Newspaper issues...again!

Out of 52 ads in the newspaper 45 of them are eggs. Lowest amount of egg ads I've seen in over a week is 37 out of 52. A few months ago I let supercell know that suddenly ALL, and I mean every one...not exaggerating, of my ads in the newspaper were bacon and eggs. It was like something was stuck. They evidently made some sort of adjustment or something and it got better. Now, all eggs.

Also, I have been keeping a log and there has not been a roll of tape advertised in my paper since December 19th, and very few expansion items at all....like 3. I get other expansion items from my pets and crops but NEVER a tape. So the question is, what gives?? Are they just making it so hard to get certain expansion items that it's impossible to expand? Is there something wrong with the paper again? Or are people just not selling their expansion items public any anymore?? I hate that the only way to expand is through private trade. That is not how the game is supposed to be played. But one tape every 6-8 weeks, it would take me 2 years to collect enough to expand my barn FYI I play several hours each and every day so it's not that I'm missing a lot.

It's all eggs right now because of the event, buy them and resell to the little people and make lots of coin--it's a great opportunity!

Sorry you're not finding expansion items, I've found at least 20 tapes in 2 days, but I click on a lot of egg ads....never know what's hiding in someone's RSS. ;)

Apparently it's because of the event? But to me that doesn't make sense because the little people buy eggs for apretty good price and very frequently so far this event.

You are still getting the same % profit with eggs, but because they are so cheap, you have to buy a lot more of them to get the same amount of cash for it to be worthwhile.

I'm glad that somebody else has noticed this issue with eggs again: was beginning to think it was just me. It's all getting so DULL. I love flicking through the paper normally; it's quite exciting not knowing exactly what you'll find (OK, some of us have a life, some don't!) but lately it's just ALL eggs. I've also noticed that all of the ads seem to be from the lower levels. That's not me being snotty or anything, it's just that I don't want to buy wheat or corn (or blooming eggs!) but I do want to buy other, higher level stuff. I know there are different versions of the DD because my sister (20 levels lower than me) and I both played last week, at the same time and her paper was totally different from mine. So what's going on?

I have made a stock of sugar and my little people has only asked for sugar the whole event.
The only other things they asked for is saws, axes and crops.
Wish they would ask for eggs...

None of us get the same paper. I'm pretty sure that when we open the newspaper, the ads are chosen then, and no one gets the same selection.

Your sister can't see any ads for items above her level, so of course her paper will be different from yours. The game has to pick an entirely different selection for someone on level 20 vs. level 40, or level 60.

I also strongly suspect that your expansion item tendencies carry over to the newspaper, perhaps simply because both depend on what server you are connecting to. (Just a theory.) My farm tends to produce a lot of bolts and panels, and very few planks and nails. And that holds true for my newspaper as well. Lots of panels and bolts, hardly any nails or planks.

Another possible factor: many believe that Hay Day gives you more of what you already have a lot of, including in the newspaper. So if you have a lot of cheese, you'll see a lot of cheese ads. And if you don't have any cheese, your newspaper won't have much, either.

As for low-level players...I love 'em. They're the ones who sell all their expansion items because they don't have room for them or need the money. They sell their mining equipment, because they have no use for it once their land is cleared but their mines aren't open yet. They also sell all their sugar and dairy, because there's nothing else to do with it wth no pizza, cake oven, coffee, etc. Bring 'em on!

Click on the egg ads, I find a lot of good items behind them. Same with bacon and eggs. People just like to advertise them because it keeps their ad up longer :)

click on all the egg ads, when you do some people advertise more items. I always click on the egg ads and usually find am expansion item, try it :)

There are more egg ads and more shops where you find every thing sold because during a little people event, people don't sell as much. The little people pay way more. Just wait, it will all get back to normal in about 24 hours.

Because people are less likely to buy eggs, so the add is up longer unlike if they advertise an expansion item and someone buys it right away. If that makes sense?

If you advertise some a good item, it will get sold literally within a minute and the advert is gone adter only reaching a few people's newpaper. However, if you advertise an item that is less likely to get sold, the advert can ultimately circulate up to 3 hrs. This will give you a bigger exposure as it will reach much more people.

Not only that...people are buying more. I am selling as much as I ever did, maybe slightly different items. But I can't keep my store stocked. People are just going nuts and buying everything. Including things that don't usually sell fast, like eggs, bacon and sweaters. Dunno if it's because they're buying stuff to sell to the little people, or if no one else is selling so I'm getting more than my usual share of business.

for the last 3 days I've been hitting every add on the front page buying everything in sight (except eggs and milk) and either reselling it to little people or reselling it in my shop...kinda going on that whole kill em all and let the guy upstairs sort em out. it's faster to just buy all and when the barn is full restock the store...hit the littles and repeat the process. and I've managed to find a lot of expansion materials hiding behind the egg ad.


Hopefully supercell will have an egg toss event next week and then there won't be an egg anywhere in sight.

I'm not understanding the theory of the event causing expansion items to be impossible to find. The little people don't ask for expansion items so what would this have to do with it. I believe that everybody is given one almost impossible thing to find out of the three barn expansion items and one out of the three silo expansion items. Mine happen to be nails and tapes. I easily find the other items. And I understand that this keeps if challenging as it would be no challenge and no fun if everything were made readily available. But no tape in over a month, something is wrong with that and Supercell needs to loosen the strings just a little. It becomes so frustrating you almost want to quit and I'm sure they don't want that.

And I do check all the ads including the eggs and wheat. I occasionally see some tapes that have been sold but very few. And a huge shout out to a new friend that came forward and helped me out with the tapes I needed to get over the hump for now.

This whole egg-fest in the paper thing really annoys me too. I've almost never seen anything good behind an ad for eggs, so I don't look any more - I'm not prepared to spend hours sifting through a ton of shops selling 6 eggs and nothing else in the hope of spotting one bolt or something.

I dunno - maybe people with more time to play this game have a different style of playing to me, but the egg frontage is boring as anything.

And I've not had enough sleep.

i think you hit the nail on the head, it sounds as if you lack enough persistence and even though you spent 'hours' you probably havent been seeing the amount of papers those people on here have been seeing.

Ive found plenty of expansion items looking behind eggs the last few days. using the close game + open again to get a new newspaper every minute or so to get new papers. Alot of the time perhaps you are too slow and someone has already bought the expansion item and it says SOLD or perhaps there was one behind the egg but someone has already bought the item and the RSS owner has already collected the money removing the evidence!

Expansion items are a premium and those with persistance and fast fingers will beat you to them. If you are lucky and the expansion is on the first page of your DD then you should beat others otherwise if you are up against aggressive paper trawlers like me then you have a slim chance of even seeing the item

That's probably what it is. I only play in short bursts usually, so only have time to do the bare minimum. And no, I haven't spent 'hours' - that was pretty much my point! For people who don't have time to devote hours and hours to it, the paper is a bit annoying sometimes.

Actually, I imagine expansion items ate sold more during an event like this, but your chances of getting them might still be less.

Let me 'spain.

I generally don't sell expansion items. My biggest barn is big enough to hold them for all three farmers in my family.
BUT. During a little people event , I don't sell many things, like eggs, popcorn, bread, because I keep them for the little people. So my barn gets full and I might toss out what ever I am flush with (even planks.)

BUT. Since others aren't selling as much either, there are fewer ads which increases the likelihood that I will see the same farm's ad more than once if his ad is on eggs for instance. If he was also selling an expansion item and I missed it the first time around it will be gone when his ad rolls around the second time.

I came to this conclusion because usually if BEM or SEM is in an ad, I can usually get it. Not so much right now. Less ads, more buyers equals less bargains for me.

So as I said before, the events benefits way outnumber the minor change in the papers effectiveness and it will all revert soon. The paper was awful when we could only place a new ad every 30 minutes and downright useless during a little people event then. It's much better now and after the event, it will be back to normal.

I think connection speed/congestion matters, too. I've found I get a lot more expansion items if I shop at odd hours. 5am, 2am, rush hour. Times when people aren't as likely to be playing Hay Day.

Why should that be, when people all over the world play this game? I see players from Japan, Korea, Europe, the Middle East, India...at least judging from their farm names. I have a very fast Internet connection - A+ according to SpeedTest.net. I think the problem is with Hay Day's servers, and perhaps the pipeline between me and them. When a lot of people are playing, it gets laggy. "Prime time" in the evening especially (after dinner and before bedtime). That means if an expansion item goes up, it's bought before I even get the newspaper loaded.

I hate this event, no doubt I managed to earn a decent amount of coins, it came at too high a price. First I have to make room to buy at least 200 bacon & eggs, blue sweaters and berry cakes (that means 600 free spaces), I also have to make sure to have at least 1 of each item so the little people don't ask for them. Then the major annoyance of having everything snapped up on the DD. The buying frenzy omg, its horrible! I used to be able to buy lots of bems because I have pretty fast fingers, not anymore! Not even on the first page of the paper! Seriously can't wait for the event to be over. But I must say that I managed to find lots of sugar and dairy, so much that I never have to make them anymore and my dairy mill is dedicated solely to making goat cheese, and also mining tools.

I know that these supercell people could improve so many things if they only tried a little. I mean this egg thing is not an exaggeration. I don't understand how can something be so brilliant and so stupid at the same time. People should strive for excellence and designing a game should be no exception. This game used to be good. And also, what's with the Xmas decorations? It's almost February!

To some that is part of the excellent design of the game. When the events go on, people are concentrating on them, not selling stuff and that is why the newspaper ends up with an abundance of something. It makes the game challenging to have these events and challenging to have to look for items you need that are now scarce in the newspaper. You count on your neighbors a bit more, while they may not have a lot in there shop(neither do I during an event), they seem to fill more boat crates. I flag way more crates during events for help and at least for me, my great neighbors have shown up to fill them. While I'm not selling as much in my shop either, I try hard to fill more crates for my neighbors during these events. I think that is one of the main reasons you don't see much in the DD, everybody holds on to more to fill boat crates and of course to do the event. I don't advertise much during an event.

Now the Xmas decorations, well that's another story and I have no clue to what the hold up on that is and would also like to see at least a quick update getting rid of them.

I know it's annoying to always see eggs. But I don't really think it's supercell's fault that a lot of people choose to advertise eggs.

You're right and people advertise eggs because we tell them to.

If you look back on some of the threads that offer advice, you will see it, but right now, take a wander over to the thread on wheating that has just come back up to the front. In the middle of the whole thing, the poster talks about dummy ads. Now I haven't heard them called that in a while, but back a few months, you could only put up a new ad every thirty minutes. That number of course has come down and the paper, which I ignored in the beginning has become a great tool for me. You see ads for eggs for the precise reason that they are not as valuable. The ad stays up longer. You have to think of the ad, not as an ad but as a link to the sellers farm. There is no better way to get to the farm of an active selling player. The leader boards are there, but they don't tell you that the player is active much less selling anything and neither does scrolling and shopping from your own shop. But if you need wheat or corn or carrots fast, the best way is through the paper.

Rather than bemoaning the massive ads for eggs, turn them to your advantage during an event like this. Ten eggs sell at max for 180. Ten bacon about 540,but 10 bacon and eggs sell for over 2000. During a little people event they sell like crazy and the little people buy them at an even higher price. When the event started, I went to John's shop. I can always get some rice or lettuce from John and his shop rarely has an empty stall. I was flabbergasted to see him practically wiped out, (for John at least.) What were the people buying? The boring stuff that the paper always has in abundance and John always has a variety of. Eggs, bacon bacon and eggs etc.

Also I will say for about the fourth time today. Once you get to the level where you have the sandwich, salad and sushi machines, you will never have enough eggs. Trust me.

Ok time to get back to the really serious stuff. I have way too many episodes of CSI on the DVR. Bye now.

Let's assume for the sake of the argument that Supercell is directly creating this over abundance of eggs (they aren't)... They've got the magic wand, they talked about it and execute the master plan to egg it up.

What's the angle? Why, in your opinion, would they do that? What do they gain except to frustrate players?

The egg thing happens during this event every time! How long have you been playing? I guarantee you will see an abundance of chile popcorn, B&E, and berry cakes in about one hour as the event winds down and ppl dump their excess.
There is no Great Egg Conspiracy, it's just how this game works.
Plus we have a TON of new android farms at low levels--what else are they supposed to sell at level 10 or so??

I got rid of my excess little people stuff in time--and managed to make another 25,000+ in the last couple of hours selling fast growing crops and EGGS I bought in the DD ;)

LOL. I sold half of them to Ranger (added me as friend), sold 25 to little people with 5 min left in the event (sweating bullets because i didnt want to have that many bacon and eggs left and now have 18 remaining. Im hoping a friend has a bacon and egg boat order to fill.

I really enjoyed the Little People event now that I knew how to take advantage of it. Last go around, it was a struggle.

Yeah this is my favorite event and I didn't take as much advantage this time. I had other things to do, but I still made over 400,000. I like to see eggs in the dirt. I buy them up all the time. It's rice and lettuce I can seem to get enough of.
