Defense wins not increasing

I am hoping someone knows why this is happening. I have some thoughts as to why but....

A clanmate of mine has gone sub200 for farming and i noticed something strange. Even though he it getting wins, basically everytime he logs out, his defense wins have stayed at 0. His unbreakable achievement is increasing, so the game is registering wins, but his win counter isn't increasing. I have included two pics below to illustrate.

Is is it related to not being in a league? As in, if you are below bronze, badgeless, attack and defense wins don't get listed?

Here are two pics taken a few hours apart. You will see 0s for wins, but unbreakable going up.

Wins and losses aren't recorded when you aren't in a league. As soon as your clan-mate gets a badge, they'll start to log.

Because he's not in a league.
