FYI Player lvl has nothing to do with matchmaking

For those that still say something like this,"I got attack by a player xx lvls above me and looted xx amt of gold and resources.". Matchmaking is based on the amt of trophies you have. Matchmaking has flaws, but Supercell is working on it. From my experiences, matchmaking match players in the range between 300 above you and 300 below you in trophies. Every now and then I see players who excede this range.

Anyway, if a player who is lvl 80 and drops his trophies at around this range, he can attack you and get 3 stars from you. Depending on his town hall, he may or may not be penelized as the result of the current update.

Regardless of all the rants and complains on the forums, some players actually quit the game and sold most of their buildings to protest against Supercell. Most player will still be here. Some might semi quit like PedroLee, while others still play. The numbers of hours players still play is up to debate, but players still play.

No matter what Supercell does with the update, there will be players quitting and more new players taking their places.
All in all, Supercell is here to stay whether you like it or not.

The choice is yours to make. Stay and play OR quit and find a different game to play. :p

Give it up. Quite frankly if they are complaining after the recent update which improved their situation dramatically, they are simply trolling and should be treated as such.

Totally agree, it has been said ( but can't find the post), match making is based on trophies and also how well or bad u do in the last few battles, ie trophies won or lost. Therefore since I change up my play style I have been doing ok. For example I don't go for the full trophies win, leave when I have the resources, especially at my crappy lvl.

Can someone from admin back this up and clear this up once and for all.

Here is the link. If it's what we have to live with, so be it. I still say trophies are a better indicator of how active you are in the game, level shows a bit more how far in the game your account/base is, but I'm just a player.

How is that? A person with 0 trophies could theoretically be as active as a person with 3000 trophies.

Also, everything you do in game increases your experience. If you choose you can buy and sell the same building over and over again to push your level up without making your base any more powerful. Donating troops and clearing rocks also increase your level but have no effect on how far in the game you are. Both of these things are signs of activity regardless of whether or not that activity is productive.

There is a direct relationship between activity in game and level. There is only a casual relationship between strength in game and level. Yes higher level people tend to be stronger, but this is by no means an absolute. Two people who are the same level can vary wildly in strength.

Trophies would be a good indicator of relative strength if people were serious about getting and keeping them.

At the top of the leader boards this is true, however strength at that point isn't dictated so much by base configuration as by dollar expenditure.

The problem that Supercell has, is that there is currently no real good measurement of strength. TH sucks for that. Levels suck for that. Trophies suck for that (unless you're working the leader board). Maybe they need to assign a point value to every structure for the defender and compare that with point values for the attacker's potential army size, troop upgrade status, and spell status. Then use that to determine the loot tables and match priority (i.e. show "better" matches before useless ones).

I agree with your last statement, there is no perfect way to do this with the currently used indicators. One thread a week or so ago had a great idea, assign a value to every defensive building, upgrade of such, troop upgrade, etc to come up with a relative defensive score. Same on offensive, level of spell factory, spells, troop upgrades, clan castle size, size of army camps for an offensive score. Then match by the offensive capability vs the defensive capability... but we don't have that.

So what do we have. Trophies - Exclude anyone intentionally not playing to potential. What I mean by it's a better indicator of activity level is basically trophies are the net of what you can get while online/attacking minus (or in some cases plus) the net of what you can lose/gain while offline and defending. In most cases, it will be how much time you play. I said before - take 5 equal bases and give them to players that can play 30 minutes, 1 hour, 2 hours, 4 hours, and 6 hours a day. Same bases, same level of ability of the 5 users - in a few weeks, the trophies will show the time you played. If all 5 start at 1000, I'd bet in 2 weeks the 5 would be similar to: 900, 1200, 1500, 1800. But it's the same exact base! It shouldn't match up versus others any differently. If I take a week off without a shield and go from 2500 to 1500 trophies, when I come back, is my base any less lethal at 1500 than when I was 2500? I can take a run of the mill level 6-7 TH base from 1000 to 2000 trophies in a few days if I spend a ton of time on it. Last example - my clanmate TheTrueKing - topped 3k, but his job takes him away a few days at a time, he's like 2700 now, will probably be 2500 when his job is done and plays again. His base is still the same with a VALID -500 trophy drop.

Next is levels. Is levels perfect? No - as you said, selling/re-building (I assume, never done it) gives you exp ext time - that will stop with the sell button removed, but even if they keep the sell, should make it experience only once per building/level. Then, the donating troops gives 5 exp - but... most people donate about the same amount, so we all progress fairly equal with that - but yes, it's a variable. If you drop trophies, or go on vacation, can't play and lose trophies, your level still stays the same (just as your offensive/defensive capability does). Is level perfect? no - because you get points for everything you build, so if I follow those old-old guides, and upgrade every collector first to support you later, I'll be level 25 with the offensive/defensive capability of a level 5. But, as you progress in the game (beyond the first few weeks we're all newbs), I've found 90% of those within a few levels of me are very similar in offensive and defensive structure, whereas trophies even within 500 of me either way has every range of player.

But, supercell has said trophies will be the method to the madness, despite more reasons to show how trophies don't mean a fair fight than any other indicator. But... trophies it is.

I dont like lower level always cry like baby,"oh I've been hit by 10 level above me! oh my gold was robbed by level 61 while I was level 16!" (OH, PLEASE STOP IT!! LOOK WHAT HAVE YOU DONE!! YOU CHANGE THE GAME PLAY!!)

I suck it up when I was hit by higher level, cause I can get revenge on lower level. Higher level stole my gold, I can take all gold from lower level. And dont tell me you never did that. That's just the system, that's what I call it food chain. The stronger eat the weak.

Now because of the complain of lower level, you, all low level, will have fun for a while and safe in your town hall 4 or 5. But when you get to town hall 6 and 7, you will face resource problem. And when you upgrade to level 8, that's game over for you. And dont get too happy for new town hall 9, it will take months or year you lower level can get that.

Thanks to you lower level for new looting system. Better to shut up, and enjoy the play, than cry like baby, or just quit!

It's not about the character level. It's the level of the Troops that makes a player strong (ex. I can be a level 40 and have troops level). And about the trophies, the calculation is unclear. I have no idea how a level 9 would appear in my searches at 1600+ trophy range. Seems like magic.

People that complain about player level don't know how the system works, you can simply ignore them.
