Tips for not carlessly using your diamonds

Supercell has not listened to our pleas for a diamond confirmation button so I thought that people who claim to be losing 100s of diamonds should use a few methods to keep there accidentally diamond usage to a minimum.
Tips for conserving diamonds:

When the IPad lags do not keep tapping the iPad hopping it would suddenly work which it probably won’t. It might cause diamonds to be lost when suddenly, the IPad unfreezes and you accidentally tap speed up or buy a new slot.

Use all of your diamonds and keep it very low so you cant waste any diamonds. If you accidentally do use a few diamonds it is not as bad as losing 25 of them to a new slot.

If you want to buy a decoration that cost 100 diamonds then SAVE YOUR ACHIEVEMENTs. I estimate that I have about 100 diamonds in my achievements section that I am “storing” till something worth my diamonds pops up

Use a stylus which will prevent your fingers from accidentally using diamonds. I personally think I have fat fingers. I might mean to go to another machine but then I would just accidentally click add a new slot. Now with a stylus my actions are much more precise.

Do not rush especially when you are refilling your machines since if you get "trigger happy" chances are you will buy a new slot for the machine and waste your diamonds. (contributed by saudiG)

If you accidentally go on the place that adds a new slot or speeds up the production do not let do just slide it away. by doing this is will click the place where you let go not the speed up button. (contributed by Holidae)

Slow down!!!!!! No need to get all trigger happy and rush all over the place, take your time and you are less likely to accidentally tap that speed up button. Scroll thru the deco tab veryyyyyy slowly or not at all, lol. I have dropped 38 diamonds worth of deco (which I didn't want/need) by "browsing" thru the deco tab.:rolleyes:
Like penguin said, save your diamonds in the fishing book and house after achievements and don't cash them in until you are ready to use them

Minimize tapping. If you happen to engage the speed up don't disengage on the speed up. Slide your finger elsewhere and disengage.

I've been using a stylus and have seen a huge difference! Also, when feeding animals, click on the floor of the pen a few times, if you can touch the "ground" instead of an animal the blue bar won't pop up so it eliminates the risk of swyping and accidentally speeding up the animal. -- This works for me on both of my Android devices, I'm not sure how it is on iOS.

Someone posted that they only scroll thru the deco tab when they are across the street with minimal chance of accidently dragging & dropping an unwanted item. I wish I would have read that post before I dropped a whopping 50 diamonds on the snowglobe...yeah and it was a good week after Christmas...(live & learn!!) can't take credit for that idea but wanted to pass on the info! Hope it helps

Swipe to the left diagonally of the deco tab so you don't drag a decoration onto your farm

OR, like I remember someone saying on the forums before (sorry I forget who!), move the screen to the far side of the farm, by the road, so even if you do accidentally drag a decoration, it can't place anywhere cause it's not a valid area.

Terrific idea to collect and share these tips, Penguin. :) I will say, however, yet again, that they are currently working on perfecting the button, but it is unknown when it will roll out to everyone. These tips will help soooo many until then...and even after we all have the button, as nothing is foolproof.

For me, the greatest help has been the stylus, hands down. Not only for speedup accidents, but everything. Yes, I still sometimes drag the wrong item into a production slot, grab the wrong lure, move a tree, etc., but only occasionally now.

Slowing down and not always being in a rush is the next greatest help. Scrolling through the DD is the only time when speed is of the essence so it's safe and smart to slow down elsewhere.

When scrolling through shops (neighbors or through the DD) ALWAYS wait until the background lighting goes dark before beginning your scroll. That indicates that GC is finished uploading the initial player info into the avatars and the freeze the data stream causes is, basically, over. That's when it's (mostly) safe to scroll through the bins, and seriously cuts down on buying things you don't want because you tapped while the freeze was on. However, be warned, if GC is having heavy streaming issues at the time, scrolling will stick again with each scroll (if a large shop), so be aware and use caution accordingly. The light will only go out only after you first enter the shop, so any further lag has no indicator and requires your own attention and focus. Sorry, but I've no experience with Android or FB, so cannot give tips if any freeze exists while shopping through those play mediums. However, it's likely similar.

To keep from buying decor, I place my stylus on the left side, where it shows how much they cost, and scroll up/down. If I'm not touching the picture of the item, I can't buy it.

For those old enough to drink, do not play when you've had a couple of drinks on you. :D I came back from a holiday party and decided I needed to check my farm, guess what happened?:o

Edit: I always make sure to tap on the left of the machine/field/cave/etc. after finishing something since the speed up buttons are mostly to the right.
