Member < Warrior(?) < Elder < Leader
What happens 9 out of 10 times when a new recruit joins your clan?
They either (a) request dragons, hog riders, or some other high level troop and/or (b) immediately ask and sometimes demand Elder status.
I do not like the fact that there is no status between Member and Elder. I simply cannot trust awarding Elder status without knowing a player well enough and the clan I am in thankfully does not do this. However, being able to show recognition of a player's contribution to the clan and are valued is important before trusting them to the extent to making them an Elder with promotion capabilities. This is essential for retaining good players and weeding out the hoppers.
We had one issue a few months ago where someone was promoted to Elder and then disagreements occurred. One thing led to another in a short period of time and this particular Elder decided to promote all Members to Elders before providing all of us with a comical diatribe of our meaningless existence. Was it a big deal? No, not really. As soon as the Leader was able to log in he remedied the situation by demoting everyone aside from a trusted "inner circle" of players.
I think another status is necessary to help with this issue. I don't believe this would snowball into a desire for more and more statuses, but one more seems to be sensible to me.
Member - No privileges
Warrior - Can recruit
Elder - Can recruit and promote
Leader - God status of the clan
TL;DR - I think one more ranking level between Member and Elder would be helpful.
