Ahhh, I see. I am always aiming for 50% resulting me to use almost 80% or all of my troops. Should change strategy. As I dont care much losing trophies, dropping few troops for a good amount of money seem so much beneficial. Lesson learnt. :)

I'm sure there are people much more qualified than me to awnser this question but for me it depends on a few factors. First troop build time. Usually I'm mainly DE farming for hero's so I'm often using loonians so long builds are a factor so I'm more likely to try to save more troops at the cost of losing or one starring a raid that I could have two starred. However if Im using barch I'm more likely to not care about saving troops since reload is so long.
I often will take the loss at time for profits sake. My usual minimum attack amount is 2000. But if someone has 1000 I can grab with less than half my army and take the loss my profit margin is the same.
I first look at the trophies lost potential. If its a small say 150k gold raid with 30 trophies taken if lost I won't attack it. If its 200k with 14 trophies taken than its looking better at thinking if I wanna steal the loot and bail.
Also sometimes I find I can get a TH before I get 50%. Generally more with ground attacks. When I giant healer attack I drop the king about mid way through in an effort to direct him to TH. I usually will not let him get more damage after the TH goes down for the extra 50% star unless ive fallen out of my desired range.
Also collector raids are a great time to take a loss for profit. Though this of course has to be balanced with wining raids otherwise you won't have the trophies to spare but generally try to win most raids if possible because its not rare to happen across that base that you have no business attacking but has 4k DE and you figure if you drop all your troops and spells straight for that De you can get it with a loss.
So who gets sick of new clan members asking why you don't spend the gold thats been spent on walls on your defences instead. Almost every new clan member we get asks this.
we can't... loot is so inconsistent...
therefore I never count loot the per hours... it's not relevant because on some hour we can find 2 million, on next hour they're all vanished and we can't find anything until we gave up pressing the next button.
All we need is just the loot...
I simply get all the loot, if it's close to 50%, then I will drop few more barb / arch to get 1 star... but If it's just <40% then I will leave to save my troops for next loot. :cool:
we just need to to maintain the cups, about 1-2-3 wins and 1 loose...
storage loot usually ends with 3 or 2 stars, that compensate the cup loos to save your troops

Yea they assume walls are a slow thing that takes a extremely long time to do. But really if you know how to farm efficiently build time is the biggest bottle neck. I'm going 2/2/1 and I will max my walls a week before I max out my heroes. I premied because I had no gold dump but I dont think I will rush to th10.
