easy fix when you leave for work or whatever just put ur th outside.
How about like this
Traps
- permanent
- auto-rearmed for free after a small delay, say 5 to 10 minutes
- purchase price can be adjusted to take account of no rearm cost, but there are the upgrade costs already
- simple solution, which also makes bases harder and different because traps do not lose gold anymore - they are placed (better)
- allows people to find bases with no traps
Xbows&Infernoes
- auto-fill option, still costs elixir/de
- can have higher cost (inferno reload may be too pricey?)
- is reloading a bit slack?
Clan castle
- empty clan castle requires 'new content' approach, because e.g. auto-request does not work
- introduce new idea of "reserve capacity" to clan castles, should be bigger as castle's level increases
- troops that are donated go to reserve, but the castle makes sure there are at least .../25/30 in active duty
- the player can choose which troops are in active duty. He/she can also delete units from cc.
- if the active troops are depleted, the next are chosen randomly. This can also be done differently.
- there are numerous benefits to this addition, among others helps those that are not so active, and lets players customize their cc army so helping defense

I'm taking a break for a week with my th inside and got to master through defense alone. Thats 1000 gems free btw, and I'm just th9.
with all due respect to the OP, I do feel the pain. It happened to me a few times as well, even around 2700. And i heard that happened at champion league as well. Just accept that i guess?!
Of course it was a bit off topic, but I could not help myself saying that depleted infernoes/no traps/empty cc is an issue of its own. There are quite many of these issues and sc is not getting rid of any of them.
On auto-fill, it is the same thought I and many others had, and asking why there has to be a reload cost at all does not have a very good answer, does it? There could be a better way to solve depletion issue than auto-fill, but auto-fill would do just fine for time being.
Edit: I just supposed what you wrote about auto-fill, and was not thinking about depletion from resources. Anything that works, I guess?
It only happens once, and you must have lost a fortune of potential resources from your mines and pumps. Either way, it's not possible for you to get to master with your defense alone as a th9, the hogs up there will eat you alive every chance they've got. Well unless you're already so close to master already.
Why must we accept that when it can be improved? Accepting things and doing nothing is not the way it should be.
This is a problem, especially for TH10. You really get punished for having a good defence.
I've put my TH on the outside for now, but will put it back behind walls when my 2nd inferno gets to lvl 3. When it was behind walls and I was saving up for defences (meaning, had more than 4 million gold and elixir, so 400k of both available, + 3k DE available) I had multiple instances where I was attacked 10 - 15 times within an hour or so. Won all, but the last (obviously, since no shield), and only lost the last because all my traps, Xbows and Infernos would be spent. Most times, I'd lose 1 storage of each, so that's over 1 million of each lost.
Easy solution: Make people win the battle to get all the loot they steal. Or better yet, make available loot based on stars gain. For TH 10, for example, make the base max loot back to 200k/200k/1.75k. If you 1 star the person, your loot is multiplied by 1.4 (so 280k/280k/2.45k max). 2 Star, say 1.6 multiplier (320k/320k/2.8k). 3 Star, Big 2.125 multiplier (so 425k/425k/3.718k). And you can still make this only affect storage loot without affecting collector and mine loot.
This would make less people put their TH's on the outside, which even with the decreased base loot (back to what it was before the update) should make more loot available as less people with TH's on outside = less people always on shields.
