I never use real money for games, only the initial purchase. I currently have 8 diamonds, but with a cake oven now, will open up anther production slot on the sugar mill me thinks.

Most definitely! We used to speed boats up frequently when candidates had them to spare and it only cost I diamond. Wouldn't dream of it now with the price hike, I was just harking back to the 'good old days' lol:D

that is definately a good use of diamonds... Speed ups used to cost 1 diamond and speeding up one or two boats along the way wouldn't be that bad.. Now it's too expensive.

Oh yes.. you asked some cake advice...
All I can say is start working on the masteries and make cakes. Try to keep that cake oven running and you will accumulate hours for that.
