What happened to the TH snipers???

Since the loot update a couple of months ago i seem to come across loads more bases with town hall outside walls or stuck in the corner, and far more th9 an th10 players seem to be doing it than i ever remember before. I guess this is an unexpected consequence of the new loot system with players facing potential 400k losses.

This may also be a factor in why loot seems to have completely disappeared for lots of people in the game since the update, i'm guessing theres lots of it but its all sitting in the storages of people who are riding out the cheap shields gained from th snipers.

higher up in the lges from mid master 3 on the situation reverses, you almost never see a base where the th has been left out for snipers and consequently you only have to hit next 3-4 times to come across a 400k+ of each base; although actually getting your hands on all that loot is another story.

snipers are definitely still out there but i think with this abundance of th for them to snipe some of them have wised up and if the placement of your th looks like it may be a trap they just hit next. I have placed my th in top left corner of my base well away from any defence last 5 nights an been sniped every night which i was very relieved about as i had over 4mil of each every night.

A few questions: What trophy range are you sitting at? How much loot/trophies were there to be gained by the attacker? Does your base make do any of the things outlined in my "5 Farming mistakes" post? I'm at 1600 as a th7, and literally every defense on my battle logs screen (except one 3-star by a salty th9 near the bottom) are th snipes.

I will 2nd this statement. It really helps the time pass when you are in between long upgrades or training periods.

As far as TH sniping....I never pass up the free loot of sniping a TH with 3 or 4 archers and getting the league bonus. I might hit some of your exposed collectors too, just the nature of the beast, sorry.

Just read your "5 farming mistakes" post an its definitely worth a read for anyone who is finding that people aren't going for their town hall even if its outside walls.

Also have never understood why people stick hidden teslas around an exposed town hall it just seems kind of dumb to me if you think about it logically.

Firstly against weaker players theres a chance your teslas will win which granted does make a funny replay to show clan mates but you miss out on a shield which you will regret when the next defence is 100% with all resources taken

secondly you may be attacked by a good player who is happy to take the easy town hall an loot bonus, saving his troops for next battle. When hidden teslas pop up it may then encourage him to adjust his plans an launch a full assault getting 2-3 stars and your loot. I know this happens because its what i do! I drop 1 minion if hidden teslas pop up i think sod it an launch all 28 of my balloons plus 50 minions and if needed cc troops.

one day. i dropped an archer by accident on a fully maxed out th 10.

hes th was outside but i was droping cups at the time so i didn t mind. guess what happend next?

he attacked me full force.
got 100%.

thats why high lvl bases with th out rarely gets attack these days unless a th7-8 snipes you :)

Much agreed, Using Teslas like that is not only aggravating to an attacker but is weakening your base.

yes, th8 is the favorite target of th9, especially with the new loot system, a th9 can get 50% more from a th8, which makes lots of previously-unprofitable strategies profitable.

I'm at 1400, with completely maxed storages...

My base has none of the listed mistakes.... In a far corner, surrounded by decorations.

When I place my town hall outside my walls, I am making a contract with would be attackers: take the town hall and as a consequence you will get some easy trophies and I will get a free shield.

If I booby trap the town hall with traps or teslas, as far as I am concerned I have broken the contract and I fully deserve to be three starred.

Likewise, if you take the town hall and then proceed to drop lightning spells on my DE storage, that is not part of the deal, and I will hit you with everything at my disposal!

EDIT: Of course, if you take the town hall and go on to attack the rest of the base, it isn't actually TH sniping, so none of the above is relevant. :)
