesterday my 10 days expired with Tom and he came up normally asking for the usually rate. I clicked on no and then noticed he was holding a yellow balloon with a percentage sign on it. I clicked on Tom and this came up.

I said yes of course! ;) He then lets go of his balloon and it floats up and if you click on the balloon it will pop and you get another diamond. I guess if you say no the balloon still floats up and if you click on it you get a gold coin. Good for for 1 wheat on my farm. ;)
I don't know if I could play this game without Tom but he is quite the salesman!
That's great! I hired him for 10 days, I have a little over 3 days left. I had planned on rehiring him, this makes me happy! I hope it's a universal thing!

I've only had the balloon that Tom was holding after his time was up. I popped that one and a diamond came out. But I haven't had any random balloon flyovers.

The other day I noticed a little balloon floating across my farm, so I tapped and out came a land deed. But I haven't seen any more. Did I dream this, quite possible of course, or has anyone else seen a balloon float across their farm?

I've seen it before. But usually it's when you hire Tom and he expired. He then gives you a special discount offer and if you do get it then you can pop the balloon and you get random items.Quote:

Can anyone confirm that you get the discount offer even if you only hired Tom for 1 day?
He expires in 2 days for me and I want to take a break from him but greedy for the discount. I was thinking, if you get the offer even after hiring Tom for 1 day but plan plan to get him for 10 days (full price, 100 diamonds), it's better to pay 15 diamonds for 1 day and then get him for 10 days with 30% discount. Much cheaper. 11 days for 85 diamonds vs. 10 days for 100 diamonds.

And I missed out on the Tom offer ;-( I knew his lease ended today. I was playing and the phone rang. Really short call, but by the time I got back to my iPad, the offer was expired. So now I'm considering not hiring him again until SC updates the game and in the meantime don't play that much.
Tom came up for renewal for me today & I wasn't offered a discount. I have always taken him since he was offered but someone on the forum said to say no when offered & you would be offered a discount. I was not. Thanks Supercell! This is the first time I have not taken Tom & will not unless I'm offered a discount. This is how loyal customers are treated, the same with diamonds. I haven't bought any in a long time because I'm never offered any discounts on those except those $69.95 ones that no one can afford.
The first time after Tom expired he asked to be hired again for the full amount and I said no. He then had the balloon and I accepted the $30 discount for 10 days. Since then when he expires it offers me the 30% again as long as I do it within the next few minutes which I have done about 2 times now. I have a few hundred diamonds left and will keep getting him if they continue to offer the discount until I am out of diamonds. At that point I don't plan on buying any more diamonds because of the cost to bring in the boat now and them not having some kind of setting to turn off speeding up things which everybody has had the experience of accidently hitting multiple times.
Strange how some people have to decline the full price first to get the discount. I get the discount offer right away when Tom expires. Anyways, I'm definitely taking a break from him, unless there's a update before he expires. Hay Day is so slow right now and I hate having to go on every other hr because I already payed for him.
For the second time in a row, the discount offer didn't work.
I get to see the 4 boxes but only the 'not now' box is yellow and can be ticked.
The other ones are grey and aren't doing anything if I tick them.
I was waiting for the offer, so I didn't go away or anything.
There was no time beween the appearance of the offer and me trying to get it.
Now I hired Tom for the full price for 5 days and I regret it already:(
Oh, and I never got a balloon or something after hiring Tom:confused:

If the windows does show the discount offers but they are grey, it means were still available when you first got the pop-up but that they now have expired. Same thing happened to me just right now, I left the game to look at the time. When I came back the discount offer was already opened but within 2 seconds, the discount windows turned gray.Quote:

i'm relatively new here (i think only my second post)... and i'm interested in knowing if tom is able to lQQk for expansion items (planks, nails, land deeds, stakes, etc)?? i've never used him, other than in my early days of farming when he came "free" for 24 hours. i don't think i've ever had more than 24 diamonds at any one time... the few i do get i keep losing to a "fast feeding finger" :) which only speeds up my already fast egg layers :)

I just rehired Tom for 10 days with a 30% discount. I have been offered the same thing every time the 'timer' runs out on him. The discount is only for a short amount of time (a couple hours at most I think).
The balloon has given me 1 diamond each time as well.

I wanna rant!!! The notification when the 2 hours timer was off doesn't work properly! I didn't receive any notification till I remember that I hired him for a day and quickly log in to my farm to use him. Thanks to that, I didn't get to use him fully.
So Tom just finished up his service to me a few minutes ago. I didn't see a balloon nor did I click on him; a window just popped straight up and asked if I wanted to rehire him at a discount. And I did want to! But every single option was greyed out except "No thanks". I tried clicking the greyed out options but it, of course, didn't work. So I hit information instead of "no thanks" and when I hit the check mark to exit out of information, the prices were now the original prices instead of discount. All this within a minute. Why did this happen?!? Why let me see what the discounts could be if you're not going to give it to me?
The last 2 times I had hired Tom, the discounts were always greyed out as soon I clicked on the boy to rehire right after he expired. I also never see a balloon, a movie ticket, or anything that everyone has all talked about. Since then, I have decided to not rehire him, as I don't get to hire him at a discount. If this is Supercell's little game of "Nyah nyah you can see the discount but you don't get any".... I wont be too happy.

I had to rent Tom to find me dynamite, shovels and T-N-T. Afterwards, he wanted to give me a special rehire rate and he was holding the balloon. I couldn't choose no thanks and tapping him didn't work. Closed it out, came back later and saw the balloon he had been holding floating across my farm. I tapped it on a whim, the balloon popped, and out came a deed :)
My brother who is level 21 just popped a discount balloon and got a mallet. Very weird since he hasn't even unlocked land expansions yet.
I popped one yesterday and got a marker stake. That's the only time I have seen one.
Yes, so far I have gotten deeds, coins and a few other items from popping toms balloon.
I got something, I am a level 70, it must not have been that exciting because I don't remember what came out of the balloon.

I think it is random but after you hire tom and he expires, he will offer you a discount, he may or may not be holding a balloon in his hand at the time he offers a discount to rehire tom. Whether you rehire him or not he will eventually release the balloon into the air and once it's floating in the air, tap on it and you will get something. So even if you decide not to rehire him, he will eventually let go of the balloon and you can then pop it. I think the offer expires 1 hour.Quote:

Actually that's just for tapping on it. Even if you refuse the offer if you wait about 5 to 10 minutes he will release the balloon and if you tap it then it will pop and something will fall out of it.Quote:

I came home, expecting to find Tom just dawdling awkwardly around as he does, but got a real surprise when I opened the game: on BOTH devices, Tom was in my face offering the discount.
As for the balloon, I only remember seeing it on the iPod, and it was a deed. Unneeded, of course, as I had already finished expanding that farm.
