IT Disco - TH9 Skip to TH10?!

So I am fairly half way through my TH9 adventure and I am looking to max my base before moving onto TH10. However, today I experienced a couple of 'Fail' raids against TH10 and IT discos which has led to me question... Could it be worth moving onto TH10 without maxing TH9 completely?

The reasoning behind this is largley due to the new IT disco mode. I have recently decided to take on a few pre-mature TH10's with IT fully loaded. I was aiming to get the 100 gems by defeating 10 IT.
However, having level 6 troops, I still managed to fail miserably to get to the centre of the base. (Note this was done without Hogs as I do not have them level 4 or 5).

Many of these bases were no where near maxed or even half way, yet because they have their IT in the centre on disco mode, it killed off majority of my troops instantaneously (yes with the help of 3 x-bows and other defensive buildings).

Eventually though, I did manage to defeat 10 IT to get the 100 gems woooohooo!! :D

Back on topic, I want to hear all your views on whether the risk of moving to TH10 not fully maxed could be worth it due to the IT disco appeal or could it be a game ending IQuit decision?

If you max splash damage, air defenses, and x-bows first (maybe Teslas, as they are very good point defenses)


The loot disadvantage isn't worth the defense advantage - BUT if your a skilled raider and have the critical defenses maxed out, extra levels to cannons and archer towers pale in comparison to 2 level 1 infernos.


BUT you will have to raid TH9 players or Th10 players. Right now TH9 are not easy to find (we are in hiding)

I'd also get those hogs up to level 5 before you do it. These and maxed heal spells will allow you to spank TH9 players. Max healers can be used as a way to reduce spell use.


Also Balloons are a good idea, especially with the new minion level coming.

EDIT: I have no idea what army comp can effectively farm a Th10 player.... those infernos pretty much kill any cheap/fast army

NO, absolutely not. Your defense is not as important as your loot penalty. So stick to your Th9 and max it when your loot is good.

In addition: winning defense will give you NOTHING, so why even try to win?

I've already made my move to TH10 without maxing 9. The freeze spells and IT seem more than worth it in my opinion.

I don't see a reason to wait when someone with lvl 4 defenses and gold walls have 2 disco inferno towers...

Once you have your offense maxed and your splash maxed id say go for it if you want to, myself im trying to max th9.

Because he definitely cant progress faster than a th9 (unless of course he decides to spend much more time on the game)

Your progressing speed is the most important thing here. Once you go to th10, it'll drop significantly, since now you cannot raid those juicy th8 for more than 400k resources anymore. You will have to stick to fighting th9-10.

Before you upgrade, you must have:

- Lvl 8 Walls
- Lvl 7 Mortar/AD/WT
- Archer Queen
- Lvl 3 X-Bows x2
- Clan Castle Lvl 5

Then your good to go :/

I still say you should have at least a few canon lvl11 and Archer tower to lvl 10. The xbows should be maxed as well. Your teslas should be at least lv6 and your air defense should be lvl6 minimum as well (very critical).

Because once you hit th10, you will be occupied by hundred of things that you won't have enough time to focus on those stuffs until a loooooong loooong time later.

If your an active player (take more than what is taken from you) i would max th9. Those juicy th8's you need to hold on to as long as you can. So easy raiding bases with no xbows

I would wait. This is my base and even though I want th10 and those shiny discos I'm waiting. Id advise to do the same. You won't catch up and if you do it will take a lot longer

Coming from a maxed TH8 aside maybe 28 walls still at level 7, I too firmly believe the best way to progress is by maxing everything. But the IT do make the TH10's very powerful due to the disco feature. And having experienced many bases with IT on disco mode but not near maxed with other upgrades directed me to start this discussion.

Think about it. You winning a couple of defense and gain some cups (which i doubt you'll give a damn about as a farmer). You'll have to move up, attacking tougher bases while facing a stiff loot penalty. I'll repeat, winning defense won't give you squat. And you may have a look at my recent thread which addressed this defense issue (my base has inferno too).

You can easily put your th9 outside, stay in the 1500-1600 range, farm to heaven and ride your shield whenever you're done raiding.



I might understand your reason if you wanna get the extra 20 troops, extra spell, and higher level troops to push to champ with your offense. But just for the inferno? Not worth it.

Are you trying to play the long or the short game? You absolutely know that waiting is the better long term decision if you want the best base possible in the shortest amount of time.

The question you have to ask yourself is it worth the long term detriment for a short term boost? If you don't plan on playing much longer you may as well rush, but there's really no way to justify it for long term success.

Where are they? I would estimate 95% of my raids are th9's and th10's without infernos. Hardly ever see a th8 worth raiding.

just thinking I can see another issue caused by the op inferno towers. A very large percentage of players are skipping stright to th10 to get them. Even forums users who have always maxed first are debating it (myself included). It's already the case in higher cups but soon there will be very few th9's to raid at all.

Depending on your range, there're tons of th8 under at gold.

Not sure if this has been ruled out but seeming there are 3 levels of inferno wouldn't it be a decent idea to maybe give th9 the option of infernos but only to lvl 1?

If your planning on doing a couple pushes I would say yes. Plus its much easier to protect storages that sit next to a level 1 inferno. The additional 20 troop space you receive was the selling point for me last year.

ehh, it would hurt the look of my base since I've maxed every TH.

If youre only interested in cups, go for it.

Max x-bows, infernos, and wiz ts for sure. Other than that it is up to your preference. I found the jump to TH10 had a fairly significant decrease in loot. On the positive side I have gotten way more 300K+ each raids than I would have had the old system still been in place. If you are already use to searching a lot then the change won't be that overwhelming.

As someone said earlier, defense does not win loot! And it is fairly easy to hit 2 gold stores of a premature th10, with or without discos!

Stay th9 and keep popping little th8!

Besides, you already have the best defense in the game. Townhall outside with no defenses remotely nearby is the best defense in the game. Hands down!

Hilarious, nonetheless.

If you are a farmer like me who gets their enjoyment out of this game by stealing loot then max th9. There is a huge disadvantage to not being able to farm TH8 players and even when you find a juicy TH8 your still only looking at 150k available. Infernos are nice for defense but if your a farmer you probably get 1 actual real attack like maybe once a week at the most.

Don't be like all the preemie th10 scrubs sitting in crystal 1 and 2 with lvl 1 IT and pink walls who are always poor.

I know for sure I wont be pre-maturely moving onto TH10 as I enjoy the challenge of maxing my base. But wanted to hear everyones view on this topic as the IT do have a great appeal and are definsively brilliant on disco mode!

Max out EVERYTHING NO MATTER WHAT!

Two inferno towers to guard your loot dose have it's advantages but that said loot penalties at th 10 are pretty nasty. Also gets a little frustrating seeing all these premature th 10s popping up with two inferno towers and level 6 or 7 defenses. Just means that they raid for less loot which equates to less loot for them and less loot in the game.

It was said by someone before that a premature th 10 with two inferno towers shouldn't be harder to beat than a fully maxed th 9 considering that it has taken many more months to max that th 9. Now you just get two inferno towers and go to crystal or the masters. The dynamics of the game have certainly changed a lot in the past few month. Just saying.

Im th8 and since the loot update, I loose same amount of resources about 200k gold elixir and 2000 de from storages both if th9 or th10 attacks. So there is no bonus/penalty anymore loot is same for everybody its just bigger loss in defence at higher th! So if you dont think the fun part is to be done with everything before upgrade th then I do highly recommend you to get th10 as fast a you got your favorite troops maxed and max camps and troops for th10!!! That way you will be able to farm so much more compared to th8 at least!! New lootsystem and IT multishot sucks for th8 farmers just saying...still i am one of those who prefere maxing the th 100% before getting new stuff so I will stick to getting all maxe including walls before i upgrade th! Im not like playing this to become number 1 champion anyway

Wrong wrong wrong, so very wrong. There is still a loot penalty! Same as before, except SC increased amount that could be raided from storages so th8 went from losing 200k/200k to losing 300k/300k. Don't listen to this guy :P, loot penalty at TH10 looks horrible.

Yeah, I say stay as long as you can (and move on only when you are bored)

I kept track for a while when I was farming and the majority of my loot (over 75%) as a TH9 comes from TH8s.
To lose access to that would clearly make a big difference and the troops unlocked at TH10 aren't really going to make farming a lot easier are they (is the L6 goblin all that good?)

(I am close to making this decision myself... For the record I have one level of air defense, one level of archer towers and one level of teslas to upgrade - and so much work to do on walls it's embarrassing. Heroes and Lab DE upgrades too, but I won't let them stop me moving on when the time comes)

i think this would kill the game for a lot of people. Th10's are already untouchable without frezze due to inferno towers do you really want to take away the option of raiding th9's as well?

th10 looting very sucks compare to th9

Exactly! And the moment ur main defenses (x-bows, mortars, WT) are maxxed, and you stay in the right farming range you dont event get raided. After the loot change, I was cautious but not anymore. Even when my storages are full, defenses are mostly a th affair with no collateral damage.

I've been considering this as well. I'm still fairly new to Th9 (just over a month into it) and I was on a trophy push and reached 2800+ trophies. During my push I discovered that I could 2 star 99.9999% of TH9s I came across with my balloon army, yet I failed on Premie TH10s with discos, and my only chance against discos was to shirt the base for 50% and avoid the ITs completely. I realized that against a max TH9 with max balloons and minions I can get 90% with an occasional 3 star, yet a premie with multi mode infernos I barely get 1 star. Not at all worth maxing TH9 if you like to trophy push.



However I'm waiting for the next update. If ITs dont get nerfed I may take the plunge.

I don't feel like reading through this entire thread, but if you are just wanting IT kills, they are easy and count with inactives. I find them all the time while farming in the 1700's.
