Tom discount and balloon?

I didn't know about this until I hired him for one day few weeks back. And I saw him holding a yellow balloon after his service was expired. Kinda curious about the balloon so I went to tap on it and was offered 20% off for his 5 or 10 days services. Then I immediately tap "No thanks". LOL! :p The offer does expired really fast, probably less than 5 minutes and the balloon vanished. :rolleyes:

I wanna rant!!! The notification when the 2 hours timer was off doesn't work properly! I didn't receive any notification till I remember that I hired him for a day and quickly log in to my farm to use him. Thanks to that, I didn't get to use him fully.

So Tom just finished up his service to me a few minutes ago. I didn't see a balloon nor did I click on him; a window just popped straight up and asked if I wanted to rehire him at a discount. And I did want to! But every single option was greyed out except "No thanks". I tried clicking the greyed out options but it, of course, didn't work. So I hit information instead of "no thanks" and when I hit the check mark to exit out of information, the prices were now the original prices instead of discount. All this within a minute. Why did this happen?!? Why let me see what the discounts could be if you're not going to give it to me?

The last 2 times I had hired Tom, the discounts were always greyed out as soon I clicked on the boy to rehire right after he expired. I also never see a balloon, a movie ticket, or anything that everyone has all talked about. Since then, I have decided to not rehire him, as I don't get to hire him at a discount. If this is Supercell's little game of "Nyah nyah you can see the discount but you don't get any".... I wont be too happy.

The offer is only available for about 1 minute when the time is up. This means, if you had 20 minutes left after doing his final errend, you have to be there within 20 minutes. If you log on after 1 hr or 2 hrs, you'll still get see Tom wake up and get to see the discount but it will be grey and not available.

If you really want or plan to hire him for 10 days and want the 30% discount, I recommend you hire him for only 1 day for 15 diamonds. Make sure you are ready when time is up the next day and then hire him for 10 days for 75 diamonds. Overall cost will be 85 diamonds for 11 days which is still much better than full price.

The same thing just happened to me. Tom has just finished and I clicked just as he expired. He also offered me the discounts but they were also greyed out. As I "missed out" the discount the day before I wanted to be extra careful and didn't wait.

I decided the same thing as Chazani: I won't rehire him unless this bug disappears. Because I do think it's a bug.

A friend said that Tom releases a balloon and if you can catch it and tap you get a reward! It hasn't happened to me. Do have to be on a certain level?? I'm on level 43, just wondered why I'm not getting balloons?:(:(

I had to rent Tom to find me dynamite, shovels and T-N-T. Afterwards, he wanted to give me a special rehire rate and he was holding the balloon. I couldn't choose no thanks and tapping him didn't work. Closed it out, came back later and saw the balloon he had been holding floating across my farm. I tapped it on a whim, the balloon popped, and out came a deed :)

My brother who is level 21 just popped a discount balloon and got a mallet. Very weird since he hasn't even unlocked land expansions yet.

I popped one yesterday and got a marker stake. That's the only time I have seen one.

Yes, so far I have gotten deeds, coins and a few other items from popping toms balloon.
