The Diamond - a TH7 Farm Base

I have been TH7 for some time now, and I'm nearing the point where I'll be upgrading to TH8. The time here has been difficult, for the first time I've experienced serious raids and the ensuing frustration of losing tons of resources because my base has not been strong enough. I have tried variants of a lot of the popular builds on this forum, including but not limited to the Tesla Theme Park, the One Ring, The Pokeball and others. Common for them all is that a serious TH8 army (sometimes TH9 bother with me too) will be able to smash through to where they want to go, easily grabbing 3-4 storages. Eventually I started thinking outside the box:
.::. Intro .::.
Introducing the Diamond, a unique TH7 farm-base concept which is based on some unconventional ideas. First of all, let’s consider what we want a farm-base to achieve, i.e. what are the concrete goals one seeks to accomplish. Ironically enough, they can be summarized in two parts, as follows:
When attacked, we want to maximize the possibility of getting a shield
When attacked, we want to minimize the amount of resources lost
To this end, most players place their Town Halls on the outside, place their storages around a centralized cc and spread out mortars in a triangle. I believe this approach to be fundamentally approached for TH7.
.::. Rationale .::.
Why? First of all, to have an unlurable CC you need more walls than you have available for TH7, unless you want a single-layer wall defense. As such, having it centralized provides little value against most attackers. Triangulated mortars inherently creates a weak zone seeing as there are only two wizard towers and two teslas available. By triangulating your mortars, you inherently lose symmetry when working on a TH7 base. By centralizing your storages, anyone breaking through will be able to target pretty much everything. At TH7 you will frequently be attacked be TH8s and sometimes TH9s. This means that a typical attack has 2-3 spells, L5 Giants and L5 Archers along with a hero or two. Occasionally Pekkas, Dragons and Hog Riders are seen as well. The main problem with these armies is that regardless of how you arrange your base they will be able to reach any one point they want to. Not necessarily all points, but they can reach any point. This is an important observation. Taken together, these points have led to the Diamond: a highly valuable base where individual parts can be broken off and still be independently valuable.

.::. Features .::.
The Diamond features:
- Non-centralized clan castle, optimized to give support where it’s needed the most
- Non-triangulated mortars, aligned to provide the most flexible and symmetrical assistance coupled with wizard-towers
- Fairly vulnerable storages that are highly separated
- Very easy-to-kill Town Hall, its lure augmented by decorations, proving that no Teslas or traps are nearby
- Strong air defense coverage
The goal of the Diamond is to tempt an easy storage to kill. However in committing to getting a storage, an attacker will be very unlikely to fully penetrate the other compartments: at worst he won’t get anything else, at best he’ll get +2. Getting totally steamrolled is (hopefully) impossible unless a true power-army (e.g. TH9 max, all-dragon/all-hog etc) attacks.
.::. Experience .::.
Most attackers (virtually all) seem to be targeting gold and dark elixir. For this reason, the vast majority of the attacks on this base comes from south-west (hence the CC placement). Some attacks from north-east, however so far there have been non targeting the elixir sides (if this continues I’ll move the bombs to outside of the S-W and N-E walls). Note that the 4 corners of the base are impossible to break, they are never targeted by wall breakers and no troops will want to engage them either. This is perhaps the strongest point of the base because it means that the compartments are so much more separated.

The South-West is the most lucrative region and because of this the walls are staggered to make it very hard for Wall Breakers to open the innermost compartment.

Even the strongest base will suffer losses. Maximise the potential of getting a shield by surrounding the Town Hall with decorations. Also note that the Town Hall is situation on the corner which I consider the least lucrative to attack, and blocks a lot of potentially favourable deployment space.

Goblins wanting to attack an exposed storage will find themselves directed to the flanks if the collectors have not been removed.

The Clan Castle will be activated once the Tesla is being engaged.

The North-East corner has the Mortar staggered out. Unfortunately there were no walls left for the Wizard Tower, but it is range of all 3 Mortars
Lastly, the most important part of any base design thread: no matter how much we boast about our creations and their features, what it all boils down to is how well it performs.

1. Not a real attack, he took the Town Hall and found out he might as well try for a storage since it was so exposed. Found out it wasn't a good idea.
2. 1 Storage looted, half of a second storage looted.
3. 2 Storages looted.
4. 1 Storage looted.
5. 1 Storage looted. Notice the strength of this army and how little it achieved.
In closing, I'd like to add that tonight, all of my defenses will be completed (finally!). The playtesting was done with 3 point defenses and 1 air defense upgrading. I'm eager to see how this'll perform while I complete the last few weeks at TH7 before I move up to TH8 to play with the big boys. I'll keep this thread updated with its performance and post more logs, pictures, development and analysis.
