My base design is not anti hog but because my cc requires half your army to lure and i always have a drag or wiz in it the hogs always die. I am similar levels to you:) there is hope
Giant bombs placed in corners, that's what's wrong.
Nice layout, its a shame people expect you to rearrange your base just for 1 type of troop.
regarding the bombs, i have all my bombs in the corner because that's 100k a time to reload so no thank you.
I think that Hogs are a bit over power against TH8 and 9
Give it a rest with the giant bombs already, he got that from the first 2-3 comments about this.
For the record two giant bombs alone at level 3 (max level you can have at TH 9) that deal
450 damage (2 x 225) are enough to take out hogs at level 4 (they have just 415 HP), but not level 5 (they have 475 HP) as most of the attackers use.
Besides, if a skilled attacker feels like there could be a trap what stops him to drop a heal and/or rage spell before his hogs reach that trap/spot? or even trigger that spot first with just one hog or any other unit if possible? Best case scenario you have accomplished nothing but lower their HP but not for long.

As a maxed out TH 9 (except 3 DE troops) I know how you feel about this matter as I've been hogged like 5-6 times so far. Fortunately only one managed to 3 star me, but at that time wasn't maxed out.:p
If you get hogged too often (at least one every 2-3 days) in my honest opinion you are faced with only two viable options:
1) change the layout:
a) get an anti-hog layout (plenty floating around on the forum) that was proven to work in most of the cases
b) update yours to have two giant bombs get triggered at the same time, but take notice that two aren't enough to kill hogs in a single boom so get creative with wizard placement and the spring traps
2) don't be profitable: stop hording resources and invest all the gold you get into walls if you finished maxing out the rest of defense, regular buildings or researches.
Once you will get the disco balls at TH 10 all the hard work you put into walls will finally pay off, as you will no longer be mass hogged, or at least not 3 started. :D
Wizards, balloons or minions in CC should help against them, but if the attacker is smart enough will try to lure out your CC troops in a corner and kill them.
I took the option 2, meaning that haven't changed the layout to an anti-hogs one, but changed a few things, got the aforementioned troops in my CC, placed a few spring traps here and there and finally and most important ingredient hoped for the best. :p
So far got attacked only once and worked as expected and my precious DE wasn't touched, so I'm happy with the results. :cool:
