I made the mistake of buying diamonds- ONCE. Now, every single mystery box is locked. I even tried the trick to revisit the farm and not hit "X" but nothing worked. I revisited a farm for over THIRTY MINUTES! Every one- locked. It's been two days and so far not a box was left unlocked. Two days ago, I purchased diamonds.

It seems once you show them you have money, they revoke any and all "freebies" so that you continue to pay them.

So if you want the random free unlocked chest every now and again, DO NOT BUY A SINGLE THING FROM THIS GAME. you'll be forced to pay for everything from that point forward.

I've had locked boxes for more than 2 days. Keep playing. You'll encounter unlocked boxes again.

Hi, sorry to hear you are frustrated. However, what you're saying simply isn't true. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that your own anecdotal evidence isn't accurate - you'd know better than me if you haven't been able to open any tool boxes in the last two days... But I can tell you that plenty of people who DO buy diamonds can still open boxes.

So if you haven't found any to open, that's a bummer for sure. But it isn't related to your recent purchase.

I've bought diamonds. The toolboxes still open...sometimes. Just like before.

There's a lot of variation. Sometimes I'll get three in a row that are open, sometimes there's 50 or more in a row that are locked. There's a pretty high standard deviation, to put it in statistical terms. You've just hit a run of bad luck.

I buy diamonds all the time, and still get unlocked boxes. Do you know the trick of tapping outside the locked boxes ( don't tap the X ) you find on other people's farms? If you do that each time you will eventually get a free box. I recently got a gold voucher from one of those unlocked boxes.

I know about the trick with not hitting the "X." As I said, I did that for over a half hour without a single unlocked box. That on top of two days of just normal trying.

Nothing.

I find it rather suspicious that this started after I paid for diamonds, yet my girlfriend who is the same level and DID NOT buy diamonds is having no problem whatsoever.

Ironically, two days ago, I stopped getting movie tickets also.

Girlfriend still gets them.

I know the default here is to defend SC, but I have Zero doubt that the frequency that you find unlocked boxes changes when you buy a bunch of diamonds. I took advantage of a sale and bought a large amount six days ago and haven't found an unlocked box in those six days! Not One! That is not a run of bad luck! My daughter bought the same amount a few days later and guess how many unlocked boxes she has seen since... I don't know if it is level dependent or what, but six days without an unlocked box is a bit obvious! I am an almost obsessive player who never goes more than an hour or so without checking in and updating my machines and crops, so it is not from lack of playing time either... It doesn't affect me one way or the other since I rarely unlock boxes whether I have the diamoonds or not, but I truly believe there is a Noticeable difference...

when you are first learning, they make it that pretty much every box opens! But that's why...... they get you hooked and then fall prey to the temptation to spend diamonds to continue to feel the joy of getting something in the toolbox every time.

I'm with you Cheddarlimbo, the rules of NOT getting out of the screen by tapping the red "X" are true!

if I feel that something's aren't going my way, I go back to my farm AGAIN and do some fishing planting crops or feeding animals. THEN I see a toolbox on MY farm. So I close my box by tapping the red "X" (only do that on your own farm)
and then I go back out onto my hunt for freebies from OTHERS' toolboxes. And it works!!!

i don't know why, but the whole thing about not closing red X on the other farms and refreshing their farm and try 2nd time and so on & so on until it opens (maybe4-6 tries) is a real true thing to get freebies, but if you are feeling sad and mad, then just go back to your farm until your farms toolbox is on there and open it and whether it has something or not, do the above instructions and you should be in luck!

Take a deep breath and when in doubt just come back here and re-read the "open red mystery box for free" thread.
It IS true,I haven't bought diamonds in 3 months and I get the free 5 diamonds from a free open red mystery box instructions at least once every 1 or 2 days. Please try this and let us know you have become successful

Wow. You get free diamonds every 1-2 says. I hardly ever get diamonds in a tool box. I do know you spend more time hunting tool boxes though.

Strange fluctuations though!

Just to add an experience. I bought diamonds and right after that I used 86!!! mining items to get ore from the shaft. I did not get one single diamond when I was raking my ore in. Not 1! I used up my diamonds expanding and right after diamonds started coming again. Just saying.

I don't buy diamonds and until just two days ago I haven't been able to open any locked chests, I think I have just come up against a bad spell.

I have spent diamonds on 34 mystery nets for the elusive pearl and another farmer wrote on this forum they have received 6 pearls in one month with just a few mystery nets.

Sod's law I suppose!🎣

Since October, I take screenshot of every diamond box I open. The number is about 80 now. Just open one more 20 minutes earlier.

No, I don't refresh Greg's farm hours and hours. I leave the box (not close) and move on to another farm or come back playing a while after.

unlocked vs locked boxes

After a certain level I think it's between 15 and 20....after tom but before 20. I stop drop down to 2 unlocked boxes per day...I believe it's about a 16-20 hour cool down period. so each morning I wake up stretch open my farm and open my 1 free lock box on my farm for the day.

Then I go to someone elses farm..Usually not Greg but sometimes Greg and I open my free mystery box there. for all other boxes I encounter I test the lock verify locked click the ground outside and move on.

Very rarely I'll get a third free box in a day...usually it's after I've spent all day playing hayday.

I have bought diamonds once before because it was a good deal and I wanted to do lots of slot expansion however I've found that I get enough from the mine boxes and events to tide me over currently.

I buy lots of diamonds, regularly...I seem to get quite a few opened boxes, regularly. Maybe at least two or three a day, but then I DO have a lot of neighbors, spend a lot of time playing and I click on every red box I see though I don't go specifically looking for them. Random generators in programming don't really seem to be that random to me sometimes...it is quite possible that you really are seeing a dramatic drop.

I've boughten diamonds once before and I still get the normal amount of unlocked boxes.
However, my movie tickets did stop once I bought diamonds. Haven't gotten one since.

Since I started playing the experience I have had is that if you buy diamonds it's a slow go back to getting diamonds around your farm.

I started the game with the movie tickets. I had an ITunes gift card for $50 for like 2 years, so I decided I would use it to get diamonds. I did one purchase can't remember how many I bought. I had 140 of those diamonds disappear(never heard back from SC on that and no I didn't accidently spend them as I have the confirmation button) and spent the last few. Movie tickets came back. I again bought another bag of diamonds(again can't remember how many) and the movie tickets stopped. I used a bunch of those for Christmas and regular decorations, still had some left, but also still had some money left on that gift card. So I bought some more. I spent all but a couple bucks of the gift card. Since that time I have never gone down to zero on diamonds and the movie tickets have never come back.

As for red boxes and mining diamonds, they both slowed way down after each purchase of diamonds. Once you use about half of the diamonds you buy they seem to come back around at the normal rate. I have not used many diamonds since I bought Christmas decorations and I have quite a few. Between fishing and achievements they add up, plus the ones you collect around.

While I was not happy at the time that the movie tickets never came back or the boxes and mining slows when you purchase, you really get plenty of diamonds doing all the stuff, that it seems pretty fair to me and it evens out. I've played very few other games, the few I have I didn't get this much free stuff.

I still would like the movie tickets back only because I enjoyed logging in and finding it sitting there. No different then at night when you log in and WOF is there and your mail, it's fun to get these extras. These 2 extras you get free stuff for to. I have griped cause I tend to get lame stuff or decorations I already have, but it still is fun seeing it there every night and trying for something decent.
