New Troop: The Paladin

Clash of Clans New troop idea: Paladin

The Paladin would be available as a second upgrade for the dark barracks available at town hall 9. The upgrade would cost 3'500'000 elixir and take 10 days to complete. The skulls on the dark barracks would breath fire and their would be gold and silver lining and details.

Paladin description: The Paladins, or twelve peers, are divine soldiers of the highest order. The Paladin purges evil with each divine strike and blesses nearby allies with a percentage of the life force stolen. There would be a limit of up to 12 Paladins, due to the story of the paladins (12 peers)


Paladin Stats: lvl 1, lvl 2, lvl 3, lvl 4
Dark Elixir cost: 300, 340, 380, 420
Hit points: 850, 1000, 1200, 1550
Damage Per Second: 70, 85, 100, 120
Percentage Heal: 20%, 25%, 30%, 35%
Favourite target: Any
Damage type: single target
Heal type: Area Splash (4 tile circle diameter)
Damage Targets: Ground
Heal Targets: Ground & Air
Housing space: 15
Training Time: 18M
Movement Speed: 18



Lvl 1:The Paladin wears dark grey and black, non-shiny, metal armour, a large helmet with a cross as the eye-slit. It wields a sword of 3/4 its size, (it is just smaller than a barb king). It has a 1 and a half tile attack range (longer than average) due to the huge sword. The heal radius is indicated by the gold coloured splash with each attack.


Lvl 2: The Paladin gains a black cloak and armour becomes light grey. The Sword becomes shiny and appears to glisten. The Helmet gains a small plume above.


Lvl 3: The Paladin’s armour becomes a shiny silver with some black details between armour plates. The sword gains details in black and gold.


Lvl 4: The Paladin’s armour gains shiny black and gold details and emanates red between armour plates. The sword has a small flame detail down the middle and the plume above the helmet becomes bigger and wider. The Paladin's attacks also have a fire splash, which is purely for visual enhancement (it does not change the ability):cool:

In what way would you say it's OP. Do you think it has too many hit points etc. I thought it was balanced by the fact that it doesn't focus particular buildings and has relatively low hit points. Thank you very much for feedback but more explanation would be helpful. Actually just saw its DPS is quite high and probably needs revising.

Great idea :) a few tweaks i would reccomend:

1) health is far too high. Would reccomend dropping it to giant/valkaryie level

2) housing space could be played with (miniumim 12, max 18)- remember a DRAGON takes up 20 housing spaces :)

3) the limit would not have to be superimposed, although powerful, at minuimum 12x 15 = 180 housing spaces (around 73% of the total space in 4 maxed camps)

Is this based on the game series: Heroes V Might and magic(just a game example)?

OP to high hp way good dps could be 150-240 otherwise not bad

Could use less HP, more damage.
Less house space also. 10 max.

Thanks guys for the tips, I'm thinking of making the DPS 110, 125, 155, 180 and the HP 650, 720, 800, 900 and this hero is inspired by a really underused champion called Sion in League of Legends, who's ultimate ability gives him a huge amount of life steal, plus he can heal allies with his attacks. Also I think 12 housing space would be better

Thus would be a troop i see myself using, what dark barracks level do you see this being? Able to be used by town hall 8 or 9? Maybe 9 since witch is the last one you unlock after upgrading dark barracks but very nice idea.

I love this idea and reckon that supercell should use this idea. This would Finish off the lvl 9 th troops. And then they could start the th lvl 10 troops like a Phoenix or something. Or this could be used for a lvl 11 th troops and barracks would cost 4,125,000 elixir.

Thanks for more feedback, I'm really hoping supercell sees this idea as I believe it would be a really viable addition to the game if balanced correctly.

I did not copy this idea from anyone, it was just something that was thought up and could have an influence on high level play, seeing as healers don't get much selection in high level play

like it, but i kinda want to see something completely original without any of previous units abilities.

How is my idea unoriginal?
for most players the healer is a redundant troop at higher levels, this new troop may be a viable support unit in clash

Sorry man should have clarified :) It means the percentage of the damage dealt in each attack by the paladin that is converted into a small Area of effect heal to allies.

so, It is a Hero-ish aura that do heal instead of rage? Interesting Idea

It's not too OP because these guys can't really be used along with Hogs/air troops (because they jump/fly over walls), Giants/defence targeting army (because this one doesn't have a favourite target). It might increase the use of Pekka though

The problem is if these guys heal each others.

And, is this guy's heal is negated with inferno?

Yes! I was thinking this troop would work perfectly with a couple of pekkas, and yes his heal would need to be effected by inferno tower, but only units who have been attacked by the inferno tower in the last 5 seconds will be unable to be healed, all other troops can be healed, maybe once the paladin is attacked by the inferno tower his heal will be reduced/completely cut off?

Whoa! This troop seems fairly balanced.. But I could never see myself spending that much and waiting 10 days!!

I like the idea, the troop seems balanced and I could see myself using this troop. As for what happens with inferno towers I think as long as the paladin is being attacked by the tower it cannot heal troops.

good idea I would love to see in the game. maybe make space 20 instead of 15?:)

Thanks very much for the feedback guys, as for its viability, I think it will be very viable in high leagues because it can support units such as PEKKAs to keep them alive longer and hopefully make PEKKAs more viable, and a new attack strategy called PALAPEKKARCHER (paladin, pekka archers) that can tank heaps of damage and deal tons of damage. The only issue is the massive time to upgrade the barracks unfortunately, but it will probably be worth it.

Ive always loved the idea of Paladin/Knight in Coc so this is perfect! I love how it heals your troops, i think this would be perfectly viable in high level gameplay. Great work guys!
