I'm at th4. just unlocked a ballon and trained one in 6 freaking minutes. I read about them and it seems like they are useless at my level of play.
I have not used one yet but it seems that if I have to take out all the air defense in order to use one and if I don't have enough forces to do all the air defense and keep busy/take out the mortar at the same time
then should I just not bother with it? it seems like a complicated tactic.
I think they're extremely useful at your TH.
On a friend's account I'm able to get 100k gold really easy with bloons.
Usually people bunch their anti-air stuff together, or I can distract the WT & AT with a few giants whilst my bloons create havoc.
Add in a few archers and WB's...
They become very powerfull at Level 5, combined with rage spells.
I used to consider them rather worthless at the early stages of them game, though.
I pushed 800 trophies yesterday with lvl 6 so they do improve. I find it easier to form a wall of balloons followed with other troops. They do amazing damage and allows wbs and archers to get deeper into the base.
As CLW pointed out, they can be very useful at your level. Yes, they take a long time to make, and aren't the thriftiest troop, but lots of bases at your level have no or poorly defended air defense. Mix a couple into your army and see how it goes.

ok. I just used one. i got rid of one air defense and to archer towers and launched a ballon that seemed to arrive at every building just late enough to make no difference at all. It did destroy one cannon though. but I'm not sure if that cannon could have been done some easier way
ballons seem like a neat idea but I'm not sure how well I can use them. but so far the consensus they work well.
I guess it take some practice. right now I'm going to upgrade storage so I can upgrade a barracks to get a wizard. I will probably be able to understand how to use wizards a lot easier
One of my friend started new ....i gave him max bloons ....he was wiping bases easily with those

A word of advice that I used at your level. In giant healer attacks, a few loons can be used to tank air traps and air defense for your healers. This can be crucial to the success of a giant healer raid. For loonion, you really need higher level balloons.
