The Purpose of This Game...

I'm not popular on the forums or in the community in general, but I hope this is of some interest to you. In a recent debate with a fellow clasher who's name will not be revealed (because I forgot), I questioned the purpose of this game. He made the argument that to get trophies is the point of the game for every player. This was stupid (in my opinion). My purpose for playing this game is the fun and the satisfaction of completing an upgrade, so therefor my existence in this game and the purpose in which I play it for cancels out the argument...

So what is the main purpose of this game?

This answer was rather easy to come. We can compare this to life. Our purpose as physical beings on this Earth isn't to pass down our genes to our offspring. It's what we choose it to be. If we want to follow a religious life and follow God and fulfill his will or something like that, then that is your purpose in life. If we want to make the most money we can, then our purpose in life is to make a lot of money. In that same way, clash of clan's purpose is chosen by each individual player. My clanmate still plays this game to say hi and donate every once in a while. He plays this game for the social side. Hannibal played because he enjoyed the strategy it took to find a base and find a weakness and break it to take the loot inside. Jorge Yao played because he wanted to be the number 1 player in trophies.

In the global that I was in, quite a few people seemed to agree with this unknown player, so I assume the "purpose of the game" is seen by many to be one specific thing. I have come to this conclusion. The purpose of this game is to play the way you want to play it.

The social aspect of clan chat and global. Meeting people from all over who share a common interest and developing a strong base to carry me to the tops of the food chain one day.

Thats why I play.

Same here! There are better ways to achieve the other things. For social aspect one can spend time with family,friends,colleagues or even call up someone you never met for a long time. For achievements there are other things in life more worth striving for. I play this game for fun when I couldn't be doing anything else, which is why I'm keeping my finger crossed that this coming update will put something back for the active intermittent player.

To make your victims feel miserable.

the purpose of the game is to get trophy lol

THAT is goal , you raid to get resource so you can lvl your base
and the purpose of lvling your base is to get trophys.


yea we all play to have fun and be social but at the end of the day this is a pvp game with a purpose and not a social network lol

To have fun, to experience a game that you perhaps may enjoy, to socialise with people around the globe. Many other reasons..

I was just about to type something similar, but it was easier to just quote this so I could get back to having fun playing the game faster. :)

It's a game. The only purpose is to have fun however you want to, as long as it doesn't negatively affect others.

To constantly fiddle with my layout until it is perfect. Since there is no perfect layout, it is a quest doomed to end in misery.

There's a purpose to this game?!?!?! And to think this whole time I've been wasting it doin nothing 😞

My purpose is to have fun, period. Most of the time I have fun in farming and upgrading, but when I got bored of it, i push. And when I got bored of both, I just hang around, donating troops to my clanmates, or drop for a while until my interest comes back (though that hasn't really happened yet, lol)
