Fell to the pressure....of boredom. Went to th8 without maxing everything.

So I had air defenses, collectors, few barracks, dark barracks and bk left to upgrade. I was struggling getting dark elixir and hated to use lightning spell since it felt cheap to do so. I am a wall builder and love to work daily on walls and defenses so my question is what advice does anyone have on when th8 is finished in 1 day. I have max resources ready to go but worried that I will not be able to raid with level 4 troops with the reduction of loot I wil experience with the upgrade. My plan is to of course start the lab then archers as soonas I can.. Thanks for any comments.

Its not cheap to lightning. I know A lv153 who even does it. Btw. Bax your th fo 8 and work on new buiding first. Slowly get allwalls to7.

it's cheap to lightning, you're not saying it is coz you do it, and if a level 153 does something, it doesn't make it right.

Thanks for your reply! Walls are all maxed which is why I believe I was getting bored and decided to take the chance to go to th8. Time will tell if I regret it. Now I'm trying to decide to spend 200 gems and complete the th8. Lol I want to spend the 4m in resources that is just sitting there in gold and elixir and the other upgrades will take too long. Smac. You'll be fine. The jump to TH8 is not that big of a deal. Just hang out in a lower trophy range (say around 1300) and farm. The first priority for me was the lab and the DE drill.

Don't bother with dark elixir drill, its only 20 per hour. Its pathetic seriously.

lol, at TH8 you can upgrade DE drill to lvl 3 which is 45 DE per hour or 1080 dark elixir per day? how is that pathetic? For a lot of people thats more DE than they get from raiding

Exactly, it is better than nothing. And it costs elixir to build, so its not like you are wasting precious resources to build it.

Don't hear people saying about loot penalty, less loot, loot will be harder, you will be farmed more, by stronger opponents, loose more 50K, etc etc... well... that is all wrong,
They're just the traditional "max everything" followers, while I have prove it my self.
It's just the theory. in practice, it's actually the opposite.

Yes, you will have loot penalty againts TH6, but it will be traded soon as you have your green archers... They are strong to take down bases you can't raid yet with your current troops. Which will you prefer? striking 250K TH6 or strike the 250K+ TH8+ ? And please tell me how many TH6 with 250K loot you can find in a day compared to TH8+ with 250K+ you skip because you're not confident as they looks too strong for you?

Then if you think you will loose more... and strike by stronger opponents,
Well, that's just a theory again. In your condition, you will always available 250K, teasing those well developed TH8 guys. but once you arrive on TH8, you will realize you won't loose 250K nor 300K. But you will just loose 1K because you must have no resource in hand anymore. Those farmers won't bother to drop by your base and the only thing you get is those TH snipers that take 1K.

I moved from TH7 to TH8 a month ago. After farming for a while I got stuck again with maxed skull walls and moved to TH9 directly... now I'm on TH9 with TH6 defence turrets :D

Idc when a th7 lights me for 600, But when a lvl 153 does it....

Upgrading it to lvl 3 gives you 45/hour. It's very ​easy to get DE with it

lab must be the first
then CC

army camps is always priority too... but th8 doesn't have army camps upgrade

Elixir will be precious to him, as he needs to upgrade all of his troops and barracks

It is very easy to get enough elixir to do a troop upgrade every 5 days. DE is way more scarce, hence why spending some elixir on the drill is a good idea.

Thanks for all the replies. It has helped me think about my plans moving forward. Sharonsym, thanks for the detail you put it your post! The last decision I made was that I knew I could help my clan by going to level 5 troops sooner than later. We are a very new clan and can use all the help we can get from each other. I will continue to refrain from the lightning on bases and will try new raid strategies to capture DE the normal way. Thanks again everyone!
