Fair point Gubert, however I think you might be mistaken about the Quests. They would be 100% optional. Do them and get some rewards, don't and nothing happens (similar to raiding now). It adds more fun and participation in the game, something a majority of people on the forums have been clamoring for.
The complication might be in the rules, numbers, and math behind the idea (which is probably half or 2/3 of the whole idea thread). On the surface level, people will receieve Quests which they can choose to complete or not. It doesn't change the game at all, and the core concept of the game remains unchanged. The Quests revolve around you attacking, defending, and participating in a clan, which is what you currently do in the game now. You don't even have to pay attention to what Quests you have and many of them could be completed, kind of like Achievements.
A cool thing about this idea is that it can be used by and affects all players: low levels, high levels, low TH's, high TH's, gemmers, non-gemmers, farmers, trophy pushers, casual players, and hard-core players. All could enjoy it, which doesn't happen often with updates as you know.
I do like the idea of extra single player missions though that you mention. But after completing them, then what? (unless it's a long campaign)
